Chapter 196 - Insults, Divorce And Karma

SUMMER, END OF APRIL, 2018

Even if summer had just started, Woo-Jin could feel the hot rays of sun on his skin. Just a few minutes under the sunlight and he could feel his body heating up. But it was nothing compared to the words he heard from his father-in-law about him.

"He is someone who just gets fed by our money, Da-Jung. It is fine if he is asking for a divorce. Go for it!"

The words were like an insult to him. He was okay with being taunted every time but this insult… Woo-Jin didn't know that he held such a position in Da-Jung's family.

That winter when the two were almost on the verge of breaking up, Woo-Jin had decided to give her a chance. Well, he hadn't loved her in the start and married her only for money but as soon as he spent more and more time with her, he had come to a realization that Da-Jung was meant for him.

And he was loving her as much as he could, even more than that.

But those words...

They insulted his pride, they insulted his love for her. THEY WERE JUST AN INSULT FOR HIM.

He felt ashamed of himself, at the same time, HE HATED IT.

It was not that Woo-Jin was the one who had made his destiny like this. Even he wanted to be born in a rich family and not just a poor one. Why could people not see that he also had dreams and wanted to be someone like those rich people?

All they saw was his clothes and his style which was too old for this rich modern world. And Woo-Jin was ashamed of that. However, one day he had met someone who didn't point out any difference in him. And instead of being thankful with her, he had played with her until he realized that he loved her.

While she liked him with all her heart, he had never liked her and only wanted her money but when he fell for her, he wanted nothing but HER in his life. But maybe that was too much to ask for.

The early summer of 2018, it was the first time, a man who never believed in God cried while asking him as to why his life was so dull and plain, why there was no happiness, why his life was just void, why he had to let go of the girl he liked, and why he was born poor?

He had asked many questions and all he received was silence.

As Woo-Jin handed the divorce paper to Da-Jung's father, he did hear Da-Jung yell and scream at him but he just couldn't look at her in the eye.

"I never liked you, Da-Jung!" He had cold-heartedly replied and then walked away.

That day Da-Jung felt like she had lost her life. Even if she was walking and moving, she didn't feel like she was in her right mind. The paper which was in front of her, she wanted to tear it but why was she even signing it?

Ahh! Right! It was the cold reply which she received from him when she had asked him if he liked her even a little bit… Thinking about that, Da-Jung wished if she could just kill herself. And yes, she did! She cut her wrist when no one was watching her. However, she didn't know that her committing suicide would cause such a big impact on her family.

Her father went in coma. And she was in debt.

However, the person she wanted to see when she was in hospital, she never saw him.

When her father went into coma, she called Woo-Jin many times but the call was never picked up. Later when she ran to his house to meet him, she saw the "For Sale" signboard near the house.

It was a shock to her.

Da-Jung and Woo-Jin had lived in this house for four years and how could the house be put up for sale just like that?

"Why would you…" Before Da-Jung could speak more, she received a call from Woo-Jin. Immediately she picked up and they both met at a small café nearby their house. A café which they frequently visited.

Da-Jung was very much happy to see him. In fact she even pleaded him to get back into her life. She told him about her father's situation and was very much taken aback by his answer.

"So the old man who had a big mouth is now silent? Tsk! Serves him right!"

It was Woo-Jin's happiest news of the day. Those taunts and everything which he always used to hear from Da-Jung's father had made his heart hard like a stone and he didn't even care what he was saying about the old man who was lying on the bed, all still and unmoving.

"It is good that it happened. I guess this is what you call KARMA!" He smiled.

*PA*

And Da-Jung slapped him. She did think that maybe he would be happy to hear the news but she didn't expect him to spout such indecent words towards her father.

"NO ONE DARE SAY ANYTHING TO MY PARENTS!"

Woo-Jin chuckled upon noticing Da-Jung's change in behavior. She was just like her parents. "I was wondering as to why you were quiet even now… well how can an apple fall far from the tree? Don't you agree that birds of a feather flock together, right Da-Jung?" He chuckled again.

Da-Jung pushed herself off from the chair. She realized that it was futile to now beg him to get back together. She sacrificed so much for Woo-Jin and all she heard was that birds of a feather flock together?

She laughed menacingly and slammed her hands on the table "You are right, Mr. Yang! Birds of a feather flock together and that is the reason why you are also poor like your parents." She gave a winning smile and walked away after watching Woo-Jin fume up with anger.

The day when they got divorced was the start of their life which was going in opposite directions – a rich life for Woo-Jin and a poor life for Da-Jung.
