Chapter 1 - Expedition Team 4la6

" Commander wait! Commander Sarns please!" a voice called out through the corridors of the council's embassy.

Sarns pace began to quicken as the mountain of a man attempted to ignore the pleas of an extremely persistent annoyance.

" Commander Sarns please this is an urgent matter, i swear you will want to hear this!" Bethany was persistant.

" Doctor Willow i haven't the slightest bit of patience nor time to spare for your imaginative ideas." Sarns sighed.

He wasn't a fan of the doctor due to countless attempts to undermine his progress in exploring other worlds for resources. Bethany had repeatedly sought to slow him because of her belief that mankind was reaching too far. Nevertheless her efforts always fell on deafened minds.

"Commander Im not here to petition your efforts but to request your laboratory staff's aid in investigating what happens to the units you continue to lose to galaxy 12 expeditions so if you could please" Bethany pleaded as sarns cast his gaze on her to shut her up.

Sarns's eyes emitted an intimidating glare as he spoke " Doctor Willow you are beginning to overstep your bounds. I humbly suggest you go back to your experiments and pointless endeavors in the absence of my presence."

" For someone so strong you truly seem to be weak of mind Sarns"

"Goodbye doctor" Sarns started away once more as the silenced Bethany stood in place.

"Could you please just take a look at my findings? You may see some use in my work."

" Im late for a meeting doctor. Have a good day."

With this bethany gave up and trudged her way back home. Her home seemed very simple but in truth it is a quite complex home. It consists of four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a basement and attic, kitchen, and a rather large family room. However simple it may look the home is equipped with a better living AI like most home. intended to make life easier. Bethany had modified her home with the intent of assisting her scientifically.

As she walked through the door she was greeted with metallic hello of which she simply shrugged off. Making her way to the kitchen Bethany poured herself a glass of wine and proceeded to walk downstairs to the basement where her lab was. She slumped down into a comfy office chair and sighed.

" What would it take for these old fools to pay attention to those whom know better?"

"Beeeeeep" suddenly a machine accross the lab started spewing white noise and beeping sounds that startled her.

The doctor rushed over as fast as she could to the machine to shut it down as if she were afraid of something.

" Maybe you could make them listen"

She shut the machine off and made her way back to her seat. After a moment of relaxing the lab door flung open as a rather pleasant looking young woman wearing a white coat came through holding what appeared to be a spiky slug as far away from her as she could.

" Mom can you please teach this thing to not eat my socks. It just ate my favourite pair and it even spit that yucky blue stuff all over my bed"

" Im sorry Allara. He is just lonely is all" Bethany carefully took the slug like creature and placed it in a clear box on the nearest table where it began to roll around as if it were playing.

" Fog is the only Coryna we managed to find so i imagine he is quite alone these days. Nevertheless he is helpful"

" Mom i love you but that thing is as helpful as an infection. When are you going to give up on this crazy witch hunt, i mean i get it but you are starting to worry me"

" Allara ive told you countless times. lives depend on this."

" that may be so but its been months since there has been any kind of transmission from them"

" expedition team 41a6 sent a transmission that stated they were attacked by what appeared to be a savage human and if im correct that may be because they are on mankinds home world."

" mom... what are the odds that maybe it was pirates. i mean come on these things happen all the time" Allara began to plead with her mother as she paced back and forth, " and besides even if they were savages why would we have a need to seek them out"

" Ask yourself Allara, Why would the be savage human being living on an unmapped world? Why would they be so far from home with no way back? Does it not seem strange?"

"It is strange mom but I dont see a use in it. We should focus on keeping the Gavancians at bay instead of chasing ghost" Allara stormed away into the house.

Bethany knew her daughter was right but still believed finding answers would help. She had hope that the lost humans may be able to help in the fight against the gavancians.

The gavancians were a humanoid nomad race. They had slightly paler skin and natural tattoo looking birthmarks around their bodies. Being nomads the gavancians had moved around the universe so much that they didnt even know where home was. When humans began exploring the gavancians took a disliking to them for their lack of connection to nature and weakness to corruption. This eventually led to a war that mankind would lose. the gavancians had better weaponry and survival skills. They often led the war to planets mankind had not studied leaving them at a very large disadvantage. With the shifting warzones and less training mankind was failing to defend itself in this war.

Yet still Bethany beleived they had a chance. She held out hope that somewhere on a forgotten world they would find the key to peace.
