Chapter 81 - What once was mine

Cindy stared at Alex for a while then replied with a straight face, "Nah, I don't think I will" and left.

Alex stared at her leaving and thought how she made a joke out of this serious moment.

Alex: Okay...

Cindy got home and dropped on her bed without talking to anyone. Her eyes got filled with tears the more she tried to hold it back, "I wish I could change the past..." she whimpered. Seeing her like this, Carla came to check on her. She quickly wiped her tears and opened the door, "Sorry Aunt, I needed to pee".

Carla: You don't have to hide it from me. I've heard that excuse a lot of times.

Cindy looked down in embarrassment.

Carla: What happened? Did Alex say something he shouldn't have?

Cindy nodded slowly.

Carla closed the door behind her and sat on the bed, "Come here". Cindy slowly walked to her and sat beside her.

Carla: Tell me, what happened?

Cindy thought for a while and decided to tell her the truth, "Alex and I... We...we are still married".

Carla: What?

Cindy: Yes...

Carla: Did you two get married in Shanghai!?

Cindy: Nooo, we didn't.

Carla: Then!?

Cindy: The divorce papers were fake, it was never official.

Carla: What!?

Cindy nodded.

Carla couldn't believe what she just heard, her eyes got filled with tears as she tightly hugged Cindy, "I hope you two will make things work out now, I'm so happy that I still have a chance to make you my daughter-in-law".

Cindy didn't know what to say, she didn't want to be heartless and break her heart but she also didn't know what else to do.

Meanwhile, instead of going to Cindy's place to pick up his mom, Alex went to a bar nearby his office. He was too sober to deal with all this thing going on in his life. He sat down and ordered 10 bottles of 500ml beer. He opened a bottle with a bottle opener and drank in one shot. Seeing him like this, a girl walked to her.

"You must be very depressed". Without looking at her Alex replied, "What do you want?"

- "Not much, can I have a drink with you?"

Alex replied coldly, "No".

- "That was fast, but I don't take no for an answer".

"I'm married".

- "As if married men don't mess around".

Alex looked straight into her eyes, "I'm happily married and my wife is Commander Cindy Andersen, Do you want her to shoot you in the head?"

As soon as she heard it her expression changed, "My friends might be looking for me", and ran away.

He opened another bottle and drank it in one gulp again.

"You lie quite well". Alex could recognize the voice instantly, "Didn't know I'd see you here, Matthew".

A silver car stopped in front of Melissa's apartment and a man of average height got down from the driving seat. He wore plain blue t-shirt and a black puma cap, a black mask covering his face full of beard. He looked around for a while and got inside the building, he got to the 10th floor and went inside Melissa's apartment. As soon as he closed the door behind him, Melissa pinned him against the door and madeout passionately.
