After that was done he turned to look at me, I lifted my face abruptly and only then I realised how close we were standing to each other. Our faces were a few inches apart. We just looked at each other.....absolute silence.
"...."
"...."
Mr Wilson looked into my eyes while he tucked a few strands of my hair behind my ear. I pushed him away with all my might and stuttered, "Um, you keep doing that and I'll go outside because I have some work to do, there, outside and not inside. So if you have any problem, don't call me."
I immediately ran away from there.
"Ms, Ms Brown?" Mr Wilson was very confused as to why I ran away. Sigh, he really does not know a girl's heart. He looked at his hand, which I held, he closed it to make a fist and opened it again. He glanced at the direction which I left in a hurry before resuming his task.
I stood under a tree far away from the guesthouse. My heart felt as if it was in my throat. I placed my hand on my chest to see how fast my heart was beating. "Calm down, Lia." I said to myself.
I could feel my whole face go red. "Ugh, what am I? A young teenager to blush like this?"
No, don't develop a crush on Chris! He is your boss! He would have been your future brother-in-law! The Angel on my shoulder kept repeating this. Suddenly a Devil popped up and said, meh, you should go ahead. You're not marrying Jason anyway so he's not your brother-in-law, not even in the slightest. Plus, he's hot.
Keep your dignity! Behave Lia! The Angel shouted. No, screw dignity, what good is it going to do? He's handsome, intelligent and single. Is dignity going to get you something better than that?
"Aaaah! Just shut up!"
*Badump* Come on Lia, you're acting like you have never seen a handsome man before. First focus on yourself, achieve your dreams and then think about love. It's official Lia, you have fallen for him- The Devil said.
But how? All we ever did is argue.
The Devil shrugged- I don't know either. You can't control whom you love.
I may not have control over whom I love but I can say one thing for sure, this is not love, this is just infatuation. I'll get over it.
The Devil- Hah! Let's see. *poof*
What is even happening? Do I like Mr Wilson? Do I not? Is this just in the spur of the moment? All we did was argue half of the time, I always find him annoying but what exactly is happening now?
I don't why but I felt as if I was ashamed of myself, with my head held low I entered the guesthouse.
"Oh, Ms Brown? You're back. I think I might have finished cooking." Mr Wilson was in a cute bunny print apron. He smiled at me and he had a soup spoon in his hand.
Why should I be ashamed? Mr Wilson is a great catch, I chuckled and took a spoon to taste it.
*bleh* It was in desperate need of salt. "Is it good?" Mr Wilson asked. There was this huge display of hope in his eyes. I cannot crush that hope.
"Yeah, it's superb!"
"See, I'm a better cook than you." I gave him an inch, but he takes a mile. He feels like he prepared a full course meal. Meh, I am the bigger person this time.
I gritted my teeth and forced a smile, "Go and wash your hands."
I added salt the moment he left. It tasted great after the addition of salt.
We sat at the table in the living room and started eating. There was an awkward silence. Mr Wilson was on his phone ever since he started eating. I wanted to say, 'Hey! Have some decency and put the phone down.' but then I realised that this sounded exactly like something a girlfriend would say to his boyfriend. So chuck that idea.
"Um Mr Wilson, when are we going back?" I asked to break the ice.
"Soon Ms Brown. Today is the twelfth, the party which we are obliged to attend is on the fourteenth. We will be leaving two days after that."
It's like the universe wants us to be together! I'll be Mr Wilson's partner of Valentine's day! If that ain't a sign, I don't know what is.
"Oh, so we'll be staying here for four days."
"Yes."
"So you're okay with sleeping on the floor for four days?"
"...Y- Yes. I'm a man, I can sleep on the floor. Women are fragile so you can have the bed." I could almost hear his frustration.
Okay, so am I supposed to think he's sweet or should my feminist self be offended that he thinks that women are not as strong as men? Well, yeah, women don't have the physical advantage like men, but that has no relation with sleeping on the floor. Well, I'll take it that he's being considerate. The spoiled prince is sleeping on the floor for my sake. I'm flattered.
I wished I knew about he saved me from that creep by leaving the hotel. He was okay with putting aside his comfort for me. If I presently was aware of this, I would have been falling for him even more.
"I haven't been completely honest with you, Ms Brown."
"Ya no kidding." Whoops, I said my thought out loud.
"Ahem, yes, well..... Anyway, the reason why I brought you here and asked to act as my fiance is because-"
"I'm so awesome that you can only dream of having me as your fiance." No, seriously, what the hell is wrong with me. I'm doing this so that I can feel less awkward, and most probably I'm doing this to convince myself that I don't like him. The Devil- if you did not like him in the first place, you would need to convince yourself otherwise. So, I am correct, like I always am. You like him. Me: Eh shut up. I think I would know how I feel. The Devil- Yeah, that's literally what everyone thinks.
-_-
"Ummm...No. Let me continue. Charlie and Lizzie planned to set me up with their niece. So, I thought you were convincing enough and up to my standard to be my fiance."
-_- Am I supposed to be flattered that I am up to your standards?
"Can't you tell them that you're not interested in their niece?"
"No."
"Uhhhhhh okay? Lizzie seems to be fine with me, so I assume Charlie is the problem."
"Yes."
Damn it! Speak full sentences, Mr Wilson!

Let's see what the other couple is doing.
"What? Hahahahaha!" Lisa was surprised by Jason.
Lisa was working in her boutique when suddenly Jason gave her a back hug and lifted her up.
After he put her down, Lisa turned around and gave him a proper hug, after which Jason kissed her forehead.
"You did not tell me you were coming!" Lisa complained.
"Well, it would not be a surprise if I told you now, would it?" Jason rubbed her head.
Lisa smirked at him haughtily while she flicked his hand away.
"How is your shooting going on? Mind telling me any spoilers?"
"Well, the shooting is going on fine, but I know that you are not asking me about that. You are asking about Sheila."
Lisa pouted but did not say anything. She glanced at him before looking away. She was too shy to admit that she was jealous and uncomfortable with someone hovering around her boyfriend, especially when the 'fly' was someone acting as his love interest.
Jason went in for a back hug again and kissed her hair. "Don't worry, sweety. Have some confidence in yourself, how can she even compare to you."
Lisa shook off his hug, but she was reassured by his words.
He took her hand and kissed it, "My princess, on the fourteenth of February, on Valentine's day, this Prince has prepared a very special surprise for you. Will you give him the honour?"
"Oh? Then, your highness, the honour would be mine." Lisa chuckled.
'Success!!!' Jason cheered in his heart.
"Lisa, can I ask you something?" Jason asked sincerely.
Lisa did not like the sound of that, it sounded serious. "What?"
"I've been meaning to ask you, what are you doing here? I mean, what are you doing in Country G?"
"What do you mean? I'm interning here." Lisa laughed lightly. She laughed, only to cover up the weird feeling rising in her heart. Is he with me for a different purpose? Does he have a motive? Why is he asking such a question?
"Oh...." Jason felt disheartened by her response. He had a different response in his mind. He was disheartened because he did not get to hear that. 'It's all right, it's been only a few weeks, I should not expect her to open up so fast.'
Lisa did not like what was going on now, this mood, this situation just felt weird so she wanted to change it immediately.
"Jason, do you want to come over? I'm closing the boutique early than usual today."
Jason smiled widely, 'she's willing to do that? That's it, baby steps.'
"Absolutely, I'm more than delighted to be invited by you."
"Pshhh, you came over many times, you even know where I keep the spare key." Lisa gazed at him with an adoring look in her eyes.
"Yeah, but when you call me over, it just feels more special."
Jason is such a grinning emoji around Lisa, I swear.
