A white cross of light appeared in the center of a party. Azrael appeared from it before the teleportation cross disappeared. This all happened quickly and only those with superhuman reflexes would notice it.
Upon seeing him, the crowd applauded. Among them were mostly system workers, a group of angels, and some gods and goddesses.
This welcome party surprised him. He spotted Charles in the crowd who came out to greet him.
"Our hero, Azrael, the archangel of death and also known as the God of reincarnation, has arrived. Let us all watch his heroics of today." Charles said, lightly placing his hand on Azrael's back.
They were in the System's party room that was constructed recently. They styled it as a fancy ballroom.
A video projection lit up on a wall and showed a clip of Azrael driving inside the Iron Knight truck.
Azrael got nervous thinking that they'll all see him letting loose. Charles leaned in and said, "Don't worry, I edited the video."
After he said this, Azrael noticed that in the video he was wearing the same clothes as now. A fancy black tuxedo and a black shirt with a red bow tie. Whereas in reality, he was wearing his Hawaii beach outfit.
Rather than a sadistic grin on his face, in the video, he had a serious face.
The audio was projected throughout the room.
Azrael in the video placed his fingers over his forehead.
"Now, regretfully your life will end. However!"
His hands struck out from his face to the side.
"I know you will become a great hero in the next life!"
His hands retracted, and his palm faced up.
"It is this sacrifice that you will understand the true meaning of death! Ergo life! I believe the sacrifice today will pale compared to the virtuous actions you'll make in the future.
"Now! Seize your destiny! Become a hero!" He said closing his fist.
When the truck hit Elijah he yelled "Reincarnate! Isekai!!!"
After hitting Elijah, there was a subtle look of sadness on his face. A tear sneakily escaped from the pink corner of his eye (lacrimal caruncle). His finger dabbed the tear under it before it rolled further down his face.
"Good luck Elijah Whitlock. You have my blessing…"
There was even sad music playing in the background of this segment. The video faded to black.
The entire crowd applauded. Some of them were wiping tears from their eyes while other gods knew better, but they found it entertaining and joined in.
"Thanks, although some will see through this, this will help repair my image," Azrael whispered in gratitude.
"Not at all, not at all. We are close friends after all." Charles smiled back.
Charles' suddenly had an alarmed expression when he received an important notification.
He then smiled and said "My friend, enjoy the rest of the party. I need to go tie up loose ends."
"Glad I could help brother," Azrael said placing a hand on Charles' shoulder.
Charles then warped away with the System menu.
A group of angels and some workers were approaching him to congratulate him, but a scorned woman roared as she teleported in.
Yellow gold-like coins dispersed into the air as a theatrical effect of her teleportation.
A strip of cloth blindfolded her, and she wore a white shoulder-less Roman dress. It was thin and airy. It showed off her natural curves.
She was holding onto the horn of plenty (cornucopia) which is filled with gold coins. Although the horn's opening was tilted down from the horizontal axis, the overflowing pile of gold coins did not fall. These were coins made of magic and was a cosmetic effect.
She had teleported in with her right-hand maid. Fortuna passed the horn to her to hold and took off her blindfold which she rarely does in public.
Fortuna revealed glowing white eyes that were staring angrily at Azrael.
"AZRAEL! You dare kill a boy under my blessing!"
Most of the big shots among the Gods have been killed. The only ones remaining were minor gods, or those that had weak combat power.
Although Azrael wasn't a god, he was stronger than most of them. If all the remaining Gods fought him together, it would probably be a draw.
Knowing that Fortuna couldn't threaten him, he was cool as a cucumber.
"The overseer had determined the boy to be the most suitable for resolving this state of emergency, using the System's powerful magic of detection by no less. Are you not selfish keeping him all to yourself?" Azrael said calmly with a smug face.
"That may be so but you couldn't have told me before you mutilated him with that dreadful machine!?"
"Rude! Don't call her that! She has a soul!"
"Soul! Haha! That contraption is nothing more than an animal."
Before Azrael could reply, Fortuna took back her horn of plenty and emptied the gold coins. She was now holding the horn of poor.
Azrael paled and sweat beads came out of his pores like rain.
The horn of plenty was a blessing she could give to someone in need. The Goddess of Fortune was the manipulator of luck and abundance. She was as good at blessings as she was at curses.
If Azrael was hit by the horn of poor, he would become deficient. If his father was still alive, God wouldn't even piss on him for rain.
What could Azrael not have enough of?
Death. He might not come out of his vacation for several more years.
The Gods holding onto wine glasses all teleported away to not get caught in the crossfire. The others cleared the way, forming a straight path to Azrael.
No one wanted to be hit by her curse. It already bore the immortals with their life. Having bad luck for years wasn't something anyone wanted to deal with.
She charged and jumped towards him swinging her horn of poor like a Warhammer. When she landed, the horn passed through a white light in the shape of a cross which disappeared immediately after.
Azrael had returned to his heaven's realm where she could not enter.
"AZRAEL! You'll pay for this! You can't hide forever!"
