Even with his suit being air tight and heated Haigan still felt the sudden drop in temperature as he stepped onto the surface of Mars, he reached above his head and flicked on his Helmet Cam, he saw the small play button appear in the bottom left of his helmets Visor. He took in a breath and looked at the reddish orange coloured dust below, he was one of the few people to ever be on this planet, or at least one of the few alive.
But something caught his attention as he looked round the hilly surface, a large chunk of Metal imbedded in the surface, it might have been a chunk of an old Rocket or something but it was too big to be a part of any rocket.
'It might be a part of the Saxton? It did crash right..' his thoughts were cut short by a loud beep in his helmet, then came the Sargents Voice.
"Everyone, welcome to the Saxton Crash site, we're here to find out what the hell happened." Her grim voice was rather staticky as she spoke.
"Wait.. The Saxton? I thought it hit the surface and imploded or something." Private Alvea asked as he looked up at the sky a few feet away from Haigan.
"Well it didn't somehow, it's main wreckage is beyond that hill to our left." The whole team looked to the far left to see a large hill that had small chunks of metal sticking out of its slope.
The team climbed the slope and saw the main wreckage, the engines were stick out of a large mound at a slight angle, it's large bowl like engine caps were smash and weathered showing its metal framing. The ship seemed to have made a large valley in the ground as it crashed or at least Haigan thought this as the Valley floor was covered in metal debris. Haigan saw the Sargent start to slide down the slope, he followed.
The team stepped onto the harder stone like ground as they followed the Sargent past a large Airlock looking chunk of ship, it's edges looked as if it was ripped off the ship as it crashed, then they saw the body. The body was half imbedded in the layers of dust, it wore a EVA suit with a helmet, the suit itself was bulky with a large pack strapped to its back it had a large dome glass helmet that had cracked and shattered, the face of the unlucky person in the suit was yellow with sunken skin that barley covered the skull.
The body was on its back with a large hole in its chest around the left shoulder, as the team looked at the corpse there was a creepy silence that was thankfully broken by the Sargents grim voice,
"We will burry the dead after we find the ships black box in the Saxtons Data Centre. Now let's go." Her voice had a tint of sadness as she spoke but it still had her trademark grimness.
"Yes Ma'am..." the team said in unison.

An hundred years ago.
The blaring sirens were all that Kile heard as the heavy pipe lifted off of his chest, he coughed as it lifted, and as the coughing stopped he took in a short gasp of breath as he looked around the life pod. It's wide floor had about four feet of space between the the rows of seats, his seat sat at the cockpit at the front of the tube like shape of the pod, he was the only one in the pod when he ejected from the ship. How many hours had it been? He barely remembered how he got in the pod and escaped that hell in one piece all he knew that he was one of the lucky ones...
