Chapter 13 - Chapter 12: The Past Comes Back to Haunt

The occasional barking and meow of stray cats and dogs pierced the night's quietness looking up he watches as the stars twinkled in the sky.

They were finally done with practice and Alex was burned out. Hisschool'sscles hurt and school's shower wasn't working so they'll have to go home and take a shower, make will have to put an air freshener in the car tomorrow.

His back leaning against the jeep with Luca waiting on Jake to finish his conversation with the captain so they could go home the bud were busy around there looking for food and even though it was late they still have to get up early tomorrow for practice again.

Alex was looking out in space we he saw a familiar car pulling into the parking lot of the school his eyes narrowed the closer the vehicle came towards them he realizes that it was Jerry.

Jerry stopped right in front of Alex and Luca rolling his window down he was wearing a black T-shirt his hand rested on the window showing off his tattoos he gave Luca he gave a half-smile before turning to Alex ready to greet him before a loud ass voice interrupted him.

"Are you guys ready to go?" Jake shouted across the parking lot while jogging towards them, Jerry could feel a headache coming just hearing the sound of his voice, when Jake finally arrived at the jeep his arms folded resting his shoulder on the car he gave a lopsided grin " Hi Jerry, how's it going oldy that pain back started settling in yet?"

Jerry's smile faded before a muscle in his jaw twitched as he stated at Jake, he was only 25 but Jake and Alex act as if he was in his 50's he is a young adult sure he had ways that may come off old person but he is an attractive dude.

Jerry hooked his arm around Alex's neck and pulled him closer so he would speak to him more privately "your dad called me today, it's you to come over by his house to meet the family some serious shit is happening over there I think you should go" he lowered his voice as he spoke as his eyes scanned the surrounding.

When Jerry spoke to his father that night he sounded so serious about the things that are happening in the house and that there are people in the family who he doesn't know if he can trust to make sure his son will be alive when he is gone.

After what he and Alex's mother went through he doesn't want that life for any of his kids the despair and hardship they had to go through trying to provide for the family in and out of jail, being on the run while she was pregnant to get away from these people only for there past to come back and hunt their kids.

"What's going on?" Alex could feel the small tension that is in the air Jerry isn't telling him everything he needs to know, the fact that after all these his father wants to communicate with him after his mom's death is so weird to him and honestly he wants nothing to do with that 'man and his family' the only person he talks to over there is his little brother.

Everything that he experienced with his mom growing up and his dad not being there felt a bitter taste in his mouth whenever he is brought up and it's not because his dad wasn't there, she didn't want him to grow up without a father but what broke his heart was the pain and tears from his mother.

He felt so useless in those times when his mom lock herself in her room because she didn't want him to see that side of her, he knew the reason why his dad couldn't come around them and if he did there was gonna be a big ass bounty on their head.

"Just give him a call and when you're done call me okay?" Jerry wasn't sure if there anyone was hiding somewhere watching them and he didn't want to take the chance so he smiles and laughs as if they were having a casual conversation.

Surveying the area again he saw two figures walking along the parking lot of the school hand in hand as the silhouette figure got closer to the street light he recognizes the school soccer shirt logo on the sleeve of the shirt but for some reason the girl that he is walking with feels as if they have met or seen each other before.

As they continue to walk he saw that the girl slowed down her pace to be slightly behind the guy she turned her head in their direction making eye contact with Jerry.

Even with how far away he was from her, he could still feel the ill intend she had towards him his eyes narrowed on her figures disappearing around the corner of the school's building before signaling for everyone to get in their car.

Jake and Luca drove together and Alex drove with Jerry on their way they stop at the Gas station while waiting on Jake to fill up his gas tank Alex went in the store for a snack when he got back Jake was struggling to get his car startup for them to get back on the road.

Alex stood to the side and watching Jake's historical moment of trying to start up his car chuckling when Jake got frustrated and start hitting the car " You old son of a..." *hoooonk*

Jake accidentally hit the hook while cursing "You better hurry up, it's about to rain."

"How do you know?" Jake mumbled turning his key again to start up the engine that's when thunder sounded "Nevermind." The rain began to fall lightly at first, but then it steadily became faster and harder.

They all packed up into Jerry's Jeep as the rain continues to pour down heavy onto the window, Jerry turned his head towards Jake shouting over the rain "Do you want me to call a tow truck?"

After contacting a tow truck driver and giving him the area where the car was located Jerry pulled back onto the road.
