Chapter 147 - The Devil

Aiden's only a few feet away and his hands shaking with whatever he's building up. I don't know what he's doing, why he isn't attacking, but his eyes are intent, and his clothing and hair lashing the rest of him in the force of the wind he's creating.Β 

Then there's a shuddering growl from the middle of that black mess around his hands, and I whisper, oh no.Β 

It begins behind him, a staggering darkness that seems to crawl out of the magic whirling around him, out of his back, and begins to form and grow into a hulking, clawed shape behind him. He's conjuring that demon beast again, and my knees feel weak.

What's wrong? Chase whispers in my head.
