Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: Our entangled past

"Master Vin, good to see you here," Arya nodded at her. Vini wasn't particularly surprised seeing him there. She felt something different in him the moment she saw him.

"Are you here for the auction?"

"No," he smirked.

"Oh, then what's your reason?"

"To cause chaos!"

Vini abruptly stopped walking to glance at him. He walked beside her in a leisurely pace like an emperor surveying his kingdom. Maybe he was. He had a charm that could make anyone fall on their feet to worship him. Maybe he was a king in his last life, she mused.

She didn't know or rather she didn't remember that he was the arch mage in his last life because he had given up his right to the crown.

They walked in to the innermost hall where the auction would take place and waited for it to start. Vini played with her phone and chatted with her guardian. Ni told her many book plots and also some film stories. There was no day without fun when she had Ni.

The auction began. Vini didn't participate because she couldn't spend the money which was safeguarded for the company affairs. She looked at her companion who looked bored and out of place. Arya sat lazily without a care in the world and did not bid for anything. There were magical amulets, spirit animals, daggers, knives, books, antiques but not particularly eye catching to Nivi. She was utterly bored lying in wait for the five billion man.

"What would you like to get here?" he asked her.

Vini considered for a moment.

"Definitely a flying and talking cat or flying penguin."

Arya smiled," I don't think they have those here. Or anywhere actually."

"I know right. That's why auctions are boring."

It was at that moment Vini realised she was grinning too and maybe she had made a new friend.

"And what about you?"

"Depends on what you want. I'll buy it for you."

"Heh. Then we will be bored today and I'm saving your money."

"Maybe," he nodded.

Vini felt a gust of air and she reacted instinctively. She caught a dagger flying at high speed between her fingers.

"Looks like you are being targeted, Master Arya."

He took the dagger from her hand and inspected it. It was nothing special in its appearance but it was infused with magic. Highly lethal magic. Arya had no change in his expression. He put the dagger below his chair and resumed his stance.

"What's happening?"

"Eh, nothing. People finally found out my existence and now they are targeting me. Bunch of idiots in my opinion. Like I will be caught unaware in this kind of situation."

"Who are you then?"

"You didn't guess?"

"I would rather listen to you than speculate myself.I trust you, you see."

"Fine, Master Vin. I'm the last living member of the Royal General's family. My parents died and I've been living in shadows."

"And now it's time to get revenge, right? I'll help you. "

"Why would you want to get caught in this?"

"Because I think my parents were also killed. Your resources are far better than mine and magical ability too. I will be faster with you. And I can hel you too. My magic is rare. No one knows. I lied on my documents."

"You are interesting, Vin. I find you a mystery. Every sentence you talk makes you more sophisticated and mysterious to me. Anyway, happy cooperation. "

'Master, mistress is our partner now.'

'Ya,get out of my mind. This is risky. She is sitting beside me. If her guardian catches you, it will be bad. We have to wait for the correct time to reveal our identities. Get out now.'

'Okay, okay, master. Just don't be nervous. You

already are grinning like a fool. Mistress might think you are an idiot.'

The auction continued and Vini saw many exotic animals, paintings, weapons, and magical books. She sat with Arya and neither of them spoke. They concentrated on the people around them and tried to find someone related to the dagger.

The person was well disguised and Vini was exhausted with this. She slumped and yawned. It was already three in the morning. It was good that she was the boss or she would have been fired long ago.

"Master Arya, nice to meet you."

Vini turned to find a middle aged man leaning towards Arya. He looked like a scholar and had a highly strong aura.

Arya stood up and greeted him. Vini did the same. The person looked important.

"I'm the last Imperial priest, maybe you wouldn't know me. After your family left, I had to step down. The council made new rules and everything changed. I was waiting for a sign to contact you and I felt the magic here."

"Respected priest, I know that you are here. I'm sorry for not revealing myself these last few years. But now that I'm here, your position and life, the danger is gone. You just have to concentrate on your work."

"Thank you Master. Your parents would be proud. Very proud. I'll meet you later. Take care."

The man had a huge smile on his face and then he retreated into the shadows.

"Why are you so good to him? What if he was the one who wanted to kill you?"

"It can't be because he was the one who told my parents to leave. He saw the future then. If not for him, I wouldn't be here today. So I had to keep him safe now. When everyone knows about my existence, they will want him. I have to plan without any room for any small error."

"He can see future, wow. That means your parents knew they were going to die? They were so brave."

"Yeah they are. What happened to your parents?"

"I don't know. We were on vacation and one day, they performed magic on me, told me to take care and then I don't remember anything."
