Everyone settled down around the food.
There was a heavy silence in the room. The scene was complex with different emotions.
Mason was frowning at Alexander as he hoped to kill him with knives. But Alexander was busy eating a mouthful of food.
Looking at Alexander, Mason felt disgusted. It was as if the wealthiest person was deprived of good food for so long and finally found an oasis in his deserted life.
"This salad is good," Alexander looked at Evelyn with his eyes shining, "My mother would love it."
"I can make some and send it over." Evelyn smiled as she took a spoonful of rice to eat.
"I would love to have such a special treatment someday as well," Alexander winked at Evelyn as he laughed.
Evelyn glanced at Alexander in shock. Her fingers tightened around the spoon.
Alexander had never behaved like this with Evelyn. He had flirted with her from time to time, but doing it so openly was a first.
Alexander's eagle eyes were glaring at Evelyn. Evelyn felt exposed in front of her predator. In her nervousness, Evelyn bit her lower lips, making Alexander's eyes widened.
It was hard for Alexander to react to Evelyn's behavior. He wanted to rush towards her and smooth out her lips. He wanted to run his fingers over Evelyn's lips, over and over again. Alexander wanted to feel the delicate skin under his finger. Will it be smooth, delicate or plumy and delicious?
"Bad luck for you," Mason's sarcastic voice brought Alexander back from his wonderland. "We are lucky in that aspect," Mason smirked.
Selena elbowed Mason to warn him. "If you don't shut up and start eating now, you would not be lucky enough soon."
Although Selena was whispering, it still reached the ears of others.
No one reacted much as they were used to it, but Clara and Alexander chuckled. It was fun seeing an over-expressive Vice President turn into a whelp for his wife.
Maron glared at Alexander with hatred filled eyes but soon started stuffing his mouth with food.
A thought crossed Alexander's mind. He felt like he was sitting with Evelyn's family. It was evident that Evelyn adored the people in the room. They had been an internal part of her family, like Clara was to him.
Alexander understood it well. He started eating his portion in silence, but his mind was working.
It was clear that both the boys did not like him for Evelyn, and nor were they hesitant to show their dissatisfaction on their face.
'I need their approval along with Evelyn's families.'
Alexander knew his path was not easy, but he was not ready to stop at any cost.
On the other hand, Clara had no such feeling as Alexander. She looked at everyone nervously. She knew the so-called 'gang' did not hate her, but Clara was confused about how to break the ice.
Selena understood Clara's turbulence. After all, she was once in Clara's shoes.
When you like someone, you tend to come closer to their friends as well. But taking the first step is always hard.
Selena knew what place Clara held in Oliver's heart. As a sister-in-law, and an old friend Selena was ready to help Clara feel comfortable around them.
Selena glanced at Evelyn, who nodded in return.
"You are cute." Selena smiled at Clara, "And your smile is beautiful."
Clara flicked, but she soon blushed as she tried to avoid Selena's eyes.
"T-Thanks," Clara gathered her strength to reply.
Selena blinked at Clara with a slightly tilted neck, "Do I look like a monster?"
Clara was confused as she did not understand Selena's meaning, "No, you look like an angel."
Selena giggled at the reply while Mason looked proudly at Oliver.
"Then why do you look so frightened," Selena asked with a smile.
"I-It just I am nervous," Clara admitted.
"Don't be, we all like you, especially this guy beside you." Mason pointed at Oliver as he grinned, "What we dislike is this guy" Mason then pointed at Alexander, who was busy eating.
"Hm," Alexander looked at Mason when he was called out but remained silent. He was busy gulping down the food his future mother-in-law made.
Alexander's face was expressing a blissful expression, which pissed off not only Mason but also Oliver.
Looking at an almost empty plate in Evelyn's hand, Alexander helped her to place some food on it. Having dinner with Oliver last time made Alexander realize that he did not know Evelyn as much as he thought he knew.
