Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

We're still here in this dark forest, sitting on the ground, staring on nothingness. We've been like this for hours and I don't really know what to do. No one's talking, all you can hear is the sound of the strong wind that's hitting on our bodies. I looked up to the sky, stars are not shining.

It will rain...

"Let's go home... I just want to go home." David said.

"Then what? What will I say to Anika and Kim's parents? That their daughter died because they did not gave an honest answer to the board game's questions?" I said.

"No one will believe us if we tell that." Clara said.

"What should we do then, huh? Since you're the one who suggested to play that stupid game, you should be the one solving this problem you made!" David said. "Oh! What if you are the one who's behind all of this mess?"

I looked at Clara's face, she stared at David blankly, not responding on his question. She stood up. "Let's solve this problem together. Let's go back first." She said, turning her back on us.

"Not answering my question made me think that you really are behind all of this." David said.

Clara stopped from walking and faced David. "Maya owned that board game. She made that game."

"So, what?" David said.

So, It was her... She's the one doing all of this...

"She's angry, you guys made her soul trapped in the dark, full of pain and resentment towards all of you." She said.

The past was all coming back....

"I am aware of what I did to her. But, Calvin? What did you do to Maya?" David asked.

"I- I don't remember that I did such thing on her. We've been good friends since then." I said, avoiding their gaze.

"Really?" Clara said.

"Really," I said. "Let's head back and sort things out."

"There must be something that can stop this curse." I said while searching for something useful on the box of the board game.

We are now back in the rest house. Clara's packing her things in her room while David and I are here in the lounge searching for a way on how to stop the curse.

"There's really nothing written in here." David said. "Wait... Do we really need to look for a way to stop the curse? Does the curse will continue even if we don't play and press the button of truth?" He asked.

"Kim did press the button of truth..." I said. "After that, hours had passed and yet we're still alive."

"So it means, you need to play and press the button first and only after that the curse will begin?" David asked.

"That's what I've observed." I said.

Clara came out from her room, carrying her bag. "Then let's try it out." Clara said.

"Are you out of your mind? You could die!" I said.

"I know. But Maya made this and I am her friend. I don't think Maya would kill her only friend." She said.

"Do it. This was all your fault so, I don't really care if you really die." David said bitterly. "You have to lie. Don't give an honest question." He added.

She opened the board game and pressed the button of truth. "'Do you ever want to kill someone?' Wow that's unexpected." She said wearing her wide grin.

"You're enjoying this, huh?" David said.

"Of course, I could die any moment after this. Who will not enjoy that?" Clara said. She picked up one Master Card. " "Who'. I'll make this quick. No, I don't want to kill someone, I am pure hearted so why would I kill someone? Ha-ha!" She said. "As for the follow up question, I don't think of someone I wanted to kill." She continued.

"I said do not give an honest answer! Are you insane?" David shouted at her.

"Don't worry, that was all a lie." She said, smirking.

We looked at the board game and it turned red.

"So you really want to kill someone, huh? How scary." David said. "We should go. There's nothing we could do."

"No, we should wait for an hour to pass." I said. "Clara, stay close. Don't go outside, we'll wait for an hour." I said as I lay my head down to the table.

"Psh, protective loverboy." David said.

I felt someone gently shaking my arms. I opened my eyes and saw Clara waking me up. "Calvin, an hour had passed." She said. "We can go now."

I smiled at her and my hand reached her cheek. "I'm glad you're okay." I said.

She did not respond. She picked her bag up and went outside. "Let's go, David is in the car, waiting for us."

It's raining so hard but we're still going back to the City. We agreed that we will go to the nearest police station first and report what happened. Clara's driving since she know the way. We've been in this car for two hours yet we are not on the main road.

"Do you really know the way?" I asked then looked outside. There are nothing here but tall trees and bumpy road.

"Yes, we're just taking the shortcut." Clara said.

She increased the speed and the bumpy road got worse.

"Hey, it's raining! Slow down." I said.

"Guys, we have a problem." She said, looking nervously.

"What now?" David said.

"The brakes are broken." Clara said. Trying her best to stomp the pedal break. She looked in front her and was shocked by what she saw. "T-There's a cliff! Hurry! Let's jump!" She said.

David opened the door and grabbed me in my arms. "Jump!!!" He said.

Clara was supposed to jump but her door won't open. "Clara!!!" I shouted.

She did not jump and the car went all the way near the cliff. I saw the car fell all the way down. I am now rolling down the hill when suddenly I heard a loud blast.

My head hit the rock and everything went black.
