She pulled the book out of the book shelf once more and saw that the strange illusion dissipated revealing a bookshelf made of stone. The was a soft click and the shelves slowly parted revealing a pitch black entrance. it was a small cave entrance with torches going down into the underground. Seeing this, Lotus took one step into the tunnel. The torches magically lit up as she walked past them into the tunnel. She didn't think that, for a hidden library, they would put so much magical torches along the walls. She had doubts as she descended into the tunnel, but it wasn't long before she came across a large room that was probably half the size of the original library upstairs.
The secret library was large and it was surprising that it would exist in the underground of the school. After all, the school does not have many underground rooms. Rather, the majority of whatever dark or powerful magic was always kept a close eye by the staff members or taken away from the school for safety purposes. Moreover, the book shelf seemed to have concealed with some form of powerful magic too. It was clear that students were not allowed access into the library, yet the entrance was hidden in plain view.
Cautiously, she glanced around the books during then. They were books of beast taming, books of powerful studies that could bring understanding into the dark natures of this world. At the same time, there were books that talked about powerful spells.
It was only after she had saw one of interest that she stopped and picked it out. Reading across the title, she saw that it was written in a rather old language that she had seen during her travels in the Afterglow Savannah. At that time, another fairy was accompany her and Maisely on their journey and they came upon some ruins. That fairy helped teach her how to interpret the language and she picked up on it to better understand the importance of the meaning behind those ruins covered with sand. Since then, she's been practicing and learning much from the fairies. There were even time that her mother and father joined in to help her. Despite not knowing much about the understanding of humans, they were experts in alchemy and history. Naturally, they knew quite a bit of history from their time living in this world. So, there was few languages that she could not decipher.
With one glance she could easily tell that this book was about the vows of the heaven and the earth. In easier understanding, it was the knowledge of the world's function and their fate and karma! She was stupefied as her hands trembled.
Just by deciphering this, it could become the key needed to unlock the secrets of this world! The world of Twisted Wonderland... No, it was very possible that something like this is also capable of manipulating her birthworld. She just need to look into it to better understand it. After seeing the aura from this book, she could instantly feel the strong pressure on her without even opening it. She frowned and said to Xiao Li as she tossed the book into her ring, "Take care of this. Those guys must not even so as to touch it."
"Yes, master." Xiao Li responded telepathically and took the book into his hands with a slight grumble after being in shock from reading the title.
For such a treasure, she just tossed it aside as if it was trash! He wished that this master of his can treat such object of great importance better care, but it was clear that she have no intention of doing so. He silently wept in his heart as he left.
Right now she was too weak to even read the book's contents. Had she not read the first page, she wouldn't have known that this book would be capable of bringing hard to the reader's body and mind just by reading it. With it's powerful magic, it was indeed worthy of being kept in secrecy. However, if she cultivated a little more she may be able to start reading the contents without getting injured. However, just by letting others know she had such a powerful book in her hands was just asking for trouble to come her way. To keep the knowledge of the book's contents a secret, she would have to help them keep the library a secret. After all, she can't just bring the book with her to another world where a dog would eat another dog just for the bone in their stomach.
Seeing this, Lotus immediately looked to the other books, but he did not find anything of great interest. That was until, she saw that there was a scroll below all the other stone shelves. She looked down to and peered at the scroll. Unrolling, she was struck with another surprise. This time, it was a scroll written in an Ancient language written by those from the Valley of Thorns! The scroll was so old that it would've flaked away completely without magic to protect and keep the scroll in such perfect condition. However, it wasn't the language that left her speechless, but the contents.
The letter were sloppy and the lines were slightly uneven, but she could see without even needing to read it thoroughly! Seeing this, a stuffy feeling welled up in her chest and warmed her heart. Then, without meaning to a tear slid down her cheek as she smiled bitterly. Her knees grew weak, but she kept herself standing firm. How could she have known about the contents? It was very simple!
The answer was because the writings was her first attempt at learning a new language many years ago! This was her journal from her time in her past life!
In it recorded many days of her most happy times and encounters in life with a close friend who had been forced to part from her. She didn't think that she would find the journal here in this world of all places after handing it to her best friend! Suddenly, it all made sense. Her friend was from an unknown little realm that was filled with many living beings with sentience. Her best friend was capable of creating so many miracles in the past and have always been thoughtful of her.
She whispered with a warm breath in surprise as she said softly, "Mo Li..."
To her who had been trapped by her own cultivation and forced to act according to the instructions of the heaven, Mo Li had helped and made more sacrifices to help her when they were children. Thanks to her, those days were the greatest times of her life. She had never had as much as she had during those few months.
"I should've known..." She wiped away the tear with a wide smile, "So, this is your world... The clues were so obvious, yet I was so oblivious to it."
She touched the magic from the scroll and she had touched so often. It was then that she noticed the problem. If the scroll was here, where was Mo Li?
She thought carefully of everything Mo Li talked about, such as the farms and the forest that surrounded the human residents. The castles that she could see from afar. They would often talk about each other's culture and have fun with the toys and snacks Mo Li would bring back from outside of the palace with their sworn-sisters. Due to her cultivation, she was unable to act freely to her desires and often lived her life caged in this image she's always forced to stay in no matter what time or place. There were very few places and times where she would be freed from this image, but often those time don't last more than one hour. One day, she came across Mo Li and she was able to go to places she had so often desired to only because Mo Li gave the sacrifice to help her go to those places she so desired. That was until she left and had handed her the journal she was practicing her world's language in. She said she would never part with it, but why is it here of all places? And where was she?
Thinking this, a chill ran down her spine and a bad feeling ran down her stomach. She didn't want to accept it, but she also had to. Yet, just thinking of doing so left a empty pit in her when she thought about it. The air around her plummeted when she thought about her. For the first time in a long time, she was overcome with a sense of loneliness and a dark pit inside her stomach. The hand on the scroll shuddered quietly. The castles and the farmland no longer stood tall and still from the eyes of her friend's description. The large forest had vanished from sight and the many creatures along with her have vanished. Lotus had not only gone to another world, but traversed over a course of many years which included the passing of her first friend from this world. Her voice shuddered as she whispered quietly with glistening eyes threatening another tear to fall, "Mo Li..."
