Chapter 52 - Her first kiss

"What do you mean by that? Just think about the monkeys, which male monkey does not carry a group of mother monkeys? Which male wolf does not lead a few female wolves? And …."

Night spoke with a serious look on her face.

Edward's heart broke apart a little upon seeing Night trying to justify it all. For her, it was all natural and part of nature but for Edward, it felt a bit weird especially seeing how he was once married and then lost it all.

Edward knew that he was just imposing his morals that naturally would never apply in this era and that was kind of selfish and unfair of him. Still, Edward was a man who had spent only around a week in this new world and he just couldn't change himself like an "on-off" switch.

"What do you mean by multiple girls?"

Edward asked while pretending like a dense thirteen-year-old.

Still waiting for an answer from Night, Daisy sighed from nearby and sat up.

'Daisy wasn't sleeping? It means she must've heard everything!'

"Light bro did you just came back? Don't wake me up too early! When you were gone for these few days, Night sister and I were worried to death about you!"

Daisy's rubbed her sleepy eyes as she yawned. Edward suspected that she had woken up some time ago and was listening to his conversation with Night.

'This girl is clever. She is changing the topic so I could have some more time to think things through. Instead of Night, she was the one who felt my hesitation. For a moment I really thought that she wasn't really a woman of this era with how clever she is with this kind of stuff.'

"Is your stomach hurting? Get up, let's taste the broth with salt tonight!"

Daisy climbed up and licked Edward's face. She said arbitrarily:

"I heard from Night sister that you touched her lips with your lips, I want to try it too!"

Edward's eyes flashed and he glanced at Night. He had already explained the meaning and its significance to Night.

Night smiled and encouraged Edward.

"Light try it with her too."

'The primitive society is really great! It really fits with the true nature of man. It's every man's dream.'

Edward had a sly look on his face as he faced Daisy. Edward grabbed Daisy by her shoulders and stared intensely towards her eyes. He slowly moved forward as Daisy just looked back at Edward seemingly accepting whatever he did to her.

Their lips touched and Daisy instinctively closed her eyes. It lasted for a few moments before they separated.

After being released by Edward, Daisy's vision blurred and she just sat there muttering in her mouth:

"Soft, itchy, numb, and crisp.....It felt so good... so this is kissing."

Daisy had heard about kissing from Night and she wasn't sure about what it exactly was but now that she experienced it herself, she was glad that she got to try it.

Edward then turned towards Night and bent forward to kiss her too.

"Light, when can you kill the saber-toothed tiger?" Night whispered to his ear. Daisy laughed when she heard Night speaking that.

Edward felt hot with Night whispering in his ears. The rabbit skin around his waist was rising up again….

....

The sun rose again and Edward was full of spirit. Accompanied by Night by his left and Daisy by his right, he commanded a tribesman to dig a hole about one meter in diameter and 50 centimeters deep on the ground next to the garbage dump of the camp. Then he brought a few pieces of deerskin, which was brought back yesterday. An antelope skin and six fox skins were all placed in the pit.

He then proceeded to pour in hot water and mix the ash and salt that has been burned out.

Anyway, Edward had never cooked before so this was all just trial and error for him.

He had already scraped some of the nitrates on the toilet wall while trying to hide his embarrassment.

When he had checked the toilet in the morning, there weren't many white precipitates on the wall. After all, it was only ten days and there was a limit to how much that could be scraped out. However, the amount that was extracted was good enough for him at the moment.

Everything was added to the pit. After Edward stirred it with a stick, he patted his shoulders and smiled:

"Wait until tomorrow, about the exact same time as today."

"Light bro, so stinky!" Daisy frowned.

"Light brother….yes…right... I have been sending everyone to use ….. to use your toilets as you commanded."

Debro spoke from behind Edward. Edward had asked him to tag along in the early morning as Debro was the one in charge of their settlement's defenses when Roc was gone.

"Also… I… I found Wolves. There are often…wolf nearby lately. We even collected… their dung."

"For real?!"

Edward was shocked.

'Indeed this could turn into a problem'

"Actually, I... I have long suspected today.... Tonight, I asked.... A... Roc to ambush, no.....not shooting it, just scare it away!"

"That's good thinking on your part Debro." Edward praised Debro.

Edward felt satisfied knowing that Debro had not grown complacent and over-reliant on the seemingly 'invincible' bows and arrows. Ambushing and just scaring away the wolf was the right tactic at the moment. They needed more people to handle a wolf.

"Also… I..I used fire to scare…the wolf away. Small….animals are afraid of fire so …. I thought it would be the same …for wolf too. Was …. It bad?"

The last part of Debro's sentence was basically a whisper but Edward had caught his words.

'HOLY SHIT! This is something amazing!'

Edward was amazed that Debro had thought this through. He had utilized the tools he had and used them wisely. He had observed that fire scared the small animals away and then he arrived at the conclusion that it could also be used against Wolves in the night and tests his theory out.

What surprised Edward most was that these savage people were capable of thinking ahead and breaking the barriers they were restricted under.

Naturally, Edward praised Debro and encouraged him to think outside the box the same way he did with the wolves.
