Just Friday afternoon in Vancouver after school, not doing much just laying in the couch watching The Fresh Prince with my roommate and former boyfriend Nicolas. I know it's weird and you're wondering what the hell am I living with my ex; well we were roommates before we started dating and we actually get along really well even though we used to date so we thought it wasn't a bad idea to stay as roommates and it isn't, so yeah.
I did as usual on a Friday night, I took a shower, got ready and went out to a pub with some friends.
I arrived at our usual hangout place and I was the last one to show up. Everyone had a drink in their hands and Levi my cousin had one for me too, vodka with a little sprite and a tint of boost just to give it a light blue colour. I thanked my cousin with a hug and started drinking and partying with the whole gang, but everything good has to come to an end and for my luck it has to end sooner than later because tomorrow I have to go to an event at the Fairmont Hotel for a homework. I said goodby to everyone and walked home alone. When I arrived to my apartment I noticed Nick had a girl home so I rushed to my room as quiet as possible and showered for the third time in the day because I didn't want to go to bed smelling like alcohol and cigarettes.
I woke up at 8:00 am and showered to go to work. I work at a fancy restaurant in downtown Vancouver because the tips are really good and the clients are so very nice. I took the subway to downtown and arrived at my work at 8:30 am, the manager was already there and he greeted me.
"Good morning, Rory." He said giving me a nod.
"Hi, Daniel." I said as I walked to my locker to leave my phone and put on my uniform. "Do we have any special reservations this morning?" I asked walking to the kitchen.
"Yes, we have Mr. Harding, reservation for five and our usual couple Mr. and Mrs. Gilardi." He said checking the reservations book. "They both asked for you to be their waitress, so don't mess it up." He looked at me.
"Me? Mess things up? Never!" I laughed and went for a notepad and a pen to write down the orders.
Mr. Harding was the first to arrive, he looked very handsome. My co-worker, Eva greeted him with a smile and led him to his table. I approached him and said good morning to the twenty-five year old.
"Mr. Harding, what can I get you to drink?" I took out my notepad and pen from my front pocket and he chuckled.
"Come on, Rory we've talked about this, please call me Logan." He showed me a big smile, I would definitely fall for him in seconds.
"Sorry, I'll keep that in mind, so, drink?"
"Yeah, I'll have some coffee and to start maybe a croissant." I wrote it down and nodded at the blonde man. "Thank you." He put the menu down.
"Al right, I'll be right back." I left his side and went to the kitchen and grabbed a croissant and the kettle with coffee., normally I wouldn't go in the kitchen but Logan is our only client at the moment. I walked again to Logan's table and poured some coffee in his cup and put the croissant in front of him. As I did my job Eva grabbed my waist and moved me to the side indicating me that Logan's company had arrived. "Good morning, my name is Rory and I'll be in charge of you today, what can I get you to start?" I asked once again taking out my notepad and pen. Everyone ordered and went back to the back but this time I didn't walked in the kitchen, I just put my order on the counter and let the cooks do their jobs.
It was a slow morning, Logan and his companions stayed for about two hours, Mr. and Mrs. Gilardi had a quick breakfast, we had a family of four join us as well and had another group of businessmen. The tips were great, even though it was a slow day, that's what happens when you work at a fancy restaurant and every client loves you, not to be bragging or anything but that's the true, it's hard to hate me.
I clocked out of the restaurant and changed in the bathroom as always, brushed my teeth and freshen up my makeup.
After I finished the clock marked 12:30 pm, that meant I had about thirty minutes to cross the street and go to the Fairmont to this event I was assigned to cover for my Fashion Survey course. I arrived to the hotel and asked where the event was taking place, the staff pointed out the direction which was very easy and before going in the room I decided it was a fabulous idea to go the restroom, of course after a long line and my body asking for more water I regretted that decision, because I was late to the event. I put my badge the school gave me and as it is I was the last one to go inside making a whole lot of noise to get on the first row.
"Sorry, sorry." I muttered to the presenters as I sat down. I took out my airpods a pen and a notebook to start sketching the outfits all the girls were wearing and also what the presenters who were mostly boys were wearing too. I kinda know who they are, I've seen their videos on YouTube and I think I follow them but I don't know anything about them I just think they're kinda cute.
I kept writing and sketching almost everything I saw, from clothing to accessories, to hair colour, everything is elementary for my project. I didn't realise that the event was almost over until I looked up and only a couple of girls were in line to take a picture with the boys. I decided to stay a little longer to finish up my sketches.
I saw a silhouette walk towards me and then he sat down besides me. "Hey, what are you doing?" He asked making me take one AirPod from my ear and when I looked over at him I knew who he was, he didn't need to introduce himself, though I don't think he had any intention to do so because everyone was here for him except me, but he didn't know that.
"Hi, just homework." I smiled directing my eyes to my work.
"Yeah, I noticed , what are you listening to?" He grabbed my AirPod and put it in his right ear to hear JBalvin blasting. "Good music." I nodded. "Do you want to come and meet everybody?"
"Yeah sure, why not?." I said putting everything in my bag Logan have to me as a birthday present.
He helped me up and without taking his hand away from mine he started to introduce me to his friends. "Guys, this is, um..." he looked at me realising he never asked for my name.
"Rory." I smiled and waved at everyone.
"Rory, this Nate, Tayler, Alexa, Kate, Alex, my brother Oliver and me, Tom." He pointed at everyone including himself.
"Nice to meet you, guys." I smiled and waved.
"So, do you want a picture?" Tayler asked.
"Oh no, but thanks for the offer." I smiled and checked the hour on my watch it was perfect timing to go for lunch. "I should get going." I pointed at the exit as I scrunched my nose.
"Why? You were barely here!" Alexa said. "I mean I saw you with your airpods writing on your book you didn't even notice this whole thing was over until Tom got you out of your world." I chucked. "What do you even have to do on a Saturday at 3:00 pm?"
"Well I was going for my lunch and then walk on the beach for a little while and then go back to my apartment, chill for a bit and then go to a party." I told them my plans for the day.
"Wow, you are a busy girl." Kate said and I nodded.
"But if you want you are more than welcome to tag along." I smiled and Tom, Oliver and Nate looked at each other.
