It's becoming wet outside since spring is to be coming soon says my grandfather, though to be honest right now it seems to be just as cold just with wet snow that doesn't last long. It was somewhere from August or September that I had left my time and ended up in the past. Now father and I have been staying with my grandparents and father says it's time for us to fix up that shabby cabin so we can get out of their way. Gran says she doesn't mind and grandpa likes having someone young and lively running about, which just tells me that their both lonely. I guess my uncle and cousin really don't like coming around to see how they are or anything.

We go out to the cabin around mid-day grandfather tags along, because his tired of sitting around the house he says, but father knows better then to believe that. When we arrive at the cabin it looks ready to fall down any minute, and then father and grandpa push on either side and to our surprise it doesn't budge.
Now father opens the cabin door and the whole thing tilts to the right drastically, this defines what happens next. They push on it again and everything comes crashing down. My eyes were held tightly closed when I first seen it fall, a good thing too because there was a ton of dust, dirt, and durbri that went flying into the air, thus grandpa and father started having coughing fits. Opening my eyes to the mess before us I was trying to figure out how we were going to fix this cabin up to be anywhere near livable.
Grandpa walks over to one of the fallen walls and starts sifting through it for good logs and boards. We do this with the other walls and place all the usable material in one pile and the rotting and molding materials in a burn pile. By this point the sun is setting and we have to go back to my grandparents cottage.
Once I woke up the sun was already up the next morning how wonderful, wait why didn't daddy wake me up before now? I got up in a hurry thinking the worst possible could have happened. Getting dressed in a flash I ran out to the kitchen and living area of my grandparents. "Oh good morning dear" says my grandmother, and where are you running off to in such a hurry? What do you why grandma I woke up late and now father and grandpa are out working on the cabin by themselves. "Oh that you're fine dear no need to worry yourself so much, they said to let you sleep and that they'll be back by noon after cutting down all the lumber they'll need to rebuild. Huh wait what, grandma are you sure because we have a pile of that old cabin that needs to be taken care of and... "Hold on youngin, just calm down they are fine they have each other so if anything happens one will come runnin okay." Okay I say and take a few deep calming breaths in and out. "Now that you've calmed yourself there's some bread and cheese on the table for you and then can you help me with the noon meal, those two well be hungry." Okay, thank you grandma, I walk over and have some bread and cheese, and just so you know it's not really cheese that's just how they refer to butter because of its solidity. Now that Kyala has had her breakfast her grandmother got some of the food she wants Kyala to help prep. There's a bowl of greens that need to be rinsed, a stack of carrots that need to be cleaned and cut, a well sized basket that's full of potatoes that needs to be clean peeled and cubed. Kyala looks at the lot that needs to be done and decides to start with the potatoes since they take her the longest and There's so many of them. Grabbing the basket of potatoes Kyala sets them at her set and goes and grabs the composed bucket for the peels. Having started on the potatoes forty five to an hour ago Kyala's grandmother pulls up one of the chairs and starts helping with a few and then going to the carrots. After two an half hours Kyala is finally done with cleaning the greens, the carrots and potatoes are all started. Her grandmother was working on the venison that was killed earlier and now looks quiet tasty. "Oh deary, I need you to get that large pot out from under that table there and fill it a quarter of the way with water and put it on the stove." Then you see that bowl over in the small tub there, that's some small grains I have been soaking go dran it over the pot on the stove and let it sit for a few minutes then you can put it into the pot. Okay grandma. I learned a lot of cooking habits from this time period that you could still do in the future and somethings that were forgotten through time that now I can write done for future findings and uses, it's a lot of fun learning these things with my grandmother it's almost like I have a mom again. I've put the soaked gain or rice into the slitly boiling water on the stove so it shouldn't be long and most of the venison is also cooked when my father and grandpa walk back in, but soon after get yelled at by grandmother to go wash up. Once everyone was washed up al the food was ready and we all enjoyed the food that afternoon.
