Chapter 3 - Chapter 3.) the wedding

I stand in the middle of a grand dressing chamber. Two maids are dressing me in an astounding white ball gown, with mesh flower sleeves and lace trim adorning the dress. The top half of the dress is a tight corset that has tight hanging sleeves that loosen and fall to the ground. They are adorned with pearls and are actually quite heavy. The bottom half of the gown is loose and flows around my legs. The heels are the perfect height and are also covered in pearls. A pearl necklace hangs on my neck. A long flowing veil falls to the ground over my knee length hair and has a hairpiece laced with pearls. The maids put my hair up in a lovely braided bun to attach the veil. They stand back and look at their work.

"Oh my lady!" One of them gasps. "You look so beautiful!" I smile bright. Trying not to look nervous, or worse ungrateful. Instead of pondering what is about to happen I turn to the two young women "please call me Constance" I say with a smile.

"Oh no my lady I couldn't do th-"

"Yes you can." I say boldly "you are my maids and I wish for you to call me by my name."

The both nod "of course my la- Constance." One of them says with a smile.

"You really do look lovely" whispers the other.

I nod. "I hope it isn't too bold to wish I could've picked my own husband. Rather than being bought." I mutter.

The first maid comes in closer and whispers, "oh my lady, those other men were prince Arthur's brothers and believe me, you do not want to be with them, they each have three or four wives and several mistresses. King Arthur hasn't been married and he hasn't taken a mistress in a while. I know it's scary but it cold be worse my lady."

I smile ignoring that she called me my lady again. "What are your names?" I ask with a gentle smile.

"I am Lilian, and this is Diane." Says the first woman.

"Lovely!" I say to Lilian. She blushes and smiles. If I had to guess no one has ever asked her name before.

A knock comes on the door. It's a castle guard in a black uniform with gold trim, and the same white and gold handkerchief as George the chariot driver.

"It's time my lady." He says

I nod and make my way out the door, soon to be with my husband.
