Six months pass and everything is back to normal. Only, Sonic is living with Bernadette, Cathleen in her underwater home and Shadow, Sticks and Sapphire are in their home, with Sticks teasing Shadow.
"So, you two datin' yet?" Sticks asks, teasing
"Don't know what you're talking about." Shadow responds, blushing
"Really? I heard you two having sex in one of Cathleen's bedrooms and so did Cathleen." Sapphire responds
"Alright, alright. We started dating long before that. Anything else?"

As if on cue, there's a knock at the front door. Sapphire answers, to notice the hedgie in question waiting at the door.
"Hi, there. I'm Amy Rose, can I come in?" Amy greets, asking
"Sure, come on in. Are you Sticks' classmate?" Sapphire responds, asking
"Yep, and rather close friend. Is Sticks here?"
"As luck would have it, yes. She's in the lounge, teasing her brother about Sonic."
"Oh, Shadow and Sonic are dating? I worked them out from day one, in primary school."
"You went to the same school?"
"Yes, I sure did. I was known as 'the library geek', reading books, not taking much notice of anything else."
"Little did they know, you noticed Shadow and Sonic getting on and becoming friends."
"Yes, that's right. I also noticed Sticks; she looked nice, a bit crazy, but all-around cute. I've liked her from day one."
"Why haven't you told her yet?"
"I was small, and it would've seemed weird to the other kids. Anyway, I'll be in the lounge."
"Okay, Amy. It's nice meeting you."
"Same to you, miss."
Amy goes into the lounge and notices Sticks, blushing as she enters. Sticks looks up and notices Amy, getting nervous. Shadow notices.
"Just go and talk to Amy, it's obvious she likes you as well." Shadow encourages
"Wait, did you listen to their conversation?" Sticks asks
"No, but it's so obvious that she likes you too."
Nervously, Sticks gets up and approaches Amy.
"Oh, hi Sticks… how are you?" Amy greets, asking
"I'm good, thanks. You look nice, by the way." Sticks responds, blushing
"Thanks, Sticks; you look quite phenomenal yourself."
Sticks quickly gets nervous, scratching the back of her head and becoming speechless. Amy then kisses Sticks' cheek.
"Sticks, I've liked you since we were five and not stopped since."
Sticks blushes madly then...
"Well, unexpected… I don't know, maybe---"
Amy then kisses Sticks on the lips, taking her by surprise. After a while, the two ladies part for air.
"Do you wanna stay as friends for now, and see where it leads?" Amy asks
"Erm…yeah, I'm willin' Ames." Sticks answers
Amy and Sticks hug, having admitted their feelings nine years later. There's soon another knock at the front door. Sapphire answers to find Sonic at the door.
"Hi, Sapphire. Is Shadow in?" Sonic greets, asking
Shadow then races to the door, to blush at Sonic's new appearance.
"Wow, you look phenomenal. Erm… I'm…" Shadow compliments, getting nervous
"Thanks, babe. You look great yourself, Shadow."
"Why are you here? Not to be rude or anything."
"It's fine, Shadow. Mom's allowed me out for a few hours, and I wanted to see you."
"You'd better come in then, make yourself at home Sonic." Sapphire says
Sonic comes in as the door is shut behind him. Shadow then takes Sonic into his arms and passionately kisses him.
"I love your outfit, by the way." Sonic compliments
"Thanks, Sonikku. I didn't expect you to come over."
"That's what a boyfriend's for, Shadow-kun."
Sonic then twists his fingers in Shadow's chest fur, earning a purr.
"I love you, Shads."
"I love you too, Blue."
Shadow and Sonic soon embrace, enjoying each other's warmth.
"By the way boys, this is a no sex household." Sapphire teases, embarrassing the pair
"Mom!" Shadow shouts

Sonic starts softly chuckling, to cause a chain reaction of laughs from everyone else in the house. After a while, everyone stops laughing and calms themselves down; Shadow and Sonic go upstairs to Shadow's bedroom, closing the door behind them. "So, that means you and Sapphire can still date. Given how well you get on and how close you both are, I think she might say yes."
"I'm not asking yet though. It'll make it too obvious."
"I'm not saying ask today, I'm saying ask when you feel ready."
"Anyway, aside from dating advice, I need to get to Sapphire."
Bernadette goes to Sapphire's bedroom, to notice her looking flirty and seductive. This causes Bernadette to blush; Sapphire quickly notices her blushing.

Morning arrives and Sonic wakes up, confused and surprised. He notices Shadow starting to stir and awaken.
"Morning, babe." Shadow greets
"Good morning, Shads." Sonic greets
"Are you alright?"
"I'm in your bed. Wait, we didn't have sex, did we?"
"No, we didn't babe. You were asleep and I didn't wanna wake you. So, I Chaos Controlled us both to bed and went to sleep soon after."
Sonic then remembers; Bernadette comes home this morning.

