Chereads / That Girl Named Yuna / Chapter 23 - Blind Fate

Chapter 23 - Blind Fate

The time is exactly 1:00

We've been waiting for hours, but it seems that the hoarders won't be coming

Yuna stood up and stretched out.

"Well, I guess I'm about to go to sleep now. How about you?" She yawns as she asks that.

"I'll be staying down here."

"Are you sure?"

"I can't just sleep yet. I'll stay here. Don't worry about me. Ok?"

"Sure.. But I'll make you a coffee before I go. Ok?"

"Ok, no problem."

She then made me a coffee, an espresso one.

It took her a while to make it, but as she makes it, the coffee's strong scent is giving me nostalgia.

"Here's your coffee."

I stood up and took the hot cup from her.

I took a sip, even if it's hot.

"Mhm.. Nothing beats this café's espresso."

She smiled at me.

"Well.. Goodnight. Ok? Try not to push... your..." She slowly lowered her voice.

She didn't complete her sentence.

I got confused.

She started to stare.

Her smiling face slowly wanes, as she stares behind me.

What's behind me though?

As I slowly turn my head to look what's behind, my eyes grew big as I saw them all.

It's the hoarders.

'What? What's going on? Why are they so many?'

I couldn't count how many are they.

30? 50? Or maybe more..

They're all just gazing at us..

I then summoned my sword and grabbed Yuna's hand.

"Yuna! Stay behind me!"

She did what I told her. She is literally shivering in fear right now.

The hoarders then summoned their keychain weapons, and smirked at us.

I gnashed at them.

We were all just staring with one another when suddenly, the hoarders in the front line started throwing knives at us.

The knives they threw, flickered, and didn't even hit the window glass.

It literally teleported to us without even shattering the glasses.

However, I parried each and every one of it. Making Yuna amazed.

'What's this? I've never parried a large amount of knives before? Ah.. It's the sword..'

I then remembered the last owner of the sword. He's just as fast as what I'm doing right now.

Basically, you inherit the skills of the previous owner of the keychain.

I guess I made the right choice in owning this keychain after all.

But wait, did I really?

5 hoarders, then started to break in through the window glass.

"Yuna! Go hide behind the counter, now!"

She hid herself as fast as she can. Meanwhile, I clashed with the attacking hoarders.

I parried, I slashed, and killed the attacking hoarders one-by-one.

It's like I'm parrying with them, but at the same time, slashing them.

Whenever I parry with one of the hoarders, my world slows down, but my movement is very fast.

I don't know what's going on, or how am I doing it, but it's really helping me right now.

If I didn't have this sword, Yuna and I would probably be dead by now..

As I parry and kill the attacking hoarders coming from the main entrance, they suddenly broke in and brakes the barricade from the exit door in the kitchen.

I noticed it, but I also noticed Yuna's ropes.

As soon as the hoarders, who came from the kitchen's exit door, charged at me. Yuna then pulled the rope and trips the charging hoarder.

Her eyes opens widely as the hoarder whom she tripped, glared at her.

However, I quickly thrust my sword and killed the hoarder.

Soon after that, more hoarders attacked, but Yuna and I prepared these stuffs for them.

We prepared flours..

Yuna and I, put on our masks and shades.

I then threw a small sack of flour into the air and slashed it.

I continued doing it to other more sacks 'till it covers the entire area.

The hoarders coughed and coughed. They couldn't see anything at the same time.

'Now's our chance..'

I silently slit their throat, thrust my blade, and slashed them one-by-one.

Some hoarders fell to our traps. Traps full of spikes.

Yuna on the other hand, tries to silently sneak behind them, and then trips them with a rope.

These hoarders whom she tripped, fell to our spiked traps.

She's literally like a sneaky assassin.

As the flour around slowly fades. One of the hoarders tries to attack me from behind, but Yuna quickly smashed the flower vase at him.

I actually noticed him already, but it seems that Yuna got on him first.

As that hoarder fell to the ground, I quickly thrust my sword at him, eventually killing him.

However, the hoarders are still many.

The remaining hoarders were just waiting outside, waiting for the flours of smoke to fade.

As soon as the smoke fades, the hoarders began to attack once more.

I parried with them, Yuna tried to ran, but one of the hoarders grabbed her, so I quickly reacted and threw a knife at him in just a quick second.

She was surprised.

"Yuna! Go upstairs, now!"

She nodded.

As Yuna make her way upstairs, I then blocked the staircase. Blocking the hoarders from going up.

I gnashed.

"Now it's just me versus all of you. Well? Are you coming?"

I smirked as I teased them.

They began to gnash and charged at me.

My battle with them began.

We parried, I slashed them.

They tried to slash me, but they miss.

I parried, I evade, and I attack.

I'm very fast right now, so fast they couldn't predict my move.

I killed each and every hoarders, minute by minute.

It took me hours of fighting them, 'till I can finally say,

"I won..."

It's so exhausting. My hands feel numb, my body couldn't stand straight, and my head is dizzy.

I couldn't count how many hoarders are there. All I know is that piles of dead body are everywhere...

I then heard a gentle voice, calling my name.

"Ryu?"

It's Yuna.

"Ryu? Is it over?" She asks me gently.

I looked at her with a dizzy look. I smiled and nods.

She then head down.

As she looked around, she was so amazed.

"Woah... So many bodies..."

She then looked at me and smiled with open mouth, wrinkles around her eyes, with cheeks all raised.

"Ryu, we made i-"

Everything slowed down..

My eyes grew big, my dizziness quickly fades, and my body is stunned, as I witness Yuna get stabbed from behind...

My entire world literally shattered, and stopped for a moment...
