As Crash slips into the house, I'm on my feet, calling after him. "Hey! If this is about me—" but the door slides closed behind him with a thunk.
I don't know if he didn't hear me, or if he didn't want to. Then, Tommy catches my wrist. I must look like I'm thinking about opening the door, because when I turn to look at him he gives a little shake of his head.
Through the glass I can see Crash stalking from the slider, stomping towards Amber, who stands deeper into the room on the other side looking like a bemused mother. She eyes the door that he slammed and says something I can't catch. His shoulders crawl towards his ears as he flaps a hand at her and motions her into the living area. She gives him a flat look, but turns and leads him around the corner into the room where I can't see them anymore without actually walking up to the glass and very obviously being nosey. I'm tempted to do it anyway. That exchange made me uneasy and I don't know why.
