"That's her matters. Why would they come after you?" Jade raised a brow.
Lotus sighed, "Because that idiot is my eldest brother. They all know how much of an eyesore I was. I don't know the correct reason. However, the most likely case was that they wanted to make sure that I do not return to the village. In their eyes, as long as their blood runs through me, I'm just another candidate in line. I had my friend investigate the situation and we found that they found me through my adoption papers in the Valley of Thorns. So, I had my master look into the matter."
"Your master?"
Lotus smirked, "He's one of the noble families in the Valley of Thorns and taught me martial arts. He was not happy to hear that someone was probably snooping around the castle or the city halls. As for that friend, he's decided to return."
"Return?" Jade frowned.
Lotus nodded, "He was probably the one who sold me out, but it doesn't matter. All children have to be like this to survive in the village anyway."
"You're not going to do anything?" Jade raised a brow.
Lotus sighed, "Do you believe that someone who borrows the powers of others are capable of doing something promising themselves? I'd rather he take control and throw the village into chaos. So, there's no need for me to do anything. He can take the revenge for me."
Lotus yawned, "Ah, no good. I'm getting sleepy…"
Jade placed a hand over her forehead and frowned, "You should go back to the dorm."
Lotus shook her head, "I have to finish the lunch boxes. I don't know when something else would happen next. With so many people overblotting, the prefect may have to leave the campus after Grim and everyone the next few days…"
Jade stopped stirring the pot and sat by the table and took up the yam, "Just tell me what you need to do."
Lotus nodded and instructed how to carve the yam and stuff the bamboo as a plug as well as how to cook the food. It wasn't long before Azul and Ruggie returned that they helped her bandage her hand together after Lotus took the needle and thread and stitched the gashes closed, much to Azul's horror.
By the time she left, the others were prepared to leave as well after Lotus handed them a share of the end product. Ruggie was relieved seeing that he got some good meat from all of the effort. Jade and Azul escorted her back to the dorm. On their way back, Jade muttered, "Well… Azul?"
Azul frowned and raised a finger as he hushed, "We do not know anything…"
Jade nodded as they continued down the road to the hall of mirrors.
…..
Back in the dorm, Zhang Li, in her original form, sighed in relief, "It looks like master has managed to cover up the incident again. However, does master really not feel any pain from your wounds anymore?"
Lotus stared back at her hand and shook her head hesitantly, "It… doesn't hurt…"
Zhang Li frowned, "Although it's good that master doesn't feel the pain, but…"
Lotus nodded knowing what she was getting at.
Although it was good that she doesn't feel the pain, it's still a problem that she doesn't feel pain. She sighed, "Looks like I'll have to look into this matter. Zhang Li, you should go back and continue cultivating."
"Yes, master."
With that, Zhang Li returned to her ring. Lotus thought for a while in deep thoughts as she pondered on the reasons behind her loosing her sense of pain. She pinched her cheeks and didn't feel anything. So, she pinched her arm until she drew blood, but there was still nothing! After bandaging the bleeding, she pondered over what she could do in contemplation and if it had anything to do with the Pitohui's clan. However, she did not know much information of her sister's secret forces. If she wanted more information, she needed to ask her eldest sister. Yet, it's been ten million years since she died. Chances that her sisters is still alive can only be a miracle. But, that doesn't mean that it's not possible. She hummed in deep thoughts, "Once you reach that stage, you will be thought of as a true immortal by then. The only way to end your life is by suicide or someone of the same level harming you."
The realm of strength they had been on was immensely powerful that she had great difficulties controlling it at first and was constantly trained by her brother for many years. During those times, mountains have been flattened and the lord always had to be around to help deal with the matter. It was thanks to that training that she built a good relationship with the lord and her brother. However, it was a little much that he ended up getting a little too comfortable and started pulling jests. It was only when Mo Li came around that she finally had a piece of mind and the poor lord was put into a corner to contemplate for his actions. No matter how powerful he was, he could not overcome her fourth sister's magic.
If there was anyone that could keep them down it would have been their fourth sister. However, not long after Mo Li left, Lotus fell under the scheme of the human empress and was later assassinated by her secret forces.
If there were still chances that her sisters were alive, then there's also a strong chance that her enemy is too.
The only problem now is how can she figure out what went wrong today. There was so many encounters that it was hard to figure out where to start. She frowned, "However, there is one thing that is more suspicious than anything else."
That light that came from her body today…
"Master?" Ying Hui poked her head out hesitantly, "Are you feeling better?"
Lotus nodded, "Yeah, you can come out now."
Ying Hui and Little Jun appeared as they made sure that no one was around before they were more settled to stay outside for a while. It wasn't long before Xiao Li soon appeared with an armful of her metal trinkets.
"I've brought the metal trinkets like you asked for, Lotus!" Xiao Li responded.
"Thanks, Xiao Li." Lotus picked up the armlets and hummed carefully in deep thoughts before she began writing down somethings, "Ying Hui, can you fetch me these items for me? You're very familiar with these stones."
Ying Hui looked down on the paper and found that she was indeed familiar with these stones!
"They're-!"
Lotus waved her hand, "If you know what they are, then go and find them. Time is of the essence!"
"But, master, why are you in such a hurry? I thought that you were already prepared." Xiao Li questioned in confusion as Ying Hui hurried off, "Even if you sneak out now, you won't be able to catch those two off-guard again.
"No." Lotus shook her head, "Things would not end with just the disappearance of those who overblotted. The headmaster is responsible for the students. Naturally, they will come for him as well. During that time, the only person capable of being substitute headmaster can only be Mister Trein. With the headmaster's abrupt disappearance followed after the dorm leaders, everyone will be in chaos. This is when those people will strike! We can't give them a chance!"
"I see." Little Jun nodded.
Lotus had already planned out everything. These next few days, she needs to stick close to the two until that moment happen!
Watching her focus all of her prowess on her work and the gems Ying Hui brought out, Little Jun watched in awe. For just a few humans and a single life bonds, she was willing to put everything aside just to protect those four…
"Big Sister is amazing…" Little Jun whispered in awe.
Hiding his emotional tears, Xiao Li nodded in agreement, "Just by entering this school and interacting with these people, our master has changed…"
"I'll say." Ying Hui nodded hesitantly, "I just hope she doesn't become too attached to them, though…"
The two boys hesitated. She was not wrong. A mortal's life span can not even hold a candle compared to an immortal's life span. Soon, the humans and mortals in this world will pass by her as she continues to live her life in the present without them.
"When their time comes… huh?" Little Jun muttered softly, "Big sister will be left behind again…"
"What's there to be so sad about?!" Xiao Li huffed with a scowl, "She still has you, Ying Hui, Me and Crystal! She will never be alone by herself! Isn't that what family is for?!"
Hearing this, Ying Hui nodded her head with a bright smile, "That's right! Life is full of their greetings and partings!"
"That's right. One day, she'll become strong enough to stand on her own, but, till then, I'll also accompany her through her rebirth." Little Jun responded firmly, "The two of us will stay by her side as long as we want."
