The way he said those words to her about her father, the way he said that he never liked her for once, the way, he demanded her for a divorce, everything was just heart-breaking. He knew that Da-Jung loved him a lot.
She used to keep on telling him that she loves him and that she fell in love with him at first sight... Now that he thought about her words, Woo-Jin felt that Da-Jung was the one who was hurt more than him.
Even if they had been married for four years, Woo-Jin hadn't loved her as much as Da-Jung loved him. Nevertheless, he liked those days he spent with her. Everything was worth it!
Taking the ring which was inside in the box, Woo-Jin put it in his finger. It was a little tight but still fitted him and also looked good on his hand.
"If I say that I would want those days back, will you give them back to me? Will you agree?" He mumbled those words while kissing the ring on his finger. "I think... I..."
*KNOCK-KNOCK*
As Woo-Jin heard a knock on the door, he immediately began to take his ring off from his hand. "What? Why is it not coming out?" He asked himself while struggling to pull it out. As he exerted more force, he felt pain and rubbed over his finger to reduce the pain.
"Mr. Yang Woo-Jin, are you asleep?"
When Da-Jung's cute voice rang in his ear, he immediately kept the box inside the drawer and answered "I'm not! Just a minute, I will open the door." He hastily stood up from his bed and walked towards the door.
As he opened, he saw Da-Jung standing with a rectangular box in her hand. It was the same box which his mother had gifted her on their wedding night. But why was it in her hand?
"Can I get in?"
After too much pondering about the box which Woo-Jin's mother gave her, Da-Jung decided to speak with Woo-Jin. When she had just opened the door of her room to come out, she saw Woo-Jin's mother knocking on his door.
So, she decided to go in later. After some twenty minutes or so, Da-Jung again came out of her room and looked around to verify if someone was around or not. When she saw no one around, she walked to his room and knocked on his door.
"G... Get... In!" Da-Jung stepped inside the room and heard the clicking sound of the door which indicated that the door was closed.
She noticed the dull atmosphere inside the room and squinted her eyes. 'This wasn't how Woo-Jin always kept his room, did he?' Da-Jung mumbled.
"So... what is it?" Woo-Jin hid his left hand inside his pocket. He couldn't show her the ring. That ring wasn't even coming off easily. Ugh! How stupid he was... to try that ring out of the blue?
"This family heirloom." Da-Jung turned around and showed the box which was in her hand. The way they were standing and communicating made things awkward and Da-Jung couldn't even dare to look up in his eyes.
When she received no response even after some while, Da-Jung lifted her eyes and saw him looking at her with a questionable look on his face. Thinking that he took it wrong, Da-Jung immediately started to explain.
She narrated everything as to how Woo-Jin's mother gave him this heirloom even after her saying a no and making her forcefully take it.
Woo-Jin listened to it like a story and walked to the bed. He knew that she was going to tell him to take it and give it back to his mother... So, he sat on the bed and crossed his legs over the other. With a playful smile on his face, he looked at Da-Jung who was giving him a puzzled expression and asked "So, you want me to take it back and give it to my mom?"
"Y... YES!"
Da-Jung continuously gave a nod. If she was to hand it back to him, then her problem would be solved. She couldn't take this family heirloom because she was not Woo-Jin's wife anymore. It was to be given to his next wife.
"You already know that I have no say when it comes to my mother's words, right?" Woo-Jin asked while looking at his finely shaped nails.
"But..."
"I can't take it so, I won't , Miss Byeon. If you want to give, please speak to my mother regarding it."
"But..."
As she was speaking, her eyes fell on the ring which was in his left hand. "Why are you wearing that ring?" The question just left her mouth at the spur of the moment. She immediately covered her mouth with her hand and noticed Woo-Jin hiding his hand behind his back.
Da-Jung couldn't mistake that ring... It was the ring she had given to Woo-Jin on their first month anniversary. She had gone into lot of trouble to buy that couple ring. It was a limited edition and there were too many customers who wanted that couple ring. Since, money wasn't her problem, Da-Jung had bought it with ease and gifted it to Woo-Jin, the same day itself.
That ring looked so good on his hands that Da-Jung couldn't forget it at all. So, why was Woo-Jin wearing that ring now?
Knowing that he was caught, Woo-Jin felt it futile to pretend that he didn't know what she was talking about. Instead, he decided to come clean. "I just... I was trying it out and I think it got stuck in my hand." He scratched the back of his head and gave a bashful smile.
Da-Jung was surprised a little. She subconsciously nodded and took a step back. The ring in his hand bothered a lot and his reply bothered her even more. She just wanted to leave as quickly as possible lest they would end up in a different situation.
"Okay! I will talk with your mother about the heirloom… as for the ring..." She walked to the door and opened it. "As for the ring use some soap on your finger, it will come out easily." With that, she slammed the door and left.
