"My Bidding was terrible."
"How so?"
"I spoke during it-- I really didn't want to go with Erik. The person who was standing there looked like a complete creep. I though he would rape me or something."
Lucas then started to laugh.
"You mean Borris? Erik actually gave him that name because he looked like he was from a Russian Mafia or something."
He then began to break into a laughing fit, making me crack a smile. It was weird-- why would they send a person who wasn't even in the Head of Domains to be a representative in the Bidding?
"Why did you slap my hand earlier at the Dinning Hall?"
He stopped laughing. An audible sigh came from the other side of the room, making me a bit worried of his mental state.
"It's a scar my Shiki gave me."
I gasped-- if any Shiki were to harm an object, it would be fine, however for males it was another story.
"Why? What happened? What did they do to you?"
"My Shiki was actually a-- Female. And one time I made fun of her for being fat when she was actually pregnant and going through some bad times with her home family, so she took the kettle she was boiling and poured it on me."
"So it's a burn scar?"
"Yeah."
We sat in silence for the next few minutes, just pondering what each other had said. What he said next was more surprising.
"Wanna see it?"
My curiosity took over and I gave in. I climbed out of my rack and walked over to his bed, sitting over on the foot side. He sat up, uncovering his face from his hair. Reaching over, he tapped a lamp besides him which turned on the light, and I saw his face up close. His blue eyes seemed to pop out at me, completely contrary to what you'd expect with someone with black hair. Then I saw it. A large red mark laying over his right eye. What was even more interesting was that he'd begun to develop white hair-- but not as in old age white, but angelic white.
Author's Note: Like Todoroki in MHA but without cool powers, a baby face, and the red hair on the right side.
"Has anyone else seen this? It's—"
I went to go in and touch it when he moved away a bit. Just when I thought the conversation was over, he leaned his head over my shoulder.
"To be honest, I've been waiting for someone like you."
"Hm?"
"Someone to talk to... someone that understands my pain."
Then I realized— he was doing this for the sake of himself as a reminder to seal off his own past.
"You need to let go of it all."
He looked up from my shoulder, his face getting close to mine.
"You just— you need to let the past be the past. We are the present, and we make the future."
I leaned in to go and hug him, when he turned my head and kissed me.
"Mmnh?!"
"I'm sorry—was that too much? I just—"
"It's fine..."
I looked into his face this time, his eyes filled with despair and sadness. He saw me looking at him longingly, and closed his eyes.
"I'be been so alone all this time."
"No wonder."
I lay there with him in his rack, snuggled up against his body. For the first time in a while, I felt at home. It wasn't artificial either, because I knew this home would be my forever home. I knew that if I was a good servant to my master, I would be granted more time to stay. I smiled, thinking of all of the things that had happened. Maybe this life wouldn't be so bad after all.
I woke up to find myself back in my original bed, and to see Lucas waking me up.
"Hey, Laura. It's time for your Welcome Breakfast."
"Nnnhhg— why so early?"
I glanced down at my watch, the time showing just a few minutes prior to 5AM.
"Fine— I'll get up."
After getting dressed in possibly the most fitting suit I've ever seen, I walked out into the brightly lit corridor. It still seemed a dream to me— the decorated interior, the chandelier, the gold-encrusted plates. It was as if I was living in a fairy tail. I saw Erik sitting with Clark at the first round table with a few other important looking figures.
"Why hello there, Miss Laura!"
A tall man wearing a trench coat with glistening eyes and short blue hair shot around.
"And you'll be?"
I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Hahahaha! You're a funny one, aren't you? I'm Mr. Keeneth. This is my cupcake. Ah— Her name's Kira though."
He smiled at the blonde woman who blushed behind him. Erik then cleared his throat and stood up.
"These are my guests— they come from the boarder. They help me sneak in the necessary items we need to actually get this whole thing rolling."
Just as I was going to ask a question, I was ushered to sit down by Lucas and Clark, and then sandwiched between the two. There was definitely something going on between the two that I was unaware of, because during the entire breakfast, they played footsie with each other and ended up kicking me a bunch in the process.
"Enough, you two."
I grabbed them by the ears and pinched.
"Ahh?!"
"Gah!"
They both turned there head to look at me, and then to look at each other to have a mental warfare thinking about god knows what. Then it was time for Erik to speak.
"We all must welcome Laura here,"
He made a gesture over to me, still handling Clark and Lucas who were fooling around at the table. People laughed.
"I guess she won't need our protection, she seems to have that covered."
More laughter trickled throughout the audience.
"Anyways, Welcome to the Rebellion, Laura. It is my pleasure to introduce you to our Head of Internal Investigations, Keeneth. But of course— we all call him blueberry here."
He laughed at his own joke, and more joined him. The same man I'd met earlier with blue hair entered the stage, and began to spoke.
"As you all know, I've begun to make progress— significant progress actually since I've joined. First off, I've managed to buy the official files and ONLY copies for the rest of the Elites that we needed to blackmail."
He paused as the room erupted with an applause.
"The next big thing I've been working on."
He turned around to have a screen drop down behind him, showing a picture of a familiar face.
"This is Alicastair Henson. The #5 Royal whom I know you must all be familiar with. A while back, he had a case thrown against him for having his object do an inhumane act against the System, but that was appealed and lifted by his brother, Castair Henson— the #1 Royal."
Silence filled the room. It was big news to hear this much in a short period of time.
"What's more. I've convinced him to vouch for us. But no worries, at the moment, he still thinks we are a starter Rebellion with the location at the abduction zone that the Authorities use. Either way, he will be on our side."
