ADELLIA WALLS
It all went well in the end, after telling us that we would have to clean the academy for the whole next week, Director Gil sent us to our room.
My room door suddenly opened.
"Adellia?" A student was standing in front of the door carrying a bag on her shoulder and a tote bag in her hand.
"Hello, Seli," I greeted her.
Her perfect black hair that rested right above her shoulders and her penetrating black eyes that could swallow galaxies. Her perfect skin that looked so fragile yet so soft and the unerring amount of freckles around her nose. Cheeks the colour of pink roses and eyelashes longer than anyone's I've ever seen. And her out-of-this-world body caught my attention, a small waist hidden under a red ribbed top and curvy hips that fit so perfectly in her dark uniform.
"We're roommates?"
"It seems so, unless you entered the wrong room," I replied.
She chuckled as she put her belongings in the corner of the room. Each room is occupied by two students, it's a surprise that my roommate herself is the same person as the one who started the chaos back in the hall.
"But I need to tell you something," Seli said seriously.
"What is it?"
"I often have nightmares and sleep-talk. I hope you don't mind when I scream at night while sleeping." Both of us started laughing. It seems that school will be fun.
At noon the two of us made our way to the dining hall for lunch.
"By the way, where's your handsome lover?"
"He's not my lover!" I said a bit too loudly. "He said he had something to do..." I said disappointedly. I wanted to hear more of his voice.
There is only one dining hall for all four hundred students of the academy.
After I opened the door, I was welcomed by students, indistinguishable conversations, and the aroma of what the dining hall was serving today.
As both of us stepped in, the hall became quiet and I could feel the stares of the students as they studied us. Ignoring the glares and the occasional curious glances, we made our way into the line and got our food.
"You are quite popular. Do they know you?" Seli whispered softly in my ear.
I chuckled. "They're not looking at me. They're looking at you, Seli."
"At me?"
"Yes. You have officially become the most popular students since you started the chaos this morning." I laughed and pointed to an empty table for us to sit.
We were about to sit there, but two higher-level students beat us to it.
"Get out of here!" They shouted angrily. "This is not a place for new students."
I nodded. It's not hard to find an empty table, anyway. We found a different empty table and sat down face-to-face.
"So where are you from?" Seli asked as she started eating her food.
We continued to talk more about ourselves while finishing our lunch.
SELI FINLEY
During our lunch, the both of us could tell that people were gossiping about us or even looks being shot in our direction every now and then. However, none of them actually came up to us... until now.
"What a surprise!"
I turned to see four higher-level students standing at the end of our table.
"Brilliant! It seems she has a close connection with the head of the academy."
I was about to stand up when Adellia held my hand. Just leave it alone—her gaze seemed to say. The dining hall staff stood still, staring intently at our table.
"Our business isn't finished yet. You're lucky there's an officer watching. I'll teach you manners in a different place!" The leader walked away and the lackeys followed suit.
"CIH, what is their problem?" I growled angrily.
"They want to look more powerful, especially in front of new students. As long as they don't attack us physically, just ignore it," Adellia said casually. "Now, let's prepare for afternoon classes."
ADELLIA WALLS
"History and Old Notes." I read the name of the class. The class door was nearly automatically closed when me and Seli arrived. The class was already filled with new students, and damn our seat was exactly in front of the professor.
"My name is Professor Jar and I must say that it's great to meet you all. Welcome ladies and gents, and welcome Ms. Walls. It is a privilege to have you in my class." The professor said, his body was small but his voice was quite loud.
"Please guide me well." I said simply.
"I think today is a rather fine day to have a lecture. You are not going to get any younger so absorb as much knowledge as you can while your brains are still fresh! Take out your tablet!" His thin face wrinkles as he smiles.
Seli promptly takes out a thin tablet while eagerly writing the title of the class and today's date.
I just lean forward and rest my chin on my hand as I begin to listen.
Professor Jar tapped his hand on the table. Holographic screens started to appear around the classroom, displaying the subject.
"Welcome to Rigel Academy. Welcome to my class. You must know, 'History and old notes' is an important subject. The future is forged from the past. Today is a reflection of yesterday. We can learn a lot of things just by reading old notes. Mystery. Knowledge. Civilization. There a lot of explanation that history can give us. Our eyes may be ignorant, but history can be the greatest hint.
The Rigel Academy is one of the most important places that records the history of the Rigel Clan. There is only one place that can probably match it—The Capital Library. After the last great war, the kingdom committee decided to build this academy to teach the best generation from the whole country. Produces some of the wisest leader, the smartest scientist—"
The hologram screen continued to displayed photos of campus alumni. Their faces appeared in front of us. Famous scientist. Influential figures.
"The greatest warriors—"
The photos continued to changed, showing the fighters.
The students exclaimed when they saw Director Gil.