"Mom, are you alright?" Shadow asks
"Just very tired from last night; I didn't sleep much..." Sapphire answers, bumping into the doorframe
Sticks then comes down and races to Sapphire's aid.
"Mom, you need sleep." Sticks informs
"I know honey, but I can't sleep..."
"Shads, Bernadette's here in an hour. Help Sonic find his glasses, I tell ya."
"Wait, my mom's coming?" Sonic asks
"Yeah, Bernadette told me last night." Sapphire answers, partially falling asleep
"Mother, get some sleep; I'll take care of everything else." Shadow offers
"Oh, thank you sweetie, you're such a... nice one."
"C'mon, mom. Let's get you to bed. Shadow, don't mess this up."
"I've no room to."
Sticks takes Sapphire upstairs as Shadow helps Sonic find his glasses; to find them on the lounge floor, broken. Using magic, he fixes the frame and replaces the lenses.
"Babe, sit on the couch." Shadow instructs
Sonic sits on the couch as Shadow puts his glasses on him.
"Now, open your eyes."
Sonic opens his eyes, now able to see.
"Thank you so much, Shadsie." Sonic says
"You're welcome, Blue."
"Where were they?"
"They were on the lounge floor broken. So, I fixed the frame and replaced the lenses."
Sonic then gets up and hugs Shadow, as the front door knocks. Shadow answers, to see Bernadette.
"Hello, Shadow. Can I come in?" Bernadette greets, asking
"Hi, Bernadette. Sure, come on in." Shadow responds
"Thank you, where's Sapphire?"
"Mother went back to bed; she didn't sleep much last night."
"I'll leave Sapphire alone then. How was Sonic last night?"
"I was fine, mother." Sonic responds
"You didn't do it, did you?"
"No, we didn't. Sonic over there fell asleep on my shoulder, in the lounge." Shadow responds, making Sonic blush
"Yeah, I didn't expect to do that."
"Besides that, boys, where were you before me and Amy left?"
"We were out for a walk, because you four were triggering Sonic's desires during your little sex sessions." Shadow answers

Sonic then kisses Shadow's cheek, making him blush.
"See you later, Shadsie. Thanks for last night." Sonic responds

Bernadette and Sonic leave for home as Shadow sits down in the lounge, listening to music. Soon after, Sticks enters the room.
"Hey, Shads." Sticks greets
"Hey, Sticks. How's mom?" Shadow responds, asking
"Still asleep, for now. I wouldn't keep those in too long."
Concerned, Shadow takes his earphones out.
"What's going on, Sticks?"
"Mom had plans to invite Rouge, Silver and Harriot over today. So, she won't be in bed for long."
"When are they arriving?"
"In two hours."
Knowing the first room that Sapphire's friends will go into first, Shadow starts getting flustered.
"Sticks, get the air fresher and spray in the room you were with Amy in."
"Why there?"
"That's the first room they're gonna go in; I don't think they'd wanna be smelling your sex sesh from yesterday."

Shadow then races to tidy the said room up, putting every ornament back where they belong as Sticks enters with the air freshener and sprays it, quite excessively.

