When she awoke, Peony found herself standing upright in her coffin that had been placed in such a position. A teacher in a red jersey smiled as soon as he saw her take a steady step out of the coffin, "Oh?! Looks like this one is already wide awake! That's rare..."
Peony, now Lotus, got out of her coffin with her golden embroidered hood over her head as she walked out with ease. That teacher in red simply turned away with a short wave as he went onto opening the other coffins. Curious, Lotus looked around and could find that everything else was rather unusual. The room was dark with a little gloomy, but light feel to it with a wide space. It was rather peculiar how the environment could have such a feel to it. Not to mention the large human-sized mirror in the center of the room.
So this was the Mirror Chamber...
Having seen the rest of the students gone around a large mirror, Lotus quickly recognized it as the large fancy mirror that she had came across in the large and gloomy castle back in that ice land of a town. She could see all the students sitting in the chairs offered as a tall man with a feathery black cape, suit, and blackbird mask speak with a wide purple smile.
Is that real or just makeup?
Ah, well. Lotus couldn't care less at the moment anyway. What was more important was that this person was the headmaster and the man was a rather interesting character with a slightly mysterious feel to her. Yet, Lotus feel as though he might not be on a steady par against her mother. However...
Looking amongst the students around her, Lotus could feel that the man has a sturdier mind than the rest of the staff and students on the school grounds. At least, that was how it felt at the moment. As for power...
Let's not go too far.
She sighed in exasperation and muttered under her breath, "I'm getting too far ahead of myself again. There's a lot of people here though. Hm?"
It was then that she noticed from the corner of her eyes an ebony coffin that was slightly unhinged with its lock burnt and melted. Lotus looked around curiously as she saw that no one seemed to have paid it much attention. However, one of the professors had as a brown coat man with a-
Is that a Persian cat?
Well, this seems to be more interesting than he had initially thought. If possible, she'd bring Chili with him, but she knew that wasn't possible because that professor is a staff and she's only a student. Instead, something amusing occurred when the middle-age professor steadily paced over to the headmaster and whispered something during his announcement.
What had been a loud and firm greeting of welcome turned into a shocked and short orientation.
Lotus watched as the headmaster hurriedly called up the first student to the mirror without care of who they were in person. Lotus on the other hand raised a brow noticing that the guy looked rather familiar. She watched on as he saw the headmaster carefully say a few words as the usual white mask floated behind the glass of the large human-sized mirror.
As the headmaster rushed out, the mask turned to the student before him, "State thy name..."
"Elijah Goldsvine." The tall hooded man with the blond hair sticking out stated.
It was then that Lotus saw it. The tall figure and broad shoulders. She recalled there being a child from one of the kids back at the orphanage. The guy wasn't an orphan but his father was the one who managed the place.
Speaking of which, how did the guy get here? She recalled there being a blond hair boy a couple of years older than her practicing with the sword with high hopes of getting into the Royal Sword Academy, not that Lotus would've known about the academy at the time since no one wanted anything to do with her, much less see her.
However, details such as these were hard to forget. This was how she began working part-time in the library back in her town, after all. It was too bad that the place didn't house the books she wanted, though.
Lotus watched as the mirror before the green flames in the glass peered closer at the boy and stated, "The shape of thy soul is... Heartslabyul."
Heartslabyul is one of the seven dorms that exists here in Night Raven College. As should the norm be, all seven dorms were emulated after the Great Seven. Heartslabyul was emulated after the Queen of Hearts. A ruler who ruled over a land of card soldiers and lived in a maze called the rose maze. She ruled over the people with a strict hand, preferably an iron fist you could say, and held on tightly to the rules and disciplines. All obeyed and submitted under her rule or they'd lose their head.
With this, the dorm held rules and strictly disciplined themselves, or that was that the dorm should be.
With one look on the growing number of students sitting uncomfortably as the time went by, one of them finally decides to ditch the event and slipped out the door outside the red-hair dorm leader's attention. Lotus smirked and thought of something rather fun.
She lowered his hood and watched on in silence as a slightly burning energy filled in the back of her eye sockets. The energy suddenly burst into her eyes as she could feel it ache a little.
"Hey, hurry it up!"
There was a whisper behind her as Lotus turned around and saw the two figures with cat-like ears raise a brow when they saw him. One of them scratched his head, "Huh? I guess it was just me..."
"Seriously?" the other behind him whispered nervously, "I heard there were ghosts in the school. Maybe..."
"Why is there a gap within the line?!"
The voice of the short boy with red hair startled the two when it rang across the room.
"C-Come on..."
Upon hearing the voice of the red hair boy, the other two behind Lotus hurried around her as if avoiding contact with her.
"Ren Ebonvile."
A name struck her curiously as she looked up and saw a dark hooded figure with a lock of silver hair poking out from under the hood.
Strangely enough, the mirror wore a hesitant look before speaking with a raised brow and slow voice, "The shape of thy heart is... Hm..."
