Chapter 140 - Deadlier Than Before

She poured the venom onto the porcelain plate and began organizing it onto several different dishes proportioning it so that she does not waste them. She recalled the effects of the species of spiritual beasts that the two came from and began to set herself to work.

As it was morning, Raaji was already eating breakfast as he watched her work from afar. He only ever heard of her studies in herbology from the others who participate in the club. However, he didn't think she could be able to do something like this. Nervous, he turned to the guardians and wondered nervously, "So, when you said you need to create an antidote for your own poison, does that mean..."

"It means that this venom has yet to have a cure." A-Cong answered bluntly without hesitation.

He thought so! So, wouldn't this mean that Lotus was going to create a poison that evven the guardians have yet to create?!

"Not only is she creating a new antidote, but she is also going to create one at a faster rate than the ones who created the poison." Huo Wei noted with a look of interest as he carefully watched the girl's movement. Each decision and movements were carefully thought out and proportioned. Each time she succeeded in an endeavor, she records that and its failures.

Just like this two hours had gone by when she pulled out a magician's cauldron. Huo Wei raised a brow, "That's not a cauldron."

"It's a cauldron for magicians." Hei Hui responded as she smiled favorably with Lotus's decision, "She's taken into consideration that the antidotes need to be able to be reproduced by magicians, not cultivator alchemists. As a result, her antidote comes in the form of potions, not pills."

If she can make a potion for magicians with very easy to find herbs from this world, then producing this antidote would be too simple! She wasn't happy that their venom would be easy to cure, but the fact that she would find someone of such talents and dedication was very promising! For the second time in a long time, she felt very conflicted.

She lit the fire with her abilities as Raaji watched in bewilderment. This was the first time he's seen her use her ability to create something and she was doing all of this without a magic pen! He stammered nervously with hesitation, "She won't start having too much blot from this, would she?"

"She won't." Hei Hui said with a smirk and pointed over to beneath the black cauldron, "Can you see anything fueling the fire or feel anything from the flames?"

"This..."

He carefully observed the flames and was shocked to find that this flame was fueled by the dried husks of palm trees. The fire was lit but it was a very simple fire. Hardly any magic coming from it.

"Feel it carefully." A-Cong said with a huff of dismay.

He felt it again only to feel that there was a little bit of mana coming from the flames!

"This is..." He turned to Hei Hui only to see her ignore him.

"It is an ordinary flame created by her inborn abilities." A-Cong explained, "Cultivators are born capable of using a set number of elements in the world. Magicians does not have this limit, but the majority of the time, cultivators do. If you are born with the ability to cultivate just as you are born with the ability to use magic, then you are also born capable of manipulating a set number and type of elemental, as well as absorbing a set type of mana. As you can see, your friend is capable of using the fire element with her will. This requires a strong control and perception to use their ability like this freely."

"Then, would it be the same as the ability to control your own magic?"

A-Cong nodded and pointed to the site, "See the fire growing smaller and larger at different intervals?"

Raaji could see that Lotus was also waving her hand next to the cauldron as the flames immediately changed in sizes. He had a good idea in his mind but still asked hesitantly, "Is she controlling the flames just as we control our magic when casting spells?"

"Yes." A-Cong nodded, "Being able to cultivate well enough to manipulate their abilities to the exact size needs a lot of practice just as you would practice magic."

However, what he didn't say was that the ability to control their abilities to this magnitude requires a lot of practice and it's rare to see a cultivator capable of such strong authority over her energy at her age. She is only fifteen and she can already control her spiritual energy to this extent. She was also an array master and an alchemist. A rare set of abilities for an alchemist. The more he thought about it, the more he wondered if this was the reason for her shameless behaviour from the beginning. Suddenly, the sense of respect he had for her lessened greatly at the thought of this.

It took another six hours before she finished creating two antidotes. One liquid was a strange creepy green liquid and the other was... well, pink.

Lotus turned to them and smiled, "I'm finished with both antidotes."

Raaji stared at the waste she had thrown out onto the large pail that the spirit beasts had left for her. Out of the four hours, she had only wasted her ingredients one to two times and in total spent about two hours for each antidotes in vials. She unplugged the vials and dropped two drops into two different glass cups. She placed the vials next to the glass cups and Raaji could see the thick liquid turn the water in the cups to an opaque green hue and a clear pink hue.

"Why are you putting the drops into the water?" Raaji said in confusion, "Why not take it from the container?"

Lotus laughed, "If they wanna get the cramps and put their life at risk, then they're free to do so. But, no. The antidotes can cure cultivators and magicians alike from the venom of a Gold Brand Cobra and a Black Jade Scorpion. However, only cultivators' bodies are strong enough to withstand the strong affect of the antidote in their body. Magicians still have a human body in the end, so they require a lighter intensity of the concoction. Two drops per cup would be enough, unless the person has poor health to begin with that I'd recommend one and pray that you make it in time or the poison will get them faster than others."

"Gold Brand Cobra? Black Jade what?" Raaji looked to her in confusion.

"That is what we've become." Hei Hui responded, "As a spirit beasts grow stronger, there are chances that they would have the chance to evolve over time."

"It's better to think of it as, as long as you are not human, you have a chance to grow stronger and, when you do grow into the next rank of power, you may come across the chance to change your real form into a stronger creature if your body and mind are strong enough to bear against the pain of changing the body." Huo Wei explained, "Having been born scorpions and snakes into the world of the living, the only option for them is to become a stronger species of snake and scorpions. In the past, Lady Hei Hui was a White Silver Cobra and Mister A-Cong was a Black Scorpion. They were rather deadly in the past, but, now that they've evolved, their poison and abilities have become much deadlier than before."

"Deadlier than before...?!" Raaji gulped nervously when he recalled that guardians aren't allowed to harm the students. He calmed himself and turned to look for Wes when he found him missing!

"W-Wes?!" Raaji cried out in surprise.

"Your monkey couldn't handle our aura and went back into your hut." Hei Hui answered pointing back into the hut he spent the night in, "It'll be a while for us to fully reign in our aura, so your monkey may not want to leave the hut for a bit. After all, he is but a young monkey compared to a spiritual beast of our current level. The pressure was alarming his senses."

"We will take our leave today after we finished wrapping everything up, then." Lotus suggested with a frown, "Too much pressure from a spirit beast on a regular animal for a prolonged period of time can start to affect Wes's mentality. We can't have that or he'd also start to cause trouble in the dormitory."

"Now that I think about it..." Hei Hui wore a small wicked smile, "Wasn't there a rule that said no pets or animals are allowed on the school grounds without permission?"

Seeing her curled wicked red lips, Raaji shuddered in horror when he saw this and got on his knees, "I-It really, really wasn't on purpose! I just opened my suitcase and Wes popped out from it on the first day of school! I was afraid that I would get expelled or received detention on the first day of school after the chaotic stuff that went on that day, so- so-!"

"Chaotic?" Hei Hui looked to Lotus, "I heard partially about the events of the entrance ceremony, but not the details..."
