A/N
Everyone ready for another terrible ass jokee:
Old people at weddings always poke me and say "you're next".
So I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.
Enjoy chapter 12 ;)
Jai P.O.V. (9:00 a.m.)
"Ash.."
My body froze. I was unable to even take a single step.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and looked at where it came from.
I was the from the woman beside me, "Hey are you ok?" she had an uneasy look on her face.
I tried to nod back at her, reassuring that I was fine. But instead, I showed no reaction to it. She started to slightly shake me asking the same question, "Hey, are you ok?"
I am
And tried to tell her, but nothing came out of my mouth. I heard her sigh.
I didn't realize it, but all this time I was staring at Ashley. And she was doing the same. We both stared into one another's eyes, until the woman went inside the elevator, snapping us back to reality. Ashley quickly left the elevator as I walked in, both of us not exchanging even the tiniest glance between one another.
The short ride up was silent, but I bet both the woman and I could hear my heart pounding out of my chest. My breath was shaky as I tried to stay calm.
"I asked if you were ok. You didn't respond. It looked like you were frozen," I heard from her.
We both turned our heads at the same time and made eye contact.
"So I am going to ask the same question for the last time, now that I know you are actually listening," she continued pushing her glasses back, not breaking her eye contact with me,
"Are. You. Ok?"
I looked at her, not replying for a few seconds.
Then I smiled, "Yes, I am fine."
She sent back a small smile, "Ok, then." The elevator doors opened to her destination. The woman let a breath out and looked my way, "Well, my work is done here. I'll see you later. Or never." she smiled and walked out, her coat flowing behind her.
I realized something and was about to call her, but the doors closed on me before I could even extend my hand,
"I never got her name."
I finally reached Kai's apartment, all the while thinking about how stupid I was to not ask for the woman's name.
Something was different about her.
She didn't care if we were complete strangers.
In her mind, all she needed to make sure was that I was ok and left once she got a response.
I may or may not ever meet her again, but I won't forget what she did. Even though what she did was something so simple, it sounded different when it came out of her.
God, what am I thinking? All she did was ask if you were ok you idiot.
She is a complete stranger who you'll most likely never see again, so just forget about her.
But I couldn't.
I knocked on Kai's door and waited.
No answer.
I didn't hear footsteps or anything either, so I was going to knock again. But before I could even slightly tap the door, it immediately swung open.
"Welcome, my dear best friend!!" Kai said extending his arm further into his apartment signaling me to enter. "Um, ok. Hi to you too," I entered. "SO, what brings your arrival, here at this hour?" he asked in his attempt of a British accent.
"Well, I don't know what you mean by 'this hour', it's 9:10 a.m. I just came here because I didn't want to go home and you live on the way from where I was," I replied. "And please stop with the way you're talking, it's weird." I gave him a cringed face and then shuddered to tease him a little more. "Ugh, fine." Kai sighed in annoyance, "I just wanted to try it out because I've been watching a lot of Game of Thrones and they talk like that," he confessed and shrugged. "What? No, they don't." I replied. "Oh, then I'm thinking about the wrong show." He scratched his head in confusion. "Whatever that doesn't matter now, let's do something."
"What do you want to do?" I asked curiously. "Hmm, I actually don't know, but if you'll give me a couple of minutes, I'll figure it out." Kai smiled and gave a thumbs up to me before walking to his kitchen. "Well, while you are thinking, I have to tell you something," I leaned on his counter, and rested my chin on my hand. "Shoot, there's nothing," Kai said sticking his head into his empty fridge. "I saw Ash on the way up here." Kai immediately took his out of the fridge and shot his head towards me. His eyes widened, "What, are you serious?" I nodded and ran my fingers through my hair.
Then I realized about the incident with Sahana, "Oh and," I said. "What?" he asked.
But before I went on, I became aware of the fact that this would make Kai go insane if he knew about it.
One, it was with a woman which is bad news already.
Two, if I told him about the way we met, because of its unusuality, he would think we were destined to be together just like out of some tv drama.
And three, he'll ask if she's hot and will try finding ways to convince me that I should date her to get over Ashley. Then he will tell me that I should listen to him because he is the only trustworthy friend I have(according to him).
So, no telling Kai about what happened with Sahana. No, no, no.
"Never mind." I said.
"Hm, ok then!" he said closing his fridge, "Well, I know what we are going to do!"
"Wow, that definitely took you a couple of minutes to figure it out." I said sarcastically. Kai rolled his eyes, "Shut up. We are going to out for breakfast!" he clapped his hands. I swear this dude gets excited from littlest things.
"I already had breakfast," I said getting off from the counter. "Well I haven't, so we are going." Kai said while putting on his hoodie and coat over it.
"Which breakfast place?" I asked. Kai smiled, "Come on Jai, you know my favorite place," and opened the door. I walked out and sighed,
"Of course, it's Choco's."
