"Who are you actually?"
Hyunji answered with a low voice, "No one ... just a sinner who hopes to die soon."
Again, they were enveloped in silence again.
There are many questions that Jungkyu wants to ask right now. But before he could open his mouth, Hyunji had already left. Leaving him alone in the room. He couldn't do anything but stare at Hyunji's back which was getting away from his sight.
He took a deep breath and leaned back against the head of the bed. Silently, he touched the scar on his cheek. He winced in pain. It seemed like the wound was quite deep, but he couldn't come to the hospital considering his clothes and face were covered in blood everywhere—moreover, it wasn't just his own blood.
Therefore, after having a brief conversation with each other pointing guns, the two of them decided to go home to avoid eyewitnesses. And Hyunji offered to treat his wound as a form of accountability.
Jungkyu chuckled softly. He thought, since living with Hyunji, he had become more and more stupid. He even allowed an assassin to be around and treat his wounds—even though after seeing the incident firsthand, he was sure that Hyunji was not an ordinary person. She didn't even show any guilt after shooting someone in the head with her gun.
Considering the current situation and for the future, Jungkyu should have kicked Hyunji out. But ... he didn't want to. Maybe because he was still curious about Hyunji's real identity, which she said she wanted to keep it as secret. After all, this way, it will be easier for him to monitor Hyunji's movements, so that she wouldn't do anything that could harm him in the future.
"I need to cool my head. Do you want some?"
Jungkyu turned towards the door. Hyunji just came in with a lot of canned beer—which he was sure she stole them from the fridge. "They're mine, so I should be the one saying that," Jungkyu sneered.
Hyunji ignored Jungkyu's words. She put the cans on the table then sat down on the sofa. Jungkyu joined afterwards. And they were busy gulping down the contents of the cans quickly, ignored the burning sensation in their throats.
Especially Hyunji. That girl is like a madman. Within five minutes, she had finished three cans of beer alone. Her face started to turn red, indicating that she was getting drunk.
She's messed up. Her mind was a mess. And her hands couldn't stop opening the cans one by one.
All of that could not be separated from Jungkyu's observation. He had finished his second can since a while ago. But seeing Hyunji's behavior, he stopped his intention to get drunk tonight.
Suddenly, Jungkyu's phone that was placed on the table lit up. There was a message notification from Taekwang saying that he and the other would come to Jungkyu's apartment tonight.
Previously, he had indeed contacted them to come. But he didn't expect them to come right away because it was almost midnight.
"Hey, Jungkyu ... why do you care about me?"
Jungkyu cancelled to reply to Taekwang's message. Instead, he turned his attention to Hyunji and put on a confused face. "When did I care about you?"
Hyunjin laughed. "If you didn't care about me, you won't let me stay here."
Jungkyu grabbed another can, then pulled the lid. "I didn't do it out of concern. I just felt sorry for you."
Hyunji paused, then nodded in understanding. "I see ... turns out that I am that pathetic." She finished the beer in her hand, put the can on the table, then turned to support her chin with her hand while looking straight at Jungkyu. "Do you expect anything from me?"
Jungkyu frowned.
"Just say it. I can't live here for free, can I?" Hyunji turned around, facing Jungkyu completely.
"No need to do anything. Just shut up and don't tell anyone anything about me."
Hyunjin fell silent again. Her gaze didn't leave Jungkyu at all.
Meanwhile, Jungkyu was busy drinking his beer, ignoring Hyunji's gaze. Until suddenly, Hyunji said something that almost made his drink come out of his nose. "Aren't you afraid that I might kill you at any moment?" she said.
Jungkyu coughed suddenly. He choked. The burning sensation in his throat was getting worse. "You ... cough! Stop talking nonsense!"
"I'm serious." Hyunji kept a straight face. "Didn't you notice something after watching me kill someone before?"
Jungkyu took a deep breath. After making sure the coughing stopped, he asked again, "Before that, may I know what your real job is?"
Hyunjin didn't answer. She looked a little nervous. "Forget it."
