"Are you okay?" he asked her, his face painted with worry.
"You broke our beautiful little house, so how are you supposed to be inside when the pieces of our broken home could hurt you?" Hazel said with anger lacing her voice. "When I say 'our,' I mean Helix's and mine." Her throat choked as she spoke, the strain of shouting mixed with tears evident.
"I understand your situation, but trust me, I'll fix everything. Nothing is broken," he said as he hugged her tightly. After consoling her, he took her into the house. Firstly, he made her sit comfortably on the sofa and then went to the kitchen to bring water for her and himself.
After she drank the water given by him, he sat beside her and gently hugged her, saying in a soft, calm voice, "I know Helix, she will be alright, give her some time, and I also know how much she loved you."
She buried her head in his chest and broke into a loud cry, saying to him, "Sorry, I don't know how to handle it." She got quiet for a while.
For a moment, a heavy silence enveloped the room, until suddenly, she broke the quiet, reaching beside the sofa to clutch the photo frame of Helix and herself, keeping it tightly in her trembling hand.
"You know," she began, her voice trembling with emotion, "I love her so deeply, just as I love you. Both of you matter equally to me. After our parents, she is my everything. She has done everything to make me happy, sacrificing her dreams for my sake. Even though she lost her love once because of me, and now, she has lost it again because of me."
Tears streamed down her face as she tenderly caressed the picture in her hand. "I seem to bring misfortune upon her every time. Why does it have to be her?" she cried, her voice choked with sorrow.
Her words were a lament, filled with remorse and anguish. Despite the lump in her throat and the tears clouding her vision, she refused to hold back. She needed to express the pain that weighed heavily on her heart.
"I've done it twice, Helix. Please forgive me," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. The strain from her earlier cries constricted her throat, making it difficult to form each word, but she was determined not to give up. She needed to release the pain that weighed heavily on her heart.
....….......................................................................
"After watching Hazel and Alex kissing together in her apartment parking lot, Helix runs from there in her car. She drives aimlessly, not knowing where to go until she reaches the Millennium Bridge. She parks her car at the beginning of the bridge and gets out, starting to walk toward the edge without being aware of where she is going. With each step towards the bridge's edge, she feels the weight of her heartache pressing upon her chest, a relentless tide threatening to engulf her. Upon reaching the edge, Helix stands without holding onto the metal base railing, watching the constant flow of water with emotionless eyes."
Beneath her nub eyes, there is a deep pain burning her heart for years, but somehow, Alex has been able to keep the fire cool. However, today, this fire has become a volcano, ready to explode at any moment.
"S..... A....M," Helix said, struggling for words to come out. Her throat was arid, choked from continuous crying, and because of her cruel act, she couldn't utter a word. But somehow, she managed to speak a little bit. Her body might have given up, but her heart was not ready to give up saying the name, and she could feel relief after doing so.
"A resounding 'thud' echoed across the desolate bridge, drawing the attention of passersby on the quiet road, and soon, passers along the road came to see what was happening. A few people arrived there in no time, as the bridge wasn't crowded. There were hardly any people who came because this bridge was far away from the city and dangerous, with a river below infested with crocodiles. Amidst the sparse crowd, a woman in her mid-thirties emerged, her voice filled with desperation as she implored, 'Please, someone, call the police! We need help to save this poor girl!' Her frantic plea hung in the air, a stark reminder of the perilous situation unfolding before them.
"Oh my gosh, dinner for crocodiles," another voice came from a few people who were standing there.
"Are you mad? Just stop," the same lady who screamed earlier to save the girl said again, upon seeing a guy who was standing next to her about to jump to save the poor girl.
A tall boy, looking to be in his mid-twenties, with a well-toned body, sharp jawline, and intoxicating eyes, sweat on his forehead making him look like a god of heaven for whom every girl easily drools.
"He had come there before Helix, and he wasn't aware of her presence because he stood opposite to her, immersed in his thoughts, looking deep down, resting his arms on the railing of the bridge. But when he heard a mute consonant, he rushed towards it and saw Helix jumping without a second thought. He didn't care about other people's words; he jumped after her to save her.
"He wants a death wish," voiced a few who didn't understand what had happened. In mere seconds, the boy displayed a disregard for his own life. Without considering the risk, he leaped.
As he met the bottom of the river, he could feel a hand, and he knew whose hand it was. Without a second thought, he rushed to catch her hand. But the moment he held her hand in his, he felt a sudden electric current coursing through his body's every core. Even underwater, he could feel her warmth and the current that momentarily froze him.
Holding her hand tightly and gripping her waist, he slowly emerged from the river, floating along the bank.
