"Whew" Alexia let out a sigh of relief after placing the last of the plates into the China cabinet.

"Are you serious Alex?" Max lifted an eyebrow in amusement when she turned to look at him.

"Your job was to wash the dishes and place them away. And you're tired." He tried holding back his laugh.

Alexia clenched her jaw and threw a deadly gaze towards her brother. She placed a hand on her hip.

"Oh really. You make it seem so easy that washing after nine people ain't nothing. All you are doing is sitting on your lazy arse and eating leftovers." She gave a tight-lip smile.

It had just been an hour and a half after the dinner party between the Alpha and Betas' family ended.

"Well the future Beta of the Lunar pack cannot be seen doing chores. I need to be taken serious unlike your lazy potato arse."

"Says the person who only stopped wetting his bed until he was fifteen." She gave him a pointed look.

Max's smile dropped and clenched his fist.

"I'm going to kill you for that." He said through his teeth.

Alexia opened her eyes in awareness of what she just said.

"Shit." She mumbled and started sprinting to the open glass door in the kitchen. It was the closest to escape through.

"I don't think so." Max said while going after his sister.

"Mom" Alexia screamed as she ran through the patio and onto the grass.

Max was right behind her as she shifted midair making him shift also.

It was a cool breezy night with a full moon. The kind of night that would make one just close their eyes and shut off the world. It was calming. Even the birds in the forest was calm.

Until two wolves flashed by causing a disturbance which had woken up the birds in shock and fleeing away.

Now in their wolf form, Alexia and Max raced into the forest. Max caught up to Alexia both looking at each other as a challenge.

The part of Max being embarrassed was almost forgotten on his part while they raced through the forest towards the turbulent stream full of rocks whereas pups they used to play.

Alexia was a full white wolf, whereas her brother Max's fur was hazel brown.

Both wolves stayed in the shallow end as they played in the water. Alexia pounced on her brother making him go underwater. But being the next Beta he was stronger than her, so he lifted himself from her grip.

Max used his paw to splash water on Alexia's face which annoyed her wolf.

Soon they both were trying to bite each other in a playful way. Rolling and splashing around in the water.

Max bit his sisters tail which caused her to yelp. This made Alexia go for his ear. She was about to attack him back.

"Grrrr..."

A growl made them stiff in awareness that they were not alone.

Both wolves turned to the source of the growl but soon after finding the source their eyelids opened wide with their tails in between their legs.

Looks like mother wolf had appeared and she did not look pleased but what she sees. She was in her gown with roller curls in her hair. Even though a green mask was applied onto her face the two wolves could still see the anger.

"Shift now." She handed a shirt and pants to both wolves which they grabbed with their sharp teeth and went behind the trees to change separately.

As they reappeared from behind the trees, Alexia and Max stared at each other. Their heart was pounding.

They stood side by side as their furious mother approached them.

Both their heads were hung, so they did not know what to expect.

"Owwww mom" both the siblings screeched as their mother twisted their ear.

"You idiots. You gave me a bloody fright. Especially you Alexia when you screamed. And you know better Maximus." Max flinched at his full name.

"Mom it's her fault. She brought up me wetting the bed. Just because her lazy arse could not come up with a better come back."

"That's not fair mom, he-"

Their mother raised a hand silencing Alexia

"Seriously for something so silly like that you'll have to cause a scene."

"And you Maximus you know better than to be here at night. You know about the war going on and you'll come close to the borders. I expected you to be on high alert after dinner tonight and what Alpha Xander said."

Being the future Beta Max knew he was wrong especially since he could have put his sisters life in danger.

"And you Alexia, you need to grow up from this childish act of yours. You are nineteen. Start taking life seriously especially when things are happening around you. Something could have happened to you or you could have been taken. You both need to start analyzing situations before you act because if something like this happens again can put someone in a serious condition."

Guilt free? Nope. They were both ashamed of what they had done even though it was just for fun.

What their mother was saying put even more guilt on their part. With a war going on over the borders, they had to stay safe as they could be under attack anytime.

"Sorry mom." Again the siblings said in unison.

"Sorry won't cut it. Your father is waiting for you Maximus and you Alexia. Both of you head back home now. And watch your surroundings."

As Alexia and Max began walking away. Their mother turned towards the stream looking beyond the forest. She knew it was about time that soon their pack would be under attack. And Alexia was not strong enough to fight.

"Oh moon goddess please keep Alexia safe during this war."

Heading back to the two-story house. Alexia and Max walked alongside each other. Few words were spoken along the way.

They knew what was ahead of them. An even worst guilt soon to come.

On the patio stood the Beta, their father and right now their hell.

His arms were folded while awaiting Max and Alexia.

Beta Jax was still handsome for his age forty-eight. He had black hair with brown eyes. A figure that could scare even a child. The rage surrounded his aura.

Walking up the steps and bowing their heads as they stood in front of their father.

"Dad-"

Again Alexia was silenced as her father raised his palm to stop her from talking.

"I am just disappointed in you both. What the hell you were thinking? Infact you weren't thinking at all because if you were then you would have known the danger of going out there during night."

He looked at Alexia with a bit of softness and anger. But stood straight ready to give his command.

"Alexia from tomorrow you will awaken at 6am and report to the training field with your brother. You will train three times a day. One morning, midday and then evening. I expect you to be on time. And remember you are not in high school any more so behave as an adult."

Alexia was shocked by her fathers command. She always trained once in the evening with the rest of the pack and her friends. She had just graduated from high school a month ago and wanted to travel. But with all that's going on, she had to put a stop in her plans. She did not want to train three times, but had to comply with the command of the Beta.

"Yes dad."

"Go to your room and think about the wrongs you've done. Maximus go to my office and wait for me. I have to talk to your mother."

Both siblings went into the house. Alexia taking a right towards the staircase and Max his left towards his dad's office.

Beta Jax and female Beta Jade had fear in their eyes for what was to come.

Jade went straight into her mates' arms. "I'm scared Jax. The fear is growing more each hour. Our kids. I don't want anything to happen to them."

"My love we all have fear for this war. But we have no choice but to fight for our pack. Especially our son. His twenty-two and soon going to take my place. He has to fight besides the future Alpha. If it means losing our lives protecting you and Alexia then we would proudly do it."

"But I can't lose you. I will fight also. I will always be fighting by your side. It was a promise we made to each other when we met."

"Jade that was a promise we made before Alexia was born. Before we learned how special she is. We need to keep her safe and in we, means you."

Jax raised her chin to look him in the eyes. The green mask on her face made him smile of how beautiful she was and did not need such thing. He wiped a stray tear.

"My love this is our fate that was written by the goddess herself. This is what we have to do to keep her from her fate. She is our pup, and we will protect what's ours with all we have." Jade just nodded her head having no words to say but to agree.

"I love you Jade. We will always be together even after death."

"I love you Jax." Jade sobbed out.

Jax placed a hand behind her head and another around her waist. He brought her into a kiss making the tingles from the kiss calm them both down.

Their mouths moved in a rhythm as they were in sink to each other. A mate that is perfect for you. Created to be yours in every way because that is the only one who can satisfy your soul to feel a whole with love and happiness in the darkest of days.

Jade pulled away due to the loss of air.

"Come on lets go inside. Get some sleep while I talk to Max."

They walked inside. Jade going in first then Jax last locking the glass door and putting the alarm on.

"Don't be too hard on him Jax. Remember he is also our pup and needs our love no matter how strong he has to be."

Jax only nodded and kissed his mate on her forehead before going their separate ways.
