Chapter 1 - Yokai

"Please, just spare my family." The man sobs while tied to his dining room chair. The cloth had fallen from his mouth down to his neck, slightly stained in splatters of blood and spit. Around the rectangular table sits four other chairs, each filled with another member of his family. Each person is sobbing profusely and pleading through the cloth in their mouths, and the women look at the other three chairs in almost a calming matter as if to say it'll be okay, though the fear in her eyes showed a different story. Despite that in the back plays something like elevator music, soft and light tones yet such sinister lullabies. A delighted hum to sounds from the radio now caused the girls in the other two chairs to sob louder and begin to try and scream. The mother starts to violently shake her head with a look of complete fear at what he'll do hearing them. Each person's hands and feet bound to the chair with a bit of rope around the shoulders for placement. The father begins to struggle again under the lines as he looks up towards his son in the third chair. The boy has been sobbing but is trying to fight his way through his ropes still. None of them should be here. Why do they have to be here?

"Please just kill me. My family did nothing wrong." The father screams towards the kitchen where the music plays. Under the music, if you listen, you can hear the slice, the sharpener running up against the clever in his hand. Suddenly the scratching of the blade stops, and the music becomes louder. The man- no, the beast could be heard cackling under the music. His footsteps cease; he steps from the kitchen, holding a hammer and a clever.

The father begins to scream more. "NONONO, PLEASE LEAVE THEM, I'm begging you." The crackling stopped, but the smile remained as he passed by the father, then the mother. A low snark comes from him as he gets to the boy; looking up, the boy could see almost an inhuman face. This beast looked down at him with a smile nearly ear to ear. In the back, the father shouts.

"He's just a boy, TAKE ME YOU BASTARD!" One last look between the boy and the beast before the hammer comes down—the echo of the gavel like a blacksmith to a sword. The sound of meat being hit rang through the house. All the eyes in the room widen as they feel the blood splash across their skin like a raindrop to the pavement. The screaming is now inaudible as the music plays, and the sound continues to ring out. The boy's body went slack after what feels like hours; it wasn't, though. The song had been no more than 3 minutes, and yet what was left was almost just a puddle. The noise was still a blur as he worked his way to the second chair with the second oldest daughter. She was shaking the chair with no luck as this monster approached, knife in hand now. As he wrapped the girl's hair in his right hand, the light from the kitchen showed what looks like cats' teeth in his mouth. His movements became more barbaric, tipping the chair, so her neck now touches the table.

There's a please heard as the beast disregards it and raises the knife with his left; the father now stares in his daughter's eyes then mouths I'll be there soon. The song stops to the noise of the knife hitting clear through to the table wood, then the sobbing intensifying from the rest of the family. It looks as if the man is becoming a dark red, and he seems to look a lot bigger walking towards the last child. The parents are still screaming, and as he approaches, the eye that was looking at the girl is now on the father. Wait. No, that's not the same eye. As the beast turns from being in the girls' face, you can see it now; he's grown more eyes. Two right above his healthy eyes, his hair far longer and more flowing, he lifts his head, and he roars. Now he's fully up, and his height shows; almost 7'8, his hammer now seems longer more like a bat with bumps. Wasn't much of a man, to begin with, but now there is nothing left but the monster in front of them.

The beast puts his hand on the girls' face, and like a compacter begins to close slowly. Her hands grasp air as it soon stops with the sounds of crushing and grinding; only the parents left to look on in horror. The beast is now holding a club instead of the hammer and a smile as merry as a child on Christmas Day. His full attention on the couple left as he brings the club down on the table, spreading the bodies, and the table remains.

"KILL ME ALREADY YOU PIECE OF SHIT!" The father screams as the monster gets close to him. The smile gets even bigger tearing what would be an average person's mouth open, and then he fixes his gaze elsewhere. One last look is exchanged between wife and husband as the club begins smashing down, breaking the chair and her in it. A puddle of blood could be felt under his foot as his feet slipped instead of connecting with the floor. The club drops to the side with a shaking thud, and everything is silent, with no loud breathing, no snarling or laughing, nothing.

The ropes cut, and the man falls to his knees; on the floor covered in blood is the gun he first used to try and stop the man when he found him inside. With a shaky hand, the man picks up the gun, placing it to his head, and with one final breath, he put the weight on the trigger.

For a minute, the ringing stops, and he figures he's dead. His eyes open to await his loving family arms free, but the reality is too cold. Nothing but their blood and mangled bodies paint the floor and walls. He sees the hand now. Finally, he thinks I'll be there soon.

The beast dropped the body and picked up its kanabō (club) and walked out the door like it just left an exquisite restaurant. One giant leap onto another roof and another slaughter began with the same music, beautiful yet sinister. The house looked like it went out of lights; little did they know it wasn't the circuits.

House after house until running into the forest with a big bloody bag of body parts.