After around an hour and a half, Sapphire goes downstairs and notices Shadow and Sticks racing around.
"Hello, guys. What's going on?" Sapphire greets, asking
"Your friends are coming over." Shadow answers
"Yes, just so you know, they're thirty minutes away. I'll help you both out."
Soon, the family is racing around cleaning up every available space that needs it. Thirty minutes later, there's a knock at the front door and Sapphire answers, to see Rouge, Silver and Harriot waiting.
"Hey, guys. It's great to see you, come on in." Sapphire greets
"Are you alright, Sapphire? You sound exhausted." Harriot asks
"Yeah, I've just been helping Shadow and Sticks clean up."
"Come to think of them, where are they?" Rouge asks
Soon, everyone looks around. They find Shadow and Sticks asleep, in separate places in the lounge.
"How old are they both?" Silver asks
"They're both fourteen."
"I've heard Shadow's got a boyfriend. True?" Harriot whispers
"Yes, that's true. With mating season approaching, I don't know how they'll cope being apart. I don't want it to affect their relationship." Sapphire whispers back, lowering her ears
"Anyway, how did you know?" Rouge whispers to Harriot
"They all go to Emerald High. Rumours and truths get outta there like wildfire."
Sapphire looks at Shadow and Sticks, remembering something else.
"I'm also worried about Sticks and Amy." Sapphire admits
"Why those two ladies?" Silver asks, whispering
"It won't be long before they start dating. If they start during mating season, all hell's gonna break loose and somehow, I think I'm gonna get blamed for it."
"By who? Shadow and Sticks wouldn't do something like that to you."
"It's individuals they know. Sonic has been bullied a lot because he's a herm."
"Wait, Shadow's boyfriend is being bullied?!" Rouge asks
"Rouge!" Harriot warns
"Anyway, yes. Individuals have been calling Sonic a slut and other nasty names; Shadow has been doing everything in his power to protect him." Sapphire responds, whispering
"That's true love there, hun." Rouge responds
"How would you know what love is? You've broken up with that Lewis dude more times than Scourge can count." Silver asks, pointing out
"Since when did Scourge know about Lewis?" Harriot asks
"You three, be quiet!" Sapphire instructs
Shadow and Sticks begin to awaken as the quad shut up. As for Sonic, he's still learning how to use his phone. Bernadette notices his confusion and goes to his aid.
"Are you okay, honey?" Bernadette asks
"I still can't work this phone out. Could I have some help?" Sonic responds
"Sure, let's start with the basics."
Bernadette first shows Sonic how to make a phone call, hearing her phone vibrate in her pocket. Realising that he's sent a text and not called Bernadette, Sonic notes that he still has quite a fair bit of practice to do.
"I think I'll take a break now. Thanks, mom." Sonic informs
"You're welcome, honey."
Sonic goes upstairs and does some schoolwork. At Shadow's house, Rouge, Sapphire, Silver and Harriot are in silence as Shadow is the first to awaken and notice them.
"What are you four doing here?" Shadow asks, unimpressed and tired
"Nothing much, just standing here." The quad say in unison, flustered
"Really? Look, Sticks is still asleep, and I don't think she'll appreciate being woken up."
"And we nearly woke her up." Sapphire adds on
"Wait, what?!"
"We were talking, Silver and Harriot got a bit too loud."
"Excuse us?!" Harriot and Silver respond in unison
"Will you just shut up? Listen, 'cos I'll only say this once, Sticks wasn't all that pleased when she went to sleep. She misses Amy and is trying to hide it." Shadow responds over the quad
Shadow then pushes past the quad and heads out, clearing his head. Sapphire notices, lowering her ears.
"I think we've pissed Shadow off." Silver says
"No, really? That's why he stormed out just now." Rouge responds, smacking Silver's head
As for Shadow, he Chaos Controls to a secret location in the woods, slides down a tree and starts crying. As for Sonic, he's at home as he finishes his schoolwork and gets to a writing project. Then, Bernadette comes in.
"Sonic, do you want to go out to the woods?" Bernadette asks
"Sure, why not mom?" Sonic responds
Bernadette and Sonic head out to a quiet spot in the woods, to hear gentle crying. The mother-son duo follow the sound to notice Shadow, upset with his ears lowered. Sonic approaches, unintentionally breaking a twig en route, spooking Shadow.
"Who's there?!" Shadow asks, holding a Chaos Spear
"Shadow, it's me; don't throw it!" Sonic informs
Shadow then makes the Chaos Spear disappear, turning his head away. Sonic then approaches and hugs him, feeling Shadow's tears land on his quills.
"Are you okay, babe?" Sonic asks
"Sticks misses Amy; I don't like seeing my sister upset." Shadow answers
"Sticks is your sister?"
"We've had that bond since we were two years old. With mating season coming up, I don't know how they'll get to see each other."
"As her friend, and your boyfriend, I'll do everything to try and cheer Sticks up. So, please don't cry, I don't like seeing you crying."
Shadow reaches silence and cries harder, then...
"Sonic, I'll never stop loving you; not for a second..." Shadow informs
"I know, babe. I won't stop loving you either; you've always been good to me. I'll always appreciate that." Sonic responds, rubbing Shadow's back
Bernadette joins in the hug, remembering what Sonic didn't receive when he was growing up; love and respect. Then...

"Mother, why are others after me?!" Sonic asks, stressed
"Bernadette, what's going on?" Shadow asks, becoming concerned
"Everyone's wanted to grasp Sonic since he was born. Now that he's almost reached sexual maturity, they want him even more." Bernadette answers, lowering her ears
"Mom, I don't wanna be a science experiment; I wanna live, like everyone else!" Sonic responds, terrified
"I know you do, sweetie. But I don't know what to do..."

"Do tell, Shadow." Bernadette responds
"This wasn't happening when our final year started, when the bullying got really bad. Then, this comes up; suddenly may I add. It all ties together."
Then, the front door knocks. Bernadette gets up and answers, to find Scourge at the door.
"Scourge, what are you doing here?" Bernadette asks
"Bernadette, could you please let me in? I know why this is all happenin'." Scourge responds
"Come in then, and you'd better explain why this is happening."
Scourge enters, noticing Shadow comforting Sonic and the said hedgehog panicking.
"So, explain Scourge." Bernadette instructs, bluntly
"As Shadow may have already told you, Sonic's gettin' bullied at school. But, there's this one student who's connected with all the scientists and herm capturers; yep they're a thing.
