"The statue was right over there, behind this huge tree!"
"Are you sure?" Hazel asked.
"Yes I saw its arm!" Adel exclaimed.
Hazel felt scared. "Im afraid to look at it,"
"There is nothing to be afraid, the statue wont eat us!" Adel said
and then they hastily walked toward the tree and went behind it, and there they saw the statue. Adel was having mixed feelings all at ones. While Hazel followed her and instantly goosebumps covered her arms and her legs slowly turned to jelly as she unblinkingly gazed at the statue.
The statue was an old wooden that looks like a young maiden, it stood five and a half feet tall. It was perfectly sculpted as if it was real. The statue has an oblong shaped face, an almond shaped eyes, a pointy nose, and lips so plum. But it aged and there were cracks all over her. And vines slowly making its way up her chest that was slowly consuming her.
"There is seriously something strange about her. Like literally strange." Adel said crossing her arms to her chest and gazed intently at the statue. "And I also forgot what her name is. I know Aunt Carmen told me what her name was."
"Should...should we go and help Kyla now?" Hazel said stuttering while she gazed at the massive tree beside the statue.
"What kind of fruits is that?"
Adel stood beside Hazel and gazed at the massive tree.
"Haven't seen any fruits like that in my entire freakin' life." Adel said as she examines the fruit. It looked like an evil fruit because it was so rounded red, spikey, and it has a tons of black spots. "Should we try it?"
"What?! Hell no. There might be poison in it."
Adel laughed. "I'm just joking, I will never ever eat that kind of fruit!"
A strikingly cold wind fiercely blew making them cover their eyes from the debris flying with the wind. Hazel and Adel shivered in fear.
After a few minutes the wind blew very hard, the two were scared, they looked at the statue and suddenly its eyes moved. They were terrified and in great fear they retreated and went to the tree and hid behind it.
"Hazel did you see that?"
"Yes! Let's get out of here! " Adelle screamed.
But they could not move immediately, as if something was holding them back, and soon the head of the statue and its shoulder moved.
The two screamed in fear and they hold each other and covered their eyes.
All of a sudden, they heard a whistle.
"Psssst"
They slowly turned around, and there the statue was now behind them.
"Ahhhhhh!"
They run back as fast as they could.
They crossed the rocky stream and were wounded in their haste.
They did not look back for fear of seeing the statue again. But Hazel turned around and saw the statue returned to its position.
"L-let's hurry!" said Hazel as she was terrified..
"I remember now! Her name is… ..Kasandra!" Adel said breathlessly.
Until they get close to where Jericho and Kyla were.
Jericho saw them hurrying.
"What happened to you guys?" Jericho asked in astonishment.
Adel could not speak immediately but fear was evident on their faces.
"Let's go home!" trembling Adel said.
"Wait, we have not seen the statue yet," said Jericho.
When Hazel heard what Jericho had said, she cried out.
"No! Let's leave now! Let's leave now!" Hazel screamed.
"What did you see? Please tell me before we leave!" Jericho insisted.
"The statue move!' Adel said panting.
Kyla was shocked.
"Are you just making a story?" Jericho said as he scoffed.
"I'm telling the truth, right Hazel?"
"Yes, she moves! So please lets get out of here!"
Jericho can't help and they went back to his car.
When they boarded.
"What is she look like?" Jericho asked.
"She is a wooden statue, she has a long hair, her face was beautiful but scary, so creepy!"
"Damn I didn't see it, I went all the way here!" Jericho said felt dissapointed because of Kyla.
"You mean you want to see it moves?" Kyla furrowed.
"I don't know!" Jericho said.
"Jericho, will you please start the car!" Hazel pleaded.
"Alright! Calm down!" Jerico said as he start the car.
…
After a while.
"We are here in town, let's have a snack , its my treat, let's talk about what happened," said Jericho.
"I'm sorry but I wanna go home!" Hazel said, fear was still seeing in her eyes.
"Me too!" Adele said.
Jerico just shook his head and he sent them home.
When Hazel arrives in her home, she was still in a state of shock, she went directly to her room and glance at the window, the event that hapoened lately was sinking in her mind.
Suddenly the door opened, Hazel felt scared and when she look back it was her mother.
"Hazel, I've done cooking, you may now serve the table, your dad will be home soon,"
"Yes mom," she said but the fear can read in her eyes.
Her mother named Mila noticed that she looks shuddering,
"Are you okay sweetie?" She nodded.
Hazel can't reply immediately, theres no words coming out from her mouth.
Her mother didn't hesitate to asked her again.
"Are you alright?'.
"Yes mom I'm fine,"
"Well, do it what I say," she ordered then went out the room.
Hazel serves the table with their food for dinner, and everytime she remembered the face of the statue, her hands was trembling in fear.
Her younger sister Mia noticed her.
"Why are you look scared?" she asked.
She just shook her head and continued putting plates in the table.
Then Mila saw her look so un easy.
"Tell me, is there something wrong?" She nodded.
Then Hazel took a deep breath and speak out.
"Mom, I went in the river bank, with Adele earlier, and __" she said without finish her words.
"And then what happened?"
"We saw a statue of a woman next to the mysterious tree, and suddenly the statue opened her eyes and looked at us!" she shuddered.
"What are you talking about? And why are going there? its dangerous!"
"Jericho and Adel invites me, we are just curious to see if there is really a statue there,"
"So that's what you got, you saw the statue and now you are feeling scared!" Hazel sat down and pondered. "Maybe you are just hallucinating, there's no such thing, a moving statue? Next time, do not go with Jericho if he will only drag you in a strange place, even if he is rich,"
"But mom, I also want to see it, I almost change my mind,"
"So why did you pursue to go there?"
"I don't know,"
"Whatever, but never go there again okay?"
"Yes mom, never again,"
After a while her father arrive from his work. Hazel took his slipper and gave it to him.
"Good girl, what's our diner for tonight," he asked.
"Mom, cooked chicken curry,"
They all sat down in the dining area and eat diner.
"Dad I got a high grades in my exam," Mia said proudly
"That's good sweetie, you are smart girl," their father named Mario said.
"I just want to be just like mom, to be a teacher some day,"
"Just study well okay?" He said and he turned his gazed on Hazel, who look un easy.
"What about you Hazel?" her father asked. Hazel cant reply,
"Well, why do you look so uneasy?" Mario asked, Hazel couldn't speak. "Daughter, why don't you speak there? Is there a problem?" he nodded. Then Mila chimed in. "That kid went in the dead river bank with her friends!"
"What? Have you been there?" he said in disbelief.
"I'm sorry dad," Hazel replied sheepishly. "And did you know that they saw a female statue next to a tree?" Mila said, "Have you seen the Statue?" he nodded, "Yes dad!" Mario think for while then he remembered something,
"When we moved here 3 years ago, I heard about that statue, someone told me, and the statue has a name, but I forgot, its Kas…" Mario said as he trying to recall the name. "Kasandra seems to be," Hazel react. "That's right, that's the name of the statue, they say it was sowing in the past so no one was going in that river bank anymore." Said Mario. "Is the urban legend about the statue was true?" Mila asked. "But in our three years here, we didn't even heard that something was happening in this area, maybe it was just a myth,"
"But our neighborhood said that it happened before we came here,"
"I don't know, but please Hazel, do not go back again there okay?"
"Yes dad,"
"But why is there a statue of a woman there? that is creepy." Mila asked.
"She is bigger than you Mom, her eyes was glaring like a witch!"
Then suddenly, Mia cried
"I'm scared!"
"Stop talking about that statue again, were just scaring Mia," Mario said and he conforted Mia not to be scared.