Today Alexander took special notice of what food Evelyn eats. Evelyn was more focused on eating healthy, as she usually tried to eat more fresh foods.
Evelyn's plate was filled with freshly cut cucumber tomatoes, carrots, and so on. But she loved spicy food as well. Evelyn's soup base was especially spicy.
Seeing Alexander serving her, Evelyn did not complain as she ate peacefully. There was an unspeakable understanding between the two.
"They look cute together," Selena whispered under her breath.
Mason's face turned ugly. "What cute? They do not suit each other at all."
Alexander's eyes narrowed at Mason's words.
"You are right," Alexander smirked at Mason, "We don't look cute."
Mason nodded in agreement. It was the first time they both had agreed upon something, but Alexander's next words agitated him.
"We are perfect. Made for each other type." Alexander winked at Evelyn.
Alexander looked straight into Evelyn's eyes to make her understand that he truly believes in what he had said just now.
Alexander wanted Evelyn to know. It was not something said at the moment, but what he sincerely feels.
Selena giggled at Evelyn's reaction. Her face was frozen at the moment, looking straight at Alexander as if nothing in the universe matters to her.
"You want to bet on it?" Oliver challenged Alexander.
"With you." Alexander reluctantly broke his eye contact and raised his eyebrows at Oliver, "Of course,"
Oliver and Alexander glared at each other.
Evelyn felt she needed to have a proper conversation with her gang. Behaving in this way with someone else who was bugging her was okay, but showing this attitude towards Alexander was unfair.
Evelyn knew they had a prejudice against Alexander, but she could not change their view so soon. Evelyn knew accepting Alexander would take time, but she needed to make her stand clear
now before everything flows out of her hand.
"Eat more." Evelyn picked up some rice and placed it on Alexander's plate. Something she has never done before. Evelyn's voice was as soft as the breeze playing with Alexander's heart.
Alexander smiled. He could normally never eat rice at lunch, but when the girl he fancies and treasure serves him something, he would eat it without a second thought.
Mason's and Oliver's face stayed messy, while Selena and Clara had a mild smile on their faces.
Seeing Alexander pick up the spoon and eat, Selena looked at her better half, whose eyes were like sour lime gone bad.
"Be good," Selena pointed at both Mason and Oliver as she whispered. "Look at Evelyn, she looks happy now."
Oliver and Mason looked at Evelyn, who was smiling and laughing, and understood what Selena was trying to imply.
Evelyn was not a person who could get along with people so easily. It was especially difficult when love was involved. But seeing her like this was a refreshing feeling to them all.
Alexander stared at Evelyn, who had a grain of rice stuck around the corner of her mouth.
A small grain of rice was intruding on his visual. Alexander's hands were itching to remove it. Just a few minutes ago, he wanted to touch her, and now it was a perfect opportunity. Alexander wanted to make Evelyn habitual to his touch. Not fully, but slowly.
Alexander's mind started wandering all over the place. He wanted to eat the rice that touched her mouth.
'Won't it be an indirect kiss?'
'It is not a kiss, but ..'
Alexander knew it was not acceptable yet, but he still wanted to do it.
Alexander moved ahead as his thumb touched her face. Evelyn who was focused on something else was started.
For Evelyn, she felt that someone invaded her personal space, but once she saw it was Alexander, her mind came back to normal. The place where Alexander's thumb touched was burning. She wanted to have more of this feeling.
'What is happening to me?'
'I want Alexander to stop but not stop at the same time.'
Evelyn's feelings were fighting with each other. But before Evelyn was satisfied, Alexander removed the grain and ate it.
Evelyn's eyes widened at his action. No one saw what happened apart from them. Evelyn's neck turned red in embarrassment.
Alexandr smirked at Evelyn's reaction.
'So cute!'
He kept the plate aside, "The rice was good," Alexander looked at Evelyn, who was avoiding his eyes, "Especially the last bite was particularly delicious."
All the others looked at one another to understand Alexander's words, but were at a loss.
