"I am glad to infrom you that you are accepted to Linrom University in New York City as one of the scholars. For more information visit www.linromuniversity.com." I cut the long message short. My grandfather and grandmother was behind me, looking at the piece of paper given by the mailman this morning.
"Congratulations, Ella!" My grandmother blurted in happiness while my grandfather smiles. I look at them and hug them both.
"I knew you'll be accepted, without a doubt!" Grandpa said with pride. My grandma smacked his arms with a frown. "You're the one who's more worried than me before. You can't fool anyone here, you old man!" I laughed at their stunts.
"I don't remember saying that." My grandpa denied her accusation. She hissed before looking at me again. She looked at me from head to toe before clasping my face into her palm.
"My baby is now all grown up." Her eyes became glossy, blinking fast to prevent her tears. I sighed and hugged her, tapping her back.
"I know you're worried about me, Grandma but I'll be fine. I'll come home whenever I have time and help you with our farm when vacations." I promised. She nod in between my neck and shoulder.
"Stop the drama, Fely. She'll just take her college miles away from here but she'll be fine. She the confident, smart, wise and independent woman we raised. She'll make it through." My grandpa's voice cracked and immediately cleared his throat. I chuckled with how he's trying to hide his emotions.
"Grandpa is right. I ain't going anywhere without you two and Alfredo. I'll just finish my college so that I could fuly manage the farm and you two could take vacations anywhere you'd like." I said. The two smiled and nod at the same time.
"Speaking of Alfredo? Where is he again?" Grandpa sighed when there's no single trail of Alfredo. Alfredo is my younger brother. He's eleven years old.
"Maybe he's with Theo." Theo is my pet pig residing at our backyard with Tobias and Vasquez, they too are pigs.
"That sneaky Alfredo! I bet he's all dirty now. He's wearing white for pete sake." Grandma exclaimed. Yeah, I saw him wearing white a while ago as we receive the mail.
I chuckled. "Don't worry now, Grandma. I'll make sure he'll do his laundry." I assured her. Wrinkles are visible at her face but still manage to look beautiful as ever.
"Stop worrying too much. You'll look ten years older than what you're actual age is." My grandpa her spat. She crossed her arms across her chest and looked at him.
"You're the one to talk, huh? You look seventy rather than sixty." I laughed and he gasped.
"You ---! You're so old, your breast produced expired powdered milk!" Both my jaw and my grandma's dropped with what he said.
"What did you just said, Alejandro?" Her voice now is covered with warning making me and my grandfather shut our lips. Her magic broom were automatically at her hand and is ready for war.
"I-I'm just joking, Fely. Don't take my jokes seriously!" He said, trying to save his ass from a whip. I smiled looking at them two. They are in their sixty's but still so inlove with each other and joke around like teenagers.
If given the chance, I'd like to have that kind of love too. It's pure and worth living for. My grandpa held the broom before she can even sway it to him.
"Grandma." I said. She looked at me, saying I am out of their business and must stay away or she'll hit me with it instead. I bit my lips inside and stood there quietly.
"You let go, Alajandro or I'll kick your balls out of their sockets!" She warned but he didn't let it go, maybe he realized that even if he did, he'll get hit.
I chuckled.
"I was just joking." He reasoned out with pleading eyes. Some says that he's so under with my grandmother but always reply with, "Nah, I'm just so inlove with her." And that's perfection.
"You let go now so we could finish this!" He shook his head in disagreement and I just laughed. I'll surely miss this.
I looked at the letter, "... Classes will officially start at August 5 of 2020." That's a week from now. I'll surely make my remaining days with them unforgetable.
