I couldn't sleep throughout last night, I kept thinking of what Alexander's reaction towards my pregnancy will be. I took a bath, brushed my teeth and put on a pretty flowery sundress.
"Hmmm." I breathe out, dusting imaginary lint of my dress in front of my full-body mirror. Then I stop, my hands resting on my belly and I begin rubbing it.
"Hey little one are you okay today?"
Bianca barges into my room.
"what are you doing?"
I jump, stunned by her action.
"Don't do that to me, you almost gave me a heart attack." I say with my hand on my chest.
"Sorry. What the hell are you wearing?"
"What is wrong with what I am wearing?"
"Umm...I don't mean to be rude B but you are my friend and I love you but sometimes you are really stupid.... wait that was harsh, scratch that... what I mean is you are all over the news; quite famous you know, so I don't think going out in a flowery sundresses will make you less noticeable in Alexander's office!!" Bianca says with wide eyes.
"Well, what should I wear?"
"Try going for something less..." she waves her hands at my dress "...happy."
I stare at her confused.
"Put on sweats for goodness sake, you know what?, I can't handle you right now. Bye, I'm late for work."
I look at Bianca sadly and her expression changes.
"Okay I'm sorry, I'm acting like a bitch when I'm supposed to be the one making you feel confident." she says wrapping me in a hug and I sag in her hands.
"B I promise you that everything is going to be alright." Bianca breaks the hug and waves goodbye to me, then I hear the front door shut.
"Uggh!!" I groan.
Walking into my closet, I find a matching hooded sweatshirt and pants in the colour black and put on some sneakers.
I take one last look at the mirror before walking out the door. I'm about to leave the house when I remember what the doctor said.
"You need to start eating more."
So I walk to the kitchen and warm the leftover lasagna from last night. When I'm done I leave the plate in the sink.
{Bianca can take care of that after all the doctor said 'stress less'.}
I smile widely as I enter the car.
It's 10am when I get to the address on the business card.
"Wow, this place is huge." I say while I hoodie up and step out of my car. I parked across the street.
{Don't want to litter their parking lot with my car.}
{Why would I think like that?} I shake my head and walk into the building.
The security guards look at me closely like I'm not supposed to be here but they saying nothing.
I walk up to the front desk and the older lady chirps "good morning ma'am how may I help you?"
I smile as her. "well I have a meeting scheduled with Alexander at 10:30am."
She looks at me surprised probably because I called him Alexander instead of Mr Hart.
"Alexander?" She asks confused.
"Your boss, Mr Hart." I reply.
"Oh okay." She makes a call to his secretary, confirming the meeting and then gives me directions to the last floor '69'. I roll my eyes.
{Why didn't they just make it 70.}
This floor had only 3 doors. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. I went up to the secretary.
"Hey I'm Bella Owunmere and I have a meeting scheduled with your boss." For some reason, unknown to me when she saw me her expression turned cold and she muttered something under her breath but I couldn't hear it.
I saw something in her eyes but it was gone as soon as it came. She blinks twice.
"Oh umm..the bosses 10:30, you can wait over there on that sofa. Mr Hart will be with you shortly."
I knew it was just five minutes but it felt like a lifetime waiting for Alex before Eva -I believe that was her name- came up to me.
"Mr Hart will see you now."
Inhale Bella, exhale. Eva picked up the phone and called someone when she knew I was out of earshot.
What was that about?
I knocked on Alexander's door and let myself in without hearing an invitation to come in.
There he was, Alexander, the father of my unborn child, staring at me. I took of my hoodie and made my way to the seat opposite his without breaking eye contact. after what seemed like a lifetime he spoke.
"It's so nice to see you again Isabella."
