Chapter 1 - Chapter 1-The Island

Part 1- The entrancing Island

My name is Amelia Robertson and I am going to share my strenuous journey with you. I used to be a globetrotter as I loved travelling and exploring new places, but 3 years ago a similar journey changed my life forever!

It was my difficult journey to Minacious Island, with 3 of my other friends who like me were a fan of adventures. Minacious Island, as its name suggests, is a remote island in the Pacific Ocean. It is said to be a dangerous and mysterious island with a mystery that remains unsolved. It has a crater deep in its flattish-green jungles described as the "evil space" in the woods. The local tribes there tell visitors to avoid it has getting near it would make you feel sick and unwell, some have even disappeared, leaving no traces behind. Even the animals avoid it. We started early in the morning. It would take us about 14 days to reach the island. The first few days were alright but then...horror stuck us. Suddenly everyone onboard started to feel nauseous and faint, everyone except me.

I helped them to stand on their feet and told them to rest while I would manage everything on the ship. We had 5 more days left by then. As days passed things started getting worse on the ship and no one except me was well. Something about the island excited me while the others would shiver whenever I mentioned its name. When about 2 days were left, that's when things really went wrong. All of our food and materials suddenly disappeared, there was nothing left on the ship, but just us. We were hungry and exhausted but, we tried to hold ourselves together and not lose hope and just one more day was left right, so I mean what could possibly go wrong? Turns out...EVERYTHING! During the night we heard a loud thud and when we are coming to see what happened we saw that the ship had a giant hole and water was filling up. I was terrified! We didn't know what to do and there was no way that we had a massive hole in our boat.

We got that best boat and there was nothing in the way that would cause this but of course time doesn't wait for anyone, so there was no time to loose, but before we knew what happened next, we all just fainted and when my eyes opened, I found out that we were on the island and our ship was wrecked! It was morning already. As I got up to move and help the others, I felt unbearable pain in my legs and arms. Pretending I was alright, I got up.

After a few minutes when we all were ready, we started moving uphill as that's where we would find the crater. As we were moving, I kept on hearing an eerie whispering but no one else could hear it so I tried to ignore it. After trekking for at least 2 hours we reached a local tribe village and the people there were very welcoming but they all had a weird smile on their faces. I mean smiles are good.... but there was gloom behind them. They kept on warning us to not go near the crater as it would be extremely dangerous and the results might be horrific, but hearing all of this made me even more eager to go there but not for my other friends. They said it was best if we head back as we would have to risk our lives but I somehow convinced them to get there anyways.

Then we started climbing again. We reached the jungle and the whispers vanished. I was relieved that it was gone but it made me feel that there was danger ahead. The whispers were like warnings and now that they were gone, I couldn't stop thinking about them. When I looked back, I saw that one of us was missing! We were 4 altogether but now we were just 3.

After hours of searching for Isabelle we couldn't find her. The others said that it was better that we start going back but it was me again that persuaded them to continue the journey. I hated myself for making that decision and leaving Isabelle behind, wherever she was, but I couldn't stop myself. After a couple of hours, we heard a loud scream. We pretended that we never heard the scream and started moving ahead.

Now here was the hardest part to climb. There were rocks and bumpy paths ahead. We started climbing and just then Liam slipped but I held his hand so he didn't fall. The climb kept on getting harder and harder, and then we finally reached the crater! For a second, I was glad we reached the top but again I regretted my decision just seconds after.

I stared having headaches and Liam who was behind me disappeared as well!! I was shocked yet guilty as this was all my fault. Around the crater the atmosphere was different, it was colder and breathing was hard. From 4 we were just 2 now-Me and Mia. We went even closer to the crater. There was a sign and something was written on it but we couldn't understand as it wasn't in English. We both were scared and tired but we still continued. We saw a hole in the crater, it looked like a secret passage. It wasn't just like any secret passage, it gave us vibes as if something was hidden underneath, or perhaps a connection to another world! Something when discovered will dismantle the whole world down. As we moved towards it to get a clearer view, my headache became unbearable and I started feeling sick. Same for Mia.

We wanted to solve this mystery and we definitely didn't want to go back barehanded after everything that happened. We moved closer and then we heard a voice. It was the eerie whispers again telling us to go away before matters get even worse. Mia told me to stop but I kept on going and then I heard a scream, it was Mia's! She was gone too and it was just me now. I still moved closer and then something grabbed my legs and I didn't look down because it would probably be the worse. As I got closer to it, the thing that was holding my legs pulled me down and my eyes closed tight shut.

The next thing I knew was that I was surrounded by the tribesmen in their village. They saved me from whatever it was and they weren't willing to tell me what it was. Their smiles were gone and they looked angry.

I saw all the others there as well and was glad that they were alive. We are stuck there for a couple of days as our ship was wrecked but the local tribes knew how to contact our families and so they did.

The days on the island were weird. Every night I would hear the eerie whispers again, even while I was sleeping. The local people weren't that kind anymore and they all made unpleasant faces to us every time they saw us. I wondered if it had to do something with the climb as before they were very kind to us.

The day that we were leaving the smiles on the local people's faces were back and they were nice to us once again. I started feeling awkward around them and was glad that this nightmare was over!

As we flew over the island the crater was visible and I could see something glittering from the top. I was perhaps eager once again to go there but I couldn't risk it.

Hopefully someday, someone will solve this mystery for us and tell us all why this crater was so entrancing as it captured my interests for sure.

The day we came back to our home, I felt relieved and apologized to my friends especially Isabelle for making wrong decisions. Isabelle didn't remember anything that happened, anything after we reached the local village and soon all the others started forgetting bits. I didn't want to forget these memories and I didn't. These 3 years of life have been the best! People would call me for interviews and podcasts and question me about our journey as I was the only one who could remember everything. Perhaps there was someone just like me out there and we together could reveal the secrets that the crater was hiding.

That crater will never be forgotten, at least not by me!

Its been 3 years but it still feels like 3 days to me. I can't just stop here, I have to figure it out! So I have done a lot of research on the crater in the past 3 years to know as much as possible about the crater.
