XAVIER'S POV
"So, what class do you have next?"
Ophelia had been stressed since the morning. She looked tense from the moment I picked her up. She rarely spoke and she looked like something was bothering her. We only had our first class together, so I couldn't ask her.
I wanted to know what was bothering her. I hoped it was nothing with her parents. Toxic parents, having only one of them or both, can mentally drain you. I knew it because even though my mum wasn't toxic, my dad was. His drinking made it so hard for me to see him as a father.
He had just become a breadwinner, at first, and then nothing to us.
"Uhh, yeah, I have math."
Her eyes weren't focused. She kept looking from one side to another. It felt like she was lost. She was here but she wasn't.
"Hey, umm, Xa-"
"Hey Lia! Long time no see! Where have you been, girl?"
