Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 1: DESTINY BEGINS

My cheeks felt numb for a while as her hands landed on it a while ago.

"It's too much Paul! I'm doing everything I could to make this relationship work, but it seems like it's really going to come to nothing!" She shouted at me and wiped off her tears, "Then you're going to yell at me like I made a mistake ?!" Ah! So I was the problem? I was the whose making the mistakes, Irene?" I took few steps towards her and clenched my fists.

"Yes! I'm not a toy, Paul! You're abusive! I'm helping you become one of the Dean's Listers and all of a sudden I'll hear that you're in a relationship with Criza? You're so unfair! We better end this. "I gritted my teeth in anger. I kept my eyes on her as I watch her walk away through the corridor.

Pathetic.

Did she walk away? How could she do that to me?

Never mind, there are so many girls out there, why would I waste my time to win her back? It was nice playing with her, though.

I shrugged at the thought. I smirked and put both of my hands inside my pockets. Another girlfriend lost.

Should I feel sad?

No, that's so weak.

With my bag on my back, I started walking through the same corridor she passed through. I went downstairs and there, I saw my friends who have been waiting for me to finish my discussion with Irene.

I gave them a grin. Their bored face brightens as they saw me and the three of them gave me a smile too.

Pretty funny how we can understand each other through facial expressions.

"Yes! Single again!" I heard James and gave me a high five.

"We saw Irene earlier, she was crying a lot, what did you tell her?" Carlos said to me and gave me a punch on my back shoulders."Stop being my conscience," I laughed.

"Paul lang malakas!" Cedric yelled. "Why don't we go to a bar as a celebration?"

"Celebration? For what?" I saw Carlos having question marks all over his face.

I laughed out loud.

"Seriously, it's like you're just a new friend of ours and you don't know Paul. We don't do crying, we do celebrate," James answered him. I saw how Carlos avoid our stares.

"Stop being a daddy," I said to Carlos. "You're so boring."

We all laughed and as for Carlos, he gave a weak smile.

"And we can't celebrate it for today. I'm going somewhere. Since it's Friday tomorrow, then let's do it tomorrow," I stated.

"You're so boring," Cedric said as if imitating the line I said. "Just a joke, go ahead, we're going home."

The next thing I knew is that I'm inside my father's office. In my father's cave, I'm not sure if my father really is.

"Sit down," he spoke as he sat down on his swivel chair.

I remained standing in front of his table. " Why are you sending me here?"

"Sit down, I said," he spoke again and looked directly into my eyes.

Guess who's in trouble.

I heaved a sigh and sat down on a chair in front of his table. "Why are you sending me here?" I repeated.

"I should be the one who's asking you questions," he demanded. He's not breaking the eye contact as if he'll lose if he retracts. "Are you studying really well?"

"Why?"

"I heard you're failing in two subjects," he said.

"Those are just numbers, I can't--"

"'Don't answer me like that, I can't believe that's your mindset. And at least make me proud! Remember that you'll be the inheritor of our company, Paul.' Don't feed me your answer" those are just numbers "Because for me it's not just numbers! You're such a shame!" He roared.

"Ouch,' kay 'kay," I sang. I stood up as I turned my back on him, getting out of this hell.

"Paul!" He shouted as he stood up. His face is now red and it seems like he was about to explode at any moment. "You're not even going to explain your side? What ouch? You're turning your back on me?"

I did not bother to face him. "Because you're saying all this stuff as if you have no shortcomings as a father. I even barely know who you really are. You even called me here in your office if you could just talk to me at home. I won't explain anything, "I started. "And that" ouch 'kay' kay "thing, squammy kasi yung" awts gege "kaya" ouch 'kay' kay "na lang para 'di pangit pakinggan. You taught me to act classy, right?"I can't believe that you're my son," I saw him sat down on his chair on my peripheral view.

"Then just don't," I laughed as I walked away.

I took the elevator to go to the ground floor.

As soon as the elevator opened, I took few steps and get out of the tiny room.

And there I saw people inside this building, walking back and forth, minding their own businesses. Some are walking with a bunch of papers on their hands, or a bag on the right side of their shoulders, or a phone on their left ear and talking, or maybe running as if they were being chased by a horse, with their wrinkled faces.

I just can't see myself being one of them too.

I went on my way outside and found myself walking through the noisy streets of the city.

I was walking peacefully not until someone bumped into me.

I saw the girl flinched and her eyeglasses fell. She grabs her glasses from the ground with her right hand, and a book in her left hand, moving like she's in such a hurry.

I remained standing still and waited for her to say something. I don't even bother to help her because why would I?

"S-sorry," she stuttered.

She was about to walk away, but then I grabbed her arms to stop her.

"I've been through so much this day, and you're another one, my blood is boiling because of you," I pulled her back.

I looked into her eyes to scare her. "You nerd, next time you better look at--"

I saw something weird in her eyes. It was ... it was as if it pulls me back onto something.

(There are two rival Gods who have contested the throne of Bathala, and their lights serve as the light of the whole world.)

(The place is surrounded by dead bodies and the sky turns red as if there is no life left around. Holding a corpse that once lived and fought, a handsome young man stood up and from the stand was he saw a creature that at any time could devour the whole world.)

She pulled her arms from me and it's like cold water splashed through me and brought me back to reality.

She didn't say anything and ran away.

What did I just saw?
