He scratched the back of his neck and grunted. Now he realized how difficult it was to confess something to a girl. It was very much difficult compared to standing and sharing project ideas in a meeting room filled with people.
When Sang Hoon opened his mouth to speak, he felt his throat drying up and he walked inside the kitchen to get water. Well, this was going to be easier to communicate with her or so, he thought.
As he saw her just steps away from her, he realized that the words which he wanted to say were just walking away from his mind like thin air. And he didn't think that he was staring at her with his eyes opened wide.
Ah-Yeong was waiting for her cup noodles to get perfectly cooked but she felt some eyes on her. She looked at Sang Hoon who was looking at her in a rather weird way and she couldn't help but frown.
This was the second time or maybe third, she couldn't understand why Sang Hoon was staring at her without blinking his eyes.
"Umm... You need something?"
Sang Hoon broke out from his trance and shook his head. He drank the water in the glass and took a deep breath.
"I... I had to tell you something."
And they both sat face to face on the sofa. Sitting on the sofa made Ah-Yeong blush because her mind instantly flashed the images of yesterday's happenings. She began missing Dae-Hyun.
"So..." Just as Sang Hoon was about to speak, his eyes fell on her left hand. The ring wasn't there.
"Is the ring not to your liking?" And he couldn't help but ask. He was wearing his ring everywhere but his wife wasn't wearing the ring. It was a couple ring actually and he wanted to buy even better one but there wasn't enough time for him to do so.
So, he had bought a simple one. Currently when he saw her ring finger empty, he couldn't help but feel hurt.
Realizing that she wasn't wearing her ring, Ah-Yeong immediately hid her hand behind her back and gave a sheepish smile.
"It wasn't that. It was just I took a bath and forgot to wear it afterwards." This was another lie.
As she saw him nod, she asked "So, what did you had to say?"
At this moment, Sang Hoon again felt his throat drying and he excused himself to get water. Hurriedly, he drank the water and returned.
"Well, the thing is..." And little by little, he told what he wanted to say.
He was very much hoping a positive reply from her because he felt that he wasn't giving her enough time just like how a husband was supposed to give to a wife. All day he was just at work and they had also adjusted to sleeping alone in separate rooms.
If they were to go on a trip, the first thing which had to be changed was that they should sleep together rather than sleeping in different rooms or on different beds. He internally noted this point in his mind.
And he crossed his fingers anxious to hear something promising from her.
"I... don't think, we can go on a trip together."
"Huh?"
Like a glass breaking into pieces, Sang Hoon's hope shattered and he looked at her surprised.
Despite of knowing how desperate Sang Hoon was to go on a trip together with her, Ah-Yeong declined. It was because she thought that it was better to keep on distancing herself from Sang Hoon. Since, Dae-Hyun had told her to do so.
And to make it clear for him, she lied again.
"Students have to submit their projects and I have to prepare them for it. So, that's why, I am sorry, I can't accompany you."
While Ah-Yeong was declining to it, Sang Hoon was determined to go on a trip with her.
"Okay, let's change the timing to whenever you are free."
Ah-Yeong hesitantly nodded and stood up. She quickly rushed back to her room afraid that she would have to spend any more time with Sang Hoon. She locked the door behind her, took her phone and sat on the bed.
"These many calls???" She looked at the number of missed calls on her phone from Dae-Hyun and hurriedly dialed his number.
After two rings, she heard his annoyed voice.
"So, are you gonna call me now?"
"I had gone to the kitchen to eat cup noodles. I left my phone in the room itself." She tittered.
"You are still eating cup noodles?" Dae-Hyun kept his index finger on his lips and instructed the woman to be quiet, who had just stepped outside of the bathroom wearing a bath towel.
"Yes, I am." Ah-Yeong lied down on the bed and chuckled.
"Why? Don't tell me you still didn't learn..." As he said that, he stepped out of his bed and walked towards the woman who was drying her hair using a towel. He hugged her from behind and licked her neck.
"I was waiting for you. You said that you would cook for me everyday."
Hearing her childish reply, Dae-Hyun pretended to chuckle. Right now, when his beautiful girlfriend was in front of him there was no need for him to talk with his ex-girlfriend. After getting aroused by her, he cancelled the call and threw the phone on the bed.
The woman named Park Eun Jin, turned around and spoke with an annoyed tone before giving a smirk "Do you really have to act lovey-dovey with that woman?"
Dae-Hyun held her face in his hand and traced her lips with his thumb. With a sly smile on his face, he kissed Eun Jin before saying "That woman had completely torn me and now she should experience the same pain which I faced back then."
While saying these words, Dae-Hyun no longer had that gentle look in his eyes which he had when he took care of Ah-Yeong.
The breakup had changed him so much that he only and only came back to take revenge. The woman who broke his heart despite of pleading, he wanted to do the same with her. And yes, he was very close to reach his goal.
