"The friend in my adversity I shall always cherish most. I can better trust those who helped to relieve the gloom of my dark hours than those who are so ready to enjoy with me the sunshine of my prosperity." - Ulysses S. Grant
The road to which the dorms were located was filled with the fragrance of flowers blooming in the sun. Here were great oaks and splendid evergreens with trunks like mossy pillars, from the branches of which hung garlands of ivy and mistletoe, and persimmon trees, the odor of which pervaded every nook and corner of the wood--an illusive, fragrant something that made the heart glad.
Before Zac reaches the room of his dorm. He was stopped by an old woman who sat in the shade of the sun.
"We will have to scan your A.I. Chip to make sure you are at the right dorm," She told him.
After which Zac asked, "Are there perhaps jobs that would be hiring on campus that I could inquire about?"
The old woman responded with a grin, "Of course, but since you are in this school, most would rather train their respective strengths than work at a shoddy job like this"
"There are various ways to earn money on the campus, depending on your skill set of course."
"What kind of skill sets?" Zac asked back.
"There are of course miscellaneous jobs such as being the librarian or the janitor, but most of those jobs are already taken over by automatons. But there are always jobs that would involve being a Transcender on campus."
"You can check out your A.I Chip later to find out more about those, alright you are done, your room is on the second floor, room number 206. See you later."
After Zac returns the pleasantries to the women he goes through the broad hallways in an attempt to find 206. Room 206 was situated on the left side of the hallway, seemingly the same as all the other rooms. Yet to Zac it was as though he found something special.
When he opened the door, he found that someone was already in there.
Silver, oily hair is pulled back to reveal a chiseled, worried face. Clear black eyes, set rooted within their sockets. Smooth skin handsomely compliments his eyes and cheekbones and leaves a compelling memory of his upbringing. There's something charming about him, perhaps it's his decency or perhaps it's simply his sense of honor. But nonetheless, people tend to share local gossip with him, while thinking of ways to become his friend. This is the face of Eirian Geary, it was as though he stands towering above others, despite his narrow frame.
"Hello there, my name is Eirian, I am the second son of the Geary family. My friends call me Ian. I see that you will be my dorm mate, I hope to make your acquaintance for the next 4 years. We can help each other out in the future, thanks in advance." Eirian says as he stands up from his bed, as he holds out a hand in front of Zac.
"Likewise, I hope to make your acquaintance too" Zac responded as he grabbed onto the hand and shook it firmly three times.
"Zac, I hope you don't mind that I have already chosen the right bed, since I was here early I had the time to unpack everything."
"Of course, I will take the left side then" Zac responded while looking at his side of the room.
The room wasn't large by any means, but it did not lack anything that one would need in their room either. A mini-fridge, two beds, two desks matched with two chairs, and even two book shelves that they can put whatever they want on. To Zac it was probably the biggest room he has ever stayed in. The floor is wood and the walls are papered. Light is provided by floor lamps and a ceiling light. The room is done in colors that remind you of the night sky and overall almost looks extraterrestrial.
Zac put his suitcase down near the bed and checked the time. It was 2:51 PM, almost time for his next class. Judging from the time required for him to get to the dorm, it was better that he got going right away.
"Eirian, I am going to head over to the next class, speaking of which, where is the testing center?"
"It should be near the middle of the campus, why don't we head over together? My class is also near the testing center." Eirian responded.
"Sure." Zac answered
As they walk towards their destination, Zac checks his A.I. chip about the job opportunity the old lady in front of the dorm had told him about.
"There is a whole list of jobs, but most are assigned by the school and are like quests more than jobs." Zac thought to himself out loud.
"Yes there are." Said Eirian
"Most of the jobs are assigned by the school, they are designed for you to earn an one time reward in order for you to be encouraged to progress forward and provide resources to you without you wasting the resources."
"In fact, you can do a few right now, downloading your student syllabus from the student portal is one of them, you can also remember the campus map and take a quiz for it."
"Wow what are the rewards for those," asked Zac
"The most basic rewards are Tier 9 to Tier 8 material, you can gain access to some of the library books, Tier 9 and Tier 8 augments are on the table as well."
"Well we are almost there, lets split up here for now and we will meet up later at the dorm" Said Eirian as he turned and walked towards a different direction waving his hand.
