Afternoon,
Sean just got moved to another hospital, closest to his house. His mother is still at his side, never leaves him through the night. Her eyes are swollen from crying and her hands are still shaking, heart still beating fast… worrying about her own son.
She looks towards the window, seeing the black clouds. It's about to rain anytime soon.
Flashback,
Yesterday, at night,
Maia rushes to Sean's room to look at his condition. After she got the news, she just drove 5 hours straight from her workplace to the hospital. She saw the doctor and the teacher on his side at Sean's room. The doctor's holding a tablet, still explaining Sean's condition to Mr. Jveci. As Jveci saw Maia standing near the opened door, "I'm his mother, how's he?" Maia asked. He jolted up… the doctor too.
"We fixed the skull fracture… he got hit pretty badly. But, he's fine, now… He'll wake up. He's sleeping because of the general anesthesia we gave." The doctor answered, making Maia breathes in relief.
"But, you see here?" The doctor showed Maia the results on the CT scan on the tablet. There's a part of brain that's seems to be off. "That's the Broca and it's damaged. So, your son will might have Broca's aphasia and deep dyslexia."
"What's that?" Maia heart sank, in just a second she thought everything will be alright.
"It can cause… umm… a deficit on his speaking, writing, and probably reading."
"Why can't you just heal it? The… the bronca or whatever…" Maia was about to cry, she's just holding her tears. Just yesterday she saw him in a good shape… but, then… his brain was damaged. This all happened too unexpectedly.
"There are some parts of the brain that can't be restored with powers or any technology. Broca is one of them. The only way to heal is therapy." The doctor said.
"The bills has already taken care by the Walters…" Mr. Jveci tried to sooth her up with some good news.
"Walters…" She couldn't properly, right now. 'Bills' isn't the priority, recovery is. If only money can buy recovery… no matter how much is the cost, she'll buy it.
End of flashback,
Tears… one by one drops from her eyes. She's sitting next to her son, there's nothing she can do to heal him fully. She heard about the Caddawk from Harvey and Ansell themselves, on a side, she holds a grudge on his 'friends'… on the other side, They're not fully in fault either. The Walters even paid all the hospital bills as an apologize.
She feels like she's about to go lose her mind. She grips her light brown hair and pulls it down. There's nothing she can do to her son, not even a bit. If only she has all the power in the world, she would heal that Broca thing and recover Sean fully. What kind of a mother… am I?
"Mom?... umm… okay?" She jolts up. What a surprise… Sean wakes up, fully conscious. She smiles as tears of joy comes out.
Maia immediately pushes the 'emergency' button in happiness.
The doctor immediately rushes to Sean's room… and he immediately runs some tests to Seanan as he sees that Sean's awake. "Can you tell me what happened?"
"Umm…" Sean shrugs.
"Can you tell me what's your name?" The doctor immediately writes out the results.
"Seanan… Mitchellson."
"Can you move your hands?"… Sean moves his hands. "Legs?" Sean moves his legs without any problems and that's a miracle… a 15 score of the GSC. "He's fully conscious… His memories will go back after, maybe few hours," The doctor looks towards Maia. "I will test him again after the few hours…"
Even though there's a glint of relief in Maia's eyes, she's still in fear, that Sean might have that Broca Aphasia and dyslexia thing… but, for now, seeing him awake is enough.
Meanwhile,
Ansell sits at the gray sofa, wearing his white button down shirt, tie, and a black jacket. His eyes are red and the dark circles around them are way clearer… this is still surreal. His body is weak, he lost his appetite. He's fidgeting his fingers. "Ansell, you ready?" Samantha Zion, his cousin asks. She just got home yesterday from a martial arts tournament in another country and she stays with Ansell for a week. She got invited to the funeral.
"Yeah…" He answers with a raspy voice. To be honest, he's not ready… not even a bit. He looks towards his cousin, "Tie your hair up… it's messy…"
He walks to grab the flowers as she ties her blonde hair up. She has the same shade of blonde as Ansell's hair. "Drink some water first… It's okay, you don't have to go…" Sammy says to Ansell.
He grabs a water bottle and a car key. His parents made him learn how to drive a car on junior high with his second nanny. "No… I'm going. take the flowers." He throws the flowers to her.
"sh*t," She mumbles…Stumbling, as she barely catches the flowers. "Throw it properly, next time!"
Ansell just chuckles. At least, he has a glint of happiness from looking at Sammy catching things. She's just bad at those things… don't know why.
Funeral,
The wind blows strong and the sun's setting down. You can see the black clouds… It's funny how nature shows the exact same emotion as him. He parks the car and they got out. He drinks the water and grabs the flowers.
They walk to Blake's funeral. Blake… dies of overbleeding because… of a Caddawk, his blood scattered everywhere as if it's a river and his eyes were in pain… His thoughts are full of if only-s and what ifs as he's remembering what happened. If only I'm faster, he'll probably live. He just wants to put the flowers then, go out, leave the funeral… He feels like he can't do this. His heart thumps fast and mind is in sorrow. Why am I like this?. He stops walking and looks down.
Sammy looks towards Ansell and immediately pats his back. "It's okay…" She says this for the billionth time.
Rain starts to drop… Ansell realizes that he doesn't have an umbrella. He takes out his jacket and gives it to Sammy. She isn't wearing any cardigan or whatsoever. "Just take it, I'll be fine." He says with a sad tone..
