Chapter 2 - chapter 2. Red and Black

Red.

Everything is red here.

Where I am?

Am I alive?

I look around, there are only lots of red paint in here. Is that paint or something else? At a distance, I find one girl. Her back is turned towards me so I can't see her face.

'Hello.' I call out but she didn't respond nor look back.

'Can you hear me.' I ask her again. Seems like she can't hear me.

I walk towards her and put my hand on her shoulder. She looks back slowly. My eyes widen and I stumble back. She has my face.

'Who are you?' I ask but she just looks at me blankly with no emotions.

'Why didn't you save me?' She asks.

A feeling of stigma hit me. I look at her not knowing anything. She just gets vanished in the air. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion.

___

I open my eyes and a small yawn escaped from my mouth. I look around and find myself in a different room than before. Maybe they shift me here.

I am not dead.

It was just a dream.

I look around and find a bed beside me. One old woman is laying on the bed. She has wrinkles on her face still her eyes are shining with hope.

She just feels my gaze on her. She looks at me and gives me a polite smile.

"Hi, sweety. What is your name?" She asks.

"I am Aspen," I reply with a smile.

"Why you got admitted here?" She asks.

"I have brain damage," I reply softly.

She smiles and pats my hand. We were interrupted by doctor books. He came inside the room with a bright smile.

"Hi, grandmother. Do you want to do the treatment?" Doctor brooks ask.

"No I don't want to I am old enough and I will die someday." Old woman reply.

"Are you sure?" The doctor asks again.

"Yeah, there is no point in wasting money behind me." The old woman said.

"Alright, then we respect your decision." Dr. Brooks give her a polite smile and look at me.

"How are you feeling Aspen?" He asks.

"Not bad," I reply.

He nods and left the room. I sigh. And look at the old woman again.

"Do you know Aspen? Life is hard. Sometimes we are happy and next, we are sad."

"But it didn't give us reason to give up on ourselves."

"We have to go through every period of time and be strong."

"Life has no regrets just lessons."

"So face our difficulties with head held high."

The grandma finished with a sigh. She is right. Yeah, she is. She has more experience than me.

"Thank you," I said to her.

"Why?" She asks with confusion.

"Thank you for helping me. I was feeling down." I reply. She chuckles.

It was my honest thought. I will fight for myself. For my existence.

The old lady looks at me dreamingly. Her eyes examine my soul as she can see me. Like she can see part of me.

Can she?

"Aspen?" She said.

"Yeah?" I ask back.

"No matter what happens never give on your life." She gives me a pat on my hand.

"I will granny," I said.

"Promise me." She raises her hand and waits for me. I place my palm on her and with no regrets I said.

"It's a promise."

"Please never forgot me and cherish me in your memories." She said this time more seriously.

"I will." I frown.

Why she is talking like this. Suddenly her eyelids stop moving. I frown. I pull her hand to get her attention but she didn't move. Not even an inch.

Slowly I shook her but no response.

"Grandmother," I call.

The only response I get is silence.

"Grandmother," I call her again.

Silence.

"Please talk to me," I said almost pleadingly.

Silence.

"I am scared," I said.

Silence.

Then my eyes land on the heart monitor beside her. There is a straight line.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeppppppp.....

It rings in my ears.

Then I froze. Completely froze.

Dr. Brooks and Sofia came inside running. Dr. Brooks check grandmother and a wave to concern get into his face while looking at me. He smiles at me.

But I didn't.

"She is dead." Dr. Brooks announced.

Other staff come running inside instantly and start taking the old lady with them.

Her movements are still. Her wrinkled face is paler than usual and her wrinkles stop moving. She looks completely froze. Then the staff closed her eyes.

Then the realization hit me hard like a stone.

She is gone.

Gone forever.

She is dead.

And I can never meet her.

Then I understand the meaning of her words. Her last words. The last words were shared with me.

'Please never forgot me and cherish me in your memories.'

___

Its a room.

There is no light here.

I get bad vibes.

I walk in dark to find the way out but it's not working.

Where am I?

Why it's so dark here?

Thinking thus I try to call someone but my lips didn't move. I try again but it's useless. My lips quiver a little. But no voice.

Instantly I feel panic.

Oh no.

I stood up and start running towards to escape but its too dark. I cant see a thing.

I run and run until my feet hurt and I fall down on the ground panting heavily.

What's going on?

Why this is happening to me?

Please help.

I did a silent protest. It's useless. I feel scared. Absolutely no light. Not even a little bit. I close my eyes shut and took deep breaths.

I try to clam myself. There is nothing to lie. I am scared, too frightened.

Black and grey.

'Where I am?'

Into the dark where shadows laugh.

They laugh at you.

Yeah, they laugh at you fool.

I run and escape.

But only if I knew there is no end.

Black and grey.

Where I am?

Into the dark where shadows laugh.

They laugh at you.

'They laugh at me?'

Send me to heaven,

Where I find raven.

Raven with black and grey eyes.
