Long ago, Bathala commissioned Lakan Danum, Lakan Bakod, and Lakambini to live on the surface of the earth to guide mankind in their daily lives.
Lakan Danum is the guardian of all forms of water in the world. Lakan Bakod, on the other hand, is the God of fences and guardians of crops, and Lakambini is praised for possessing both elegance and beauty. They are famous in the Pampanga region and among the Tagalogs.
Over time people have lost faith in them and have begun to live on their own two feet. They feel that their presence on earth is useless because humans can now live on their own. They decided to return to heaven and join the all-powerful Bathala.
It was also then that they learned that Bathala had brought down the other Gods as mortals to the earth. And the time came when he even brought his own children down to earth, who in turn became the new guardian of the three deities.
Bathala had four children, and Apolaki was one of them. They can only return to the sky once they finish their missions.
The three deities agreed that they would watch over the offspring of the only powerful, every day, to ensure their well-being.
A decade later, Bathala again summoned the three deities to tell them of the coming big mess. Big war. Bathala can only rebuke these three 'because there are no other Gods in heaven.
Even Bathala was not sure what exactly would happen, but he only said that there was a creature that would eat all the things floating in space, including the world inhabited by his children and of all mankind. He said it could be the end of it all.
As a result, they need to be prepared because at any time what everyone fears may come.
Bathala ordered the three deities to find Apolaki again, better known as Paul in the human world, and to explain to him what he ought to do, so that he might perform it properly.
His mission is to gather the other Gods, and he will take the lead in defending the world from the coming darkness.
Lakambini once asked the Bathala, "You are the most powerful of all, can't you face it alone?"
"I'm weakening, Lakambini. I've been through a lot, I've done a lot to try to prevent whatever evil could happen for my creations. Despite everything, I know they try to blame me, which is what it becomes because of their gradual loss of trust in me. I am indeed the strongest of all, but time will pass and someone will replace me. There is nothing that lasts forever. So I tell you, just now, we must go. One of my sons will inherit my throne, and we now need Apolaki. My time is near, as well as the coming of the end of all things in the world. Remember not only that it is for me, but for all my creatures. Go and do my command, "said Bathala.
Just as they were descending from the sky they immediately saw the light coming from somewhere. It is strange that there is such a thing as bright especially as the night deepens because the light seems to be a star that the eyes cannot see. Blindly, even the three deities can be said to be able to blind it.
When they had once been the guardians of Bathala's creations, they wondered why such an event took place on earth.
A fire broke out in the bar that night, and only one person could be thought of as the mastermind of the incident.
Apolaki.
Even before the authorities arrived at the scene of the fire, they decided to go ahead and take Apolaki elsewhere so that it would not get worse.
From the sea, they took Paul again to a lake in Batangas. There they waited for Paul to wake up again.
The three deities knew that Paul still didn't understand everything, but what was destined to happen had to happen.
When Paul woke up, they immediately approached him and talked to him.
"You, the only God of the Sun, you are Apolaki. And the light you mentioned earlier, is your father Bathala, the truly omnipotent one," Lakan Danum said while looking at the still wondering Paul.