She reached for a can of beer on the table and emptied it. When she was about to take the last remaining can, Jungkyu immediately grabbed her hand and pulled the can out of her reach.
"You're drunk. Stop now."
Hyunji shook her head. She got up, was about to take the beer in Jungkyu's hand, but get blocked by a sudden headache that hit her. Her body swayed and fell in Jungkyu's arms.
Jungkyu was surprised of course. He reflexively wrapped his arms around her waist. The strong smell of alcohol immediately wafted into his nostrils. He looked down, watching Hyunji who was closing her eyes in pain. "Are you okay?"
Even though it's faint, Hyunji can still hear Jungkyu's voice. She opened his eyes and looked up, observing Jungkyu's face who was very close to her.
Hyunji's actions made Jungkyu blushing. This situation was very awkward for him. He backed away, but Hyunji grabbed his shirt and pulled him closer.
He was surprised with wide eyes. Their noses touched each other. There was only a few inches gap between their lips. Besides, from this close, he could even feel Hyunji's breath touching his face.
"Jungkyu Yoon," Hyunji called. She stared intently into the pair of eyes in front of her. "I'm a cold-blooded killer, so don't be too nice to me."
Right after saying that, Hyunji pushed Jungkyu and vomited her stomach contents. Her stomach hurt, and so did her throat. Her head felt heavy and the world around her seemed to be spinning non-stop.
On the other hand, Jungkyu looks very surprised. He did have time to back off, but Hyunji still vomited on the shirt he was wearing. This girl really brought him bad luck. He even had to give up his intention to nag because Hyunji's body was unbalanced and almost fell like before.
Jungkyu huffed in annoyance. Without thinking twice, he carried Hyunji's limp body and laid the girl on his bed. He turned to look at his t-shirt. The traces of Hyunji's vomit were clearly visible there. Therefore, he decided to take off his white t-shirt and throw it on the floor.
Hyunji looked peaceful with her eyes tightly closed. In contrast to Jungkyu, he is now confused about how to change Hyunji's clothes so that his bed doesn't get dirty.
After having thought for a while, Jungkyu finally decided to take one of his shirts from the closet.
Jungkyu hesitated at first. He was worried about being labeled a pervert, but he had no other choice because it was impossible to let Hyunji sleep in such a condition. With a heavy heart, he positioned Hyunji's body to sleep with her back to him—who was sitting on the side of the bed—then slowly took off the hoodie she was wearing.
Really, he didn't mean to be lewd at all. But he couldn't take his eyes off when he saw the scars running down Hyunji's back. Not one or two, but many and seem to overlap.
Jungkyu was at a loss for words. And when the hoodie was completely removed, he also noticed that there were many scars that looked like cuts on Hyunji's wrists. Some even look like fresh wounds.
"Is that why she always wears long sleeves?" he muttered questioningly.
Jungkyu shook his head, said to himself that it was none of his business.
He resumed his delayed activities. But when he was about to put Hyunji's hoodie on the floor, suddenly someone grabbed his hand.
Hyunji—who he thought was asleep,—was apparently still conscious. She changed her position from sleeping to sitting, then took her hoodie back from Jungkyu's hands.
Jungkyu was surprised to see her. "W, wait! Hey, you ...!" He couldn't finish his sentence. He quickly turned his reddened face the other way because Hyunji's upper body was not covered by anything other than underwear. He cursed in his heart—cursing his mind that was starting to run wild.
But Hyunji didn't seem to realize the impact of her behavior. After reaching into her hoodie pocket, she turned Jungkyu's face back at her. Ignoring his surprised expression, she applied the band-aid in her hand to the wound on Jungkyu's cheek.
Jungkyu was stunned. Especially when Hyunji looked at him intently and said, "I forgot to put that on before."
She fainted right after saying that.
Leaving Jungkyu who is still in shock with his red face.
Meanwhile, someone in the doorway—who had been watching them all this time—finally couldn't hold back his screams anymore. "WHOAAAA, WHAT THE HELL I JUST SEEN?!"
