Crash
When the garage door is closed again and the vehicles are quiet, Merv circles around to where we're walking out of the little space behind the stairs. I've got Kelly's hand and I'm not letting go. But Merv's go that look on his face that hate. It means he's going to make me do something I don't want to.
"I've been talking to Charlie, who did the assess on Kelly's place, Crash. It's not looking good."
"I don't care," I say and hold his eyes. "They can't anticipate. I know it will be riskier tomorrow, but for today… I don't care."
Merv shakes his head. "We've got five circled neighbors, parking roadside, and high visibility—"
"Merv, I get it. But I don't care."
Kelly squeezes my arm. "Is it really bad, Merv? I mean, are we going to have to move?"
I give Merv the glare. He better not freak her out.
