Chapter 10 - Leaving

After Rueth healed Asmo's injuries in his lab using methods kept unknown to Asmo, he was told to get in a carriage with all his belongings. On the way there he was taught by Izzy the reality of the world, and the horrible situation he was born into. As they slowly made there way across a road surrounded by wheat fields Asmo felt lost and terrified. "We will reach our destination in two days, finally done with eating these rations and getting a real meal. Hey Asmo, what are you doing." Leaning over a book that was about the past, he was mumbling on how it was of nothing but lies. Lies he now knew were made to comfort the masses from the horrible situation they were all put in, and forced to live in.

"Stop mumbling to yourself and put that book down, I need you to help gather firewood for tonight." Getting up and walking toward the side of road, he slowly gathered enough twigs to fill both his arms. "Where are we going, and why did we leave the fort?" "We left because they made it obvious when they attacked a seven year old child and almost crippled you. We are going to the former Royal hunting lodge, it was made by your grandfather who enjoyed hunting rabbits." Hearing her he calmed down a little, this entire time she would never answer where they going, only today when they were almost at their destination did she speak about it. "I will begin training you, you will learn rune magic from me." "What does it do, can I become strong using it!" Seeing his excitement grow Izzy started to laugh, he made it obvious he knew nothing about magic. "Yes but that is something way out of your league little guy, it takes years to master runic magic. It is regarded as the slowest magic to learn, and the most time consuming." "They why teach me it if it's so bad." "Because you are only seven by the time you are eight you can probably cast your first spell, and if you dedicate a couple years to it you can easily become the lowest tier mage. However the greatest benefit of learning runic magic unlike all others is that it can't be stolen like a scroll or a magic sword, once you learn it you can't unlearn it."

"Why do you care so much about people stealing my stuff, if I'm strong they cant steal from me. Just teach me strong stuff instead, like magic sword skills that cut a mountain in half!" Giggling at his comment, Izzy knew just how little of the world he had seen just from his own comment. Leaning over and putting a hand on his head Izzy just smiled and told him the truth. "If you have anything that can help you survive, I can assure you your siblings will smash it or steal it. So focus on things they can't take from you, because at the end of the day it's just me and you together in this world."
