Chereads / The Guy in a Coffee Shop / Chapter 19 - Angel Eyes

Chapter 19 - Angel Eyes

"S-stay for a while please." He whispers yet it's enough for me to hear him.

I smile and get back to sit. As his hand remains intact with my wrist and slowly caresses it. When he does that, I feel a shiver down my spine.

His eyes wide when realizing he's holding my wrist and pleads, "I-I'm sorry." Then he pulls his hand away.

"It's okay Christian. You can hold my hands if you want. I'm here to comfort you." I mumble with a smile.

"I don't know why you are very kind and sweet to me. I'm a bad guy so you have a reason to get away from me." I sigh and stare outside.

"Did I tell you that I don't believe that accuse against you?" I ask. Likewise, I see him nod before taking a small bite of his croissant.

"It is good."

"Thank you. I bake them."

"You love your job." He glimpses around and glances back at me.

"And your place, full of plants and flowers. It'ss real nature." I giggle at him and nod.

"I love decorating my shop as nature like this, I want my customers to feel relieved and relax by seeing these plants and many customers throwing some compliments about the shop."

"Really?" He asks.

"Yes. And do you know what makes it lovely?" He smiles as he shakes his head.

"It was because of our lovely customers and most especially our team. I cherish my employees the most and they are my family. Theodore, Justin, and I are childhood best friends and we are dreaming of having a shop like this. Yoongi and Jennie are my college best friends so I join them on my team. And this place was a gift to me for my 20th birthday."

"Who gave this to you?" He implores as he sips his drinks.

"My father." I smile and when I feel tears rush through my cheeks quickly, I dry my tears.

"What happened?"

"After he gave this shop, he felt his chest aching so we rushed him to the hospital. They immediately did the operation yet it's too late. Suddenly, his body gave up and died last year. It was heartbreaking to us since he is a great father and a friend to me, especially to my mom. She had a mental breakdown so I needed to temporarily delay the grand opening of this shop just to take care of her but she insisted to open the shop and keep going. We helped her a lot to recover and a few days later, she introduced her boyfriend and his son. So I'm happy for her."

Then I lean closer and murmur, "And guess who is my brother?"

His brow furrows when I whisper to him. Suddenly, I stop when realizing that his face is closer to me and his scent, a coconut around him.  Slowly, my eyes travel to his face and he has brown beautiful eyes and it's more beautiful when it's close to my eyes.

He clear his throat to get my attention. Then, I blink multiple times and back away. He just chuckles as he looks at me.

"You're blushing. Do you like me that much?" I begin to cough when I spit my saliva. Promptly, he bestows his drink to me and sips some.

"Indirect kiss." I look at him, realizing that I drink in the same position where he sips. I yank it away before looking elsewhere.

I pout when hearing him chuckle.

"Okay don't pout now angel eyes. Now tell me who is your stepbrother." My eyes wide when he calls me by the nickname.

"A-angel eyes?" He leans forward, leveling his face to mine. Suddenly, I feel my blood rushing through my face which forms into a blush.

"Yes. Because you have angel eyes." He whispers as he leans his face to his hand.

"F-flirty." I stutter.

"If you say so but I'm just telling the truth angel eyes. Now, shall we continue your story?" He says as he sits properly.

Playfully, I roll my eyes at him when changing the topic all of the sudden.

"Okay fine, baby dooly." Instantly, His eyes wide. 'Did I say something wrong again?' I ask myself.

"H-how did you know that?" He stutters.

"What did I know?"

"M-my nickname. Baby dooly. One person called me that." He mumbles.

"Ohh, really? I didn't know. It just came out of my mind."

"Y-yes but it's okay." I smile and shrug it off.

"Okay, I will continue now. Yoongi is my step brother. His father was divorced from his wife and My mother and Yoongi's father met in New York last 6 months. Yoongi's father was a wealthy person but he is very kind and humble. No one knew that. Just our family and now you." Slowly, he nods whilst staring at me with a disinterested gaze.

"Hey, are you bothered that I called you a while ago?" I ask.

He smiles and shakes his head.

"No. It is just that I'm wondering how did you call me dooly. One person called me that and I called her crybaby."

"C-crybaby?" I ask him.

He nods his head. I look at him with incredulity when recollecting my past. When I was a child, someone called me 'crybaby', and he says that I'm always crying at all things around me.

"Mimi, I-I need your h-help." Yoongi stutters and as he calls me, I turn behind, seeing him rubbing his temple while looking away and striving to go hide his blushed face. I smile, seeing him embarrassed when asking for help.

I nod.

"Christian, sorry but I need to help him out. See you later." I say as he nods.

Suddenly, I stop when he snatches my wrist.

"I forgot to ask your name. I know Mimi is not your real name." He says while looking at me.

"Oh right. It's..." I hear Yoongi calls me 'Mimi' again so I pull away from his hand around my arms.

"I'll tell you next time," I said. I follow Yoongi behind and walk to the kitchen.

Then, I see a bunch of bagels that are freshly baked.

"They all tried it so I want you to try this and tell me what you think." I nod. I take a bite and chew the food, thinking of how good these bagels.

"It's good Yoongi." He smiles.

"Jennie helped me to cook this bagel."

"It is really good. We can put that on the menu tomorrow." I comment while giving him a big thumbs up.

"Really? But I'm not that confident to take this out." He mumbles while looking down. Slowly, I lift his chin to look at me.

"It's really good so don't be pessimistic."

"I'm not being pessimistic, I just don't want you to favor me just because you are now my step sister." He pouts. I giggle as I ruffle his hair.

"I'm not favoring you. We've known since we were in college so I know what you are capable of and I also know your skills so don't doubt yourself. And also we are a recent step sibling because of our parents and besides, they are not married yet okay?"

He sighs and nods.

I tap his shoulder, cheering him up before strolling at the counter, seeing Jennie and Theodore grinning at me. My brows furrow when Theo gives a letter to me.

'Another letter?' I thought to myself.

Suddenly, I remember the second letter that Theo gives me. Perhaps, I need to find a letter so I could read it.

"It is from your secret admirer." He says playfully before getting the customer's order. Silently, I wander outside, crouch on the bench and unfold the letter.

Dearest lady from the coffee shop,

'It was my third time bestowing a letter yet I don't infer your precious name. Is it too much to ask to know who you are? I would be glad if you let me know you.

Would you give me a chance to know you? I do hope you would give me a chance. I would love to know you more.

Also, I would like to say that this day is the best day of my life whenever I see you smiling and talking to your friends. Sounds stalker right?

But what should I do, you capture my eyes and most especially my heart. I hope someday, you will be curious about who I am. I'm willing to give you mine.'

Until next time angel eyes.

-Secret Admirer

Hence, I fold the letter as my lips form into a smile and mumble, "I hope I saw you but right now, I'm not ready for you to know me." I sigh.

One thing I notice in this letter—the secret admirer of mine calls me 'angel eyes'.

And what I know, only Christian calls me angel eyes. Within a second, my eyes wide, thinking if it's him but at some point, he's not.

"It's impossible. He's too perfect to like me and so, he can't like me." I whisper. My head leans forward, staring at the blue skies.

"I do hope it was you but there are some thoughts that your heart belongs to anyone."

I know and feel it. Christian is always in his spot, waiting for someone.