"Yes, I also saw her photo." Professor Jar stopped the presentation, closing up on Director Gil faces.
"Director Gil is one of the best fighters during the north rebellion one hundred and fifty years ago. Can anybody explain about the rebellion?"
All of the students went silenced.
"You at the back! Can you tell us about it?" Professor Jar pointed to one of the students in the back of the class.
"Eh, me?" the student who got pointed at looked confused.
"You haven't read the lesson in your hologram card, lady?" Professor Jar stared intently at her.
She shook. "Sorry, what lesson?"
"My god, you didn't even know about the materials?"
"Sorry." She said with her face looking down.
"Sorry is not going to solve the problem lady. All of the students here must read about the materials before they sat their ass in my class! This is not a cinema, where all you need to do is watch. This is the greatest academy in the entire kingdom! The place where you learn the most important history." Professor Jar looked disappointed. "Can anybody help this lady?"
I raised my hand and started explaining about the rebellion.
"Nice one, Ms. Walls. That is really an accurate explanation." Professor Jar looked happy, he tapped his hand to the table, continuing his explanation.
"There is also the best musician from Rigel Academy." The hologram screen showing all the popular musician.
"And also the greatest spy." this time no face appeared on the screen.
"Ah, I forget. Of course, the greatest spies will never be known by people, so no faces will show up there." Professor Jar joked.
The class was filled with laughs.
I rubbed my forehead softly, while looking down. I opened a file with my hologram card, showing a book with 18.000 pages about 'History and old notes'. Jeez, I have to read this thick book? I started to regret joining the academy.
The class ended with a few more minor questions from various classmates. As the giant bell tower rang, the professor wrapped up the discussion, and we prepared for our next class.
"I'll see you at dinner then?" Seli asked while she was packing up her bag.
"Sure. The person who gets there first saves the other a spot in line." I pat my friend on the back before leaving through the door.
Ten minutes later, I arrived at my next class and made my way to the corner of the room and sat down. I couldn't help but glance around every now and then, hoping to maybe spot Ingrid as more and more students started filling the room. While most of them were first year like me, there were some second years that decided to take this class later.
I sat idly, watching the students filling the class. Just then the bell rang. The professor in front waved her hand, locking the door to the class instantly. Locking four students outside because they were late.
"Don't you ever be late for my class! Three times, and you will repeat the semester!"
She tapped her hand on the table, hologram screen appeared in front of us.
"My name is Fit. You can call me Professor Fit or only Fit will do just fine. Before we start the first lesson for today, let's get something straight."
The students prepared their tablet, ready to type.
"Is it the clashing punch that changed the world? Is it the transparent shield that saved humanity? Disappearing technique? No. Math is the one who does that. This subject is the queen of science. Math is what makes our civilization more advanced every day. Not clas—"
"But professor!" One of the students that sit at the front raised his hand, cutting the explanation short. "When we fight, we use our clashing punch. We cannot punch them using trigonometri, can we?"
The whole class filled with laugh.
"You think so?" Professor Fit looked relaxed.
A few other students nodded, they agree with his opinion.
"You sure with your opinion?" Professor Fit asked while staring to the front seat.
They nodded once again
Splash! Professor Fit teleported to the student who raised his hand. Her body was floating. Her teleportation technique is so fast. And before we could blink again—Splash! Splash!—Professor Fit already brought the student to the front of the class. What a great teleportation technique!
"Do the clashing punch!" Professor Fit ordered the student,
The student scratched his head, didn't understand the instructions.
"Clashing Punch! Now!"
The student slowly put his stand, and then—Bum! He did the clashing punch. Not bad, quite strong for a new students.
"Lower your right leg three degree!" Professor Fit shouted while she pulled out a silver stick from under her robe. She touched the right leg of the student with her stick. "Slide your left foot half inches to the back! Raise your left hand two degree!" The stick quickly improved the student stance. "Now do the clashing punch again!"
The student looked at Professor Fit.
"The clashing punch! Now!"
The student punched his right hand to the front. BUM!
Wow! That's a stronger punch than before. Two times stronger.
"See! There is a huge gap between a stupid fighter and a fighter who knows mathematics. What's your name young man?"
"My name is Avius." The student answered nervously. He is starting to understand why he did the clashing punch.
"This young man, Avius, is an example. He thought that clashing punch was only about punching as hard as you can. He forgot that fixing his stance to a degree, using trigonometri, can make his punch 5 times more deadly. Is it the clashing punch that makes you kill your enemy? It is. But a fighter who learned mathematics can easily defeat a stupid fighter. Do you want to be a stupid fighter, Avius?"
"No, Professor!" Avius shook his head, his face was pale.
"Get back to your seat!"
Avius slowly made his way towards his seat. He tripped his foot on his way but quickly stood up.
"Professor Fit is so cool." A student next to murmured softly.
I nodded. This professor is kinda nice.