There was a tense atmosphere as a tall figure in the black cloak hood folded his arm with surprised green eyes narrowed under the shadow of the hood. Another was a short figure with highlights of purple amongst the black hair staring at the mirror with wide purple sharp eyes in surprise, "He's actually hesitating?"
"Diasomnia."
The tall figure nodded and smoothly made his way to the seat of the gathering students of that dorm.
Diasomnia was emulated after the most powerful magician amongst the Great Seven of magicians. Maleficient. A powerful figure known for her forte in magic and curses. Noble and elegant, as according to the tales, with the ability to transform into a powerful dragon. If she remembered correctly, his mother had noted in disdain rather recently that the heir to the Valley of Thorns had started studying behind these walls a couple of years ago. If things went as it's supposed to, he should be a third-year by now.
Lotus then watched as she saw the line of students grow shorter and shorter till it was nearly gone before approaching the mirror. However, the mask disappeared before her.
So, Lotus had been right. It would seem that her ability was strong enough that not even the mirror could figure out her real gender or her presence. Just before she was ready to reveal herself, the front doors in the ceremony hall burst open revealing the headmaster she had forgotten about with another student and a black cat with blue flaming tuft of hair.
"Ah, he's here," said the red hair boy who had been talking about their headmaster with the rest of the dorm leaders of the other seven dorms.
"I cannot believe you all." The headmaster, Crowley, stated in disappointment, "We were missing one new student so I went to find them."
"That and a cat..." Lotus whispered under her breath with a wide smirk.
Suddenly, the tall figure with green eyes turned to her direction as Lotus noticed the tan-skinned guy with big-cat ears. With his shoulder-length brown hair, a thought came to Lotus. A lion?
Sharp ears. Lotus thought as she stared back at the guy quietly with a firm but ignorant look.
Strangely enough, the guy only narrowed his eyes having unable to find his target as the headmaster urged the boy with the messy black hair up to the mirror while Lotus stepped away.
"State thy name."
The boy stared at the mirror curiously before saying, "Yuu."
That's it?
"The shape of thy heart is..."
There was a long moment of silence as the students stared at the black hood guy with the messy hair.
"I do not know."
Lotus raised a brow and stared at the person before her. The boy looked to be an ordinary human. No distinct aura or appearances. Just rather normal in appearance and wouldn't even be mistaken for Heartslabyul or Pomefiore.
As expected a number of murmurs broke out amongst the students as Crowley, himself was just as shocked to hear this. Lotus raised a brow and watched her surroundings carefully.
"Come again?" the headmaster responded in disbelief.
"I sense not a spark of magic from this one..." the mirror clarified firmly making his statement clear for all to understand, "The color, the shape, all are nothing. Therefore, they are suite for no dormitory."
This boy here, Yuu, does not have magic in him.
"An Ebony Carriage would absolutely never o to meet someone who can't use magic!" Crowley stated in bewilderment, "In 100 years there has not once been a mistake in student selection. So, why in the world..."
It was then that the black cat with the blue eyes and sharp devil tail burst out from the binds of their teacher's whip and a loud shout, "Then, I'll take their place!"
Surprised by the cat's sudden freedom, the headmaster ordered aloud, "Stay right there! Raccoon!"
Raccoon? Seems more like a cat to her.
"Unlike that dumb human, I can use magic!" The cat announced out loud with his arms folded like a real human, "Let me in the school instead! If you need proof, I'll show you right now!"
Lotus sighed and lept back to the windows of the room next to the dark red curtains and amongst the floating coffins.
"Everyone, get down!" The red hair boy ordered quickly.
It was then that the cat shot out a burst of blue flames that began to run along the floors and aisles of chairs. However, a student hadn't been quick enough and his bottom got too close to the blue flames.
He cried out in shock, "Hot! My butt's on fire!"
That was one of the dorm leaders, right?
Luckily, the place Lotus had picked had barely missed the flames as she watched the boy with black hood run about the room.
"At this rate the school will be a sea of fire! Somebody catch that raccoon!" The headmaster ordered with an angry look using the glowing yellow dots on his mask.
The man with the lion ears clicked his tongue with annoyance, "Suck ups."
"Hmm?" A blond hair dorm leader hummed with a smirk when he heard that other dorms leader complain aloud, "Aren't you good at hunting? Doesn't it look like a nice, plump snack?"
"Why me? Do it yourself." The Lion man responded bluntly without sparing a glance upon them.
A dorms leader with glasses stepped up with a business-like smile and stated, "Mr. Crowley, please leave it to me. I'm sure the others couldn't stomach harassing the poor creature, so I will take it upon myself."
"That's Azul for you." A voice came out from the blue tablet floating in midair amongst the crowd in a terrified manner, "Always trying to earn himself points."
"Um, hey!" The boy with the silver hair and red eyes call out, "Could someone put out my butt fire already?!
"Are you all even listening?!" The headmaster questioned furiously.
Lotus laid back against the glass with a sigh and a raised brow.
It's only the first day of school and everyone is very lively. How nice...
