It was a huge declaration in itself. Evelyn swallowed nervously. How was she supposed to digest this news?
Evelyn had mixed feelings. Should she be glad that someone likes her to this extent, or should she be scared over it?
Seeing Alexander still staring at her with an intense gaze, Evelyn touched his hand, which was over her cheeks.
"It is still early for you to say this." Evelyn managed to voice out. Her throat was dry as her pitch shook by the weight of Alexander's words.
"Sometimes you just know." Alexander was confident over his decision.
Evelyn giggled, seeing Alexander's expression. His eyes were clear as he eyed her. His thin lips were curved, creating an illusion hard to resist.
"I never knew Alexander Knight would talk about love someday." Evelyn joked as she tried to lighten the mood.
"I never believed in love until recently." Alexander chuckled, "You need to experience it to know."
"Yes, to that I agree." Evelyn giggled.
Alexander's and Evelyn's laughter mixed into one another, creating a harmonious melody.
"I understand you don't love me yet. Maybe you don't even like me to begin with," Alexander's orbs turned dangerous, "But I want a chance to prove myself."
Evelyn's eyes shivered as a deadly aura encircled her. She glanced at Alexander with questionable eyes. Her hand tightened around Alexander's hand. Her nails were about to pierce through Alexander's skin.
Observing Evelyn's attacking sturdiness, Alexander's eyes softened. Evelyn looked like she was ready to attack if anyone tried to cross her invisible barrier.
Alexander's tone eased as he smiled, "Give me a chance to prove that I am worthy of your love and affection." Alexander took Evelyn's hand and kissed her fingers one by one.
When his cold lips touched her skin, Evelyn quivered. How can such a small action affect her? This exasperated Evelyn.
"The road will be difficult." Evelyn knew her barriers were too strong to break with this. Alexander needed to work harder if he wanted to climb through the walls.
"My barriers are not easily broken. You need to keep your calm with me..."
Evelyn blushed. Her eyes lowered. Soon the car's floor was more interesting than the person in front of her. She wanted to say more, but her words refused to come out of her mouth.
Alexander understood the hidden meaning behind Evelyn's silence.
"Just promise me one thing." Alexander sighted.
"What?" Evelyn's eyes jumped towards Alexander's face. She tried to search for some clues.
"To trust me. If we have any problems, then we should communicate. Trust and Communication." Alexander answered.
"That are two things." Evelyn giggled.
"Are they?" Alexander smiled innocently. Evelyn's smiling face reflected in his eyes.
"I promise." Evelyn said, "But Why do I have a feeling that I need to use these soon?"
Alexander solely smiled and did not say anything anymore.
The car soon fell into silence.
"What was written on the paper that Kyle gave you." Alexander finally asked. The atmosphere soon turned serious.
Although Alexander tried to find out about it but failed. The content of the paper was guarded as a family secret.
"Trust is the basic thing we need to practice." Evelyn finally said before looking outside.
Alexander never knew that his words would soon backfire so soon.
"And so is communication. I wanted to communicate with you before I reached a conclusion and misunderstood."
Evelyn was still gazing outside as if Alexander's words were a passing wind. She ignored it completely, before saying, "That is personal. Maybe with time, I could tell you."
"I hope that time comes soon." Alexander followed Evelyn's sight to see a young couple walking in the park. The girl was holding the boy's hand and acting adorable. The boy touched the girl's head and leaned to kiss her.
Alexander wanted to have this kind of relationship with Evelyn. It was puppy love, very immature, but Alexander carved for it.
It was funny, the one thing he hated the most was now his ultimate motive to achieve.
Alexander was still holding Evelyn's hand. He slid his fingers into her and clinched it.
"Will you meet Kyle again?" Alexander asked. That was the key question surrounding his thoughts.
If the content of the paper were personal to Evelyn that only Kyle could access then it meant there was a common link connecting Evelyn to Kyle. Alexander wanted to destroy it. His eyes turned dark thinking about it.
Evelyn should be connected to him and only him. No one else. Even if there was someone else apart from him in the future, Alexander planned to burn the bridges that linked them in any possible way.
It was selfish of him, but Alexander wanted Evelyn to be within his boundary. Evelyn's eyes should be focused on him, her mind should be occupied by him, and her soul should be tainted by him alone. There must not be a single space for anyone else.
"No," Evelyn replied, "Dave should be able to take care of that problem."
"Dave should." Alexander mumbled, 'otherwise, I would personally take care of Kyle.'
'RING'
Evelyn's phone vibrated, breaking both of their thoughts.
Evelyn tried to loosen Alexander's grip on her hand but failed. She sighed and used her other hand to answer her phone.
"Hmm." Evelyn nodded, "I understand."
Alexander looked at Evelyn as his thumb stroked over her. They were in a closed car. Even though Alexander was not able to hear anything properly, he could still hear a male voice coming through the phone. Alexander's eyes darkened.
Even though it was work-related, the man's sound was friendly. It was as if Evelyn knew that person well and vice versa. It bothered Alexander a lot.
"I will be there soon." Evelyn kept the phone and glanced at Alexander.
"Work?" Alexander inquired.
Evelyn nodded, "What about the ice-cream?"
It was the original purpose of coming here.
"Don't worry," Alexander smirked, "We can have an Ice-cream date soon."
Alexander started the car. Evelyn was started. Date? When did she agree to go? Why can't she remember?
Evelyn's face bloomed. The ice-cream date was how silly. It was hard to believe that Alexander had never been in a relationship.
