Chapter 3 - Prologue Continued...Again

No animal is quite sure when it began but they described it as if a big ugly beast awoke from its cave and shattered the stillness of the world. A great sadness swept over the earth. It sunk its claws deep below the soil and ruptured lands far and wide causing them to drift apart. Animals scattered in droves and the birds followed because the sky seemed to tear above them before their eyes. A divide split down the sky and down upon the earth to the animals' horror and the trees began to shape to their new life. On one side was a ball of light that was a blinding yellow that no animal could look at it and one animal became so blind from it that he hid deep below the earth. Behind it was a pool of the lightest blue layered with white shapes that looked as if they had come off of the downy feathers of a baby bird and been laid across the sky. In contrast to it, the other side was the deepest pool of black encasing a white ball of light that instead of blinding you it glowed to an almost imperceptible silver.

The leaves and blades of grass held a dew as if they were crying over the horror over what the earth was doing. But the worst was hearing the wind crying out in a mournful howl that put the wolves to shame.

No one knew when it stopped for their ears had gone numb from the noise but when they looked around they found that it was not the world they had once known.

The world was divided. One side held an aura of a brilliant yellow that seemed to make you glow from the inside. The other held a darkness that only lit up with the help of the silver globe above. Their world of silver was gone. And in its place was a world that seemed stuck in an in-between that radiated a sadness from deep beneath its core.

After the initial shock had worn off the animals they realized that the two humans were missing. They searched high in low but no signs of them could be found. No animal could find their scent or any indication that something awful had befallen them. They had simply vanished along with the peace the world had once held.

The earth gave up on itself after seeing the perfection of the other two and in their place came more like them but these new people held flaws within them and had less respect for their fellow man and nature so that animals steered clear of them entirely.

After a while, the animals stopped talking to people so much so that it was soon forgotten that they could talk entirely and they started being used as nothing but a source of food to the people of the world.

One day however the slightest shift in the world was felt by the other creatures. After a minute they recognized they felt...hope, and it came in the form of two babies being born separated by the divide...
