The first page seems to be almost identical to the screen that I already pulled up.
'Wonder why they're giving us this sheet if we can just see it?'
I move on to the next page, which seems to be about the magic affinity test.
The red lights showed that I had a high aptitude for fire magic and the yellow was for lightning magic, which I also showed high aptitude for. The small amount of green meant that I had low class healing magic.
Finally, the white orb showed that my affinity to light magic was massive.
The next few pages were more notes on my elemental strengths and weaknesses.
Finally, I reached the last three pages which seemed to have the classes.
The first one has a sword and shield sigil next to the words 'Paladin'.
'A Paladin is the close range attacker and defender of their party. They go to the front lines to fend off enemies and protect their allies. Healing and Buff magic is fairly common in this class.'
That seems like it could be fun, but I decide to look at the other two before making a decision.
The second page has a staff with sparkles surrounding it. The word 'Wizard' is written next to it in neat and intricate handwriting.
'Wizards are attack type mages. They use powerful magic attacks to back up the rest of a party. Type of magic used depends on magic affinity. Usually the weakest in terms of physical attacks. They can also brew low class potions. Being able to store a large amount of mana is helpful for this class.'
While sounding pretty cool, it doesn't seem like the best fit for me.
The third and final page has a sigil with a sword crossed with an axe. A round shield sat behind the two weapons. Finally, a staff intertwined with a bow hung below it all.
Looking next to the sigil, the word 'Rogue' had been written.
I look at it quizzically before starting to read the description.
'A Rogue is easily described as an all arounder. They can fill any position in the party that needs to be covered. Using a wide range of weapons, they can also use magic as they see fit (depending on their magical affinities).'
Excitement built in me as I finished reading.
'This is what I want to do. I know it.'
I look up to talk to an employee, but am distracted by Matt sitting next to Natalia.
He's looking down at his sheet, which means I must have missed him coming in from the ceremony.
It also seems like Alcon and Natalia have finished. I must have taken longer than usual.
Standing up, I walk over to the head desk. After circling 'Rogue' I hand the clipboard to a pretty woman sitting at the counter.
Taking a deep breath, I plop down next to Natalia.
"Hey, what do you think Mind is?"
Even though I don't know the answer, I wrack my brain to answer Natalia's question.
"It could be for magic. I mean, none of the others seem to relate to it, so it would make sense.
After my answer, we go back to sitting in silence.
'Why does this feel so awkward?'
"So what was your best stat?" I say the first thing that comes to mind.
"My highest one was 96, which was my agility. Excluding mind since we don't know what it is, my lowest ended up being 80, which was my fortitude."
She looks proud of her agility stat, and I don't have to fake the impressed look on my face.
"Thats pretty good. My highest was-"
"Ha, bet I'm stronger than both of you. 92 strength."
Alcon bursts into the middle of our conversation, starting to flexing his biceps for some reason.
"No one asked Alcon!"
Natalia snaps, definitely still mad about what he said earlier.
"What was your lowest then?"
My words make Alcon look at a loss. He sits in silence for a bit, but seems to make up his mind.
"It's not really any of your fuckin business...but just cause you're wondering, my stamina's 78."
Natalia bursts into a fake comical laughter and I cough dryly. Luckily, Matt seems to have finished.
As he sits down, I can see how pale he seems to have gotten.
"Hey Matt, you good?"
"Oh, fine. Perfectly fine!"
He says this with a fake sounding laugh while pulling at his pants leg.
"Really? What did your stats end up being?"
He flinches at my question and starts pulling at his pants even more.
"Well...if you must know...my highest was agility, at 83. My strength was only 72..."
'Oof. Maybe I shouldn't have asked.'
Natalia speaks up now.
"Oh, that's not too bad! Alcons lowest was 78!"
"But 72! 72!!"
"You're strength was only 72!" Alcon breaks in, roaring with laughter.
"Fuck off Alcon!"
I'm starting to get tired of his bullshit.
"What are you gonna do about it? How high is your strength?"
"98, fucker."
His grin grows wider. However, I can see his face become slightly more pale.
"Well you must be pretty slow or something."
"My lowest is fortitude, at 93. Which is higher than your strength."
I leave out my mind value, but since we didn't know what it was for I doubt that mattered to this guy.
He chuckles, but it's hollow. He stands up and shamelessly excuses himself to the restroom.
Now that he's finally gone, I ask them about their classes. Matt answers in a defeated voice.
"Oh, I had Sorcerer, Alchemist, and Theurgist to choose from. I chose the Sorcerer class because it seemed to be the most powerful of the three."
"See! I knew you were going to be really useful is some way. You're just going to be a beast with magic!"
At this Matt tears up, quickly burying his head into his sleeve.
His response confuses me.
'Did I say something wrong? Should I have said something other than 'useful in some way'?'
As I go to check if he's okay, he turns to me with a teary grin.
"Even if you were just saying it to make me feel better, you said I was going to be useful! Thank you!"
He pulls me into a tight hug.
In an already awkward situation, his snot starts getting on my shirt.
"Matt, Matt, it's not a big deal, really. Really, no need for hugs. Just...let...me..."
No matter how much I push at him, he doesn't let go.
'Bull shit his strength stat is only 72, it's gotta be at least 100!'
I look in Natalia's direction, who looks like she's about to burst into laughter.
After I shoot her a pleading glance, the laugh escapes her lips and she starts helping pry Matt off of me.
