OPHELIA'S POV
"Can I ask you something?"
Me?
"Uh yeah. Sure."
Xavier got up from the swing and walked in front of me. I stopped my swing too. It felt like the atmosphere had shifted to a really serious one. One second, there was fun and joy in the air, and the next, the air felt clogged. Almost thickened.
"Why were your eyes red today, Lia?"
Again with that question. I thought he had believed me. At least, I thought that my lie was convincing. I didn't really want to bother him with my shit. He already had enough going on. Plus, it was my job to save him and not the other way around.
Hell, I didn't need saving.
I didn't deserve it.
"I told you, Xavier. It was nothing. Probably an allergy or something."
