Chapter 13 - Before The First Training Match

Training began the next day which was a Thursday. The staffs created different drills for the players using cones and ropes.

They were passing drills, shooting drills, heading drills, movement drills, etc, as full standard training really began.

The drills were designed to simulate some match scenarios, as the coaches explained what was expected from the players.

Tony found the training to be really helpful and performed his best, as he really saw the effectiveness of such specialized drills and wanted to also impress the coaches.

Due to most of last season players either being promoted to the under 21s or they were totally kicked out of the team. There were no chosen or favorable players for the positions yet for this season.

Which gave the new players who had been promoted or just got into the team, hope of becoming the first choice for there respective position, as well as the other players who did not have starting spots last season.

Tony who always knew that a team always had a host of players who wanted to play as a striker and get the goals.

Tony was happy he also chose the attacking midfielder, left winger and right winger among his favourable position. As a team usually had a lot of competition for the Striker positions.

Tony choosing four position made him a versatile player, who could play across any position in the front increasing his chances of being chosen to play.

But ultimately it was still up to the manager or coaches to decide where he was to play in a match.

All he had to do now was to perform well in training, to prove his worth to the coaches.

But across his four positions, he knew the best position he would chose would be the attacking midfielder.

Not that he didn't believe he couldn't play the other positions properly, but because the attacking midfielder position was one of the most technically and more difficult role.

The attacking midfielder duty was very important especially in the amount of goals to be scored by a team, as they had a great deal of influence in a match.

As an attacking midfielder he had to create chances, defend, be able to pressure the opposition defense and also be able to score almost as good as a striker.

He liked the position as he had greater influence over a game, and his mark could also be seen more by those who understood football better.

The attacking midfielders Tony greatly admired were Kevin Debruyne and David Silva. They were two of his favorite players from the year 2020 and even his ultimate team on FIFA 2020 game on Play Station 4, they were his main aces including Kylian Mbape.

David Silva influence on the pitch was usually has clear as day. And any time he held the ball it was difficult for defenders to disposess him of the ball. He also had a unique way of turning around players which looked simple but was incredible difficult.

It was said that when Pep Guardiola took control of the team, he only had to explain to Silva once what he needed from him on the pitch and he perfectly understood it because of his technical knowledge.

Kevin Debruyne was the ace of the team, and when he usually performed better the whole team performed with him. He had the ability to make other players shine with him.

He had the incredible ability to give pin point crosses and passes that made people to compare his accuracy to that of England great David Beckham.

Debruyne was also a very versatile player who when was younger used to play as a Striker. He also had the ability to play as a right and left winger, with his favored position of attacking midfielder.

His performance was so great that it left the Chelsea Fan base speechless as to why Jose Mourinho agreed to sell him then to German Club Wolfsburg when he was still at the club.

Tony wanted to be as technically gifted as Silva and generally complete as Debruyne. He saw them as two of the very best the game had to offer in that position.

But he recognized that he had a long way to go, before he could get to that level of game play.

The whole of Thursday was spent on ball training as they did not play any training match.

It was not till Friday morning, when before training began that assistant manager Luca, gather the players to announce " Today we would only be training with the ball for about an hour, before you rest and then we use the remaining time for a training match."

After that, the same drills they performed with the ball was to continue until it was time for there break period.

Tony had been itching for the training matches to begin, as he wanted to start copy ing some other skills.

Aside from the skills he and Rose had seen from some of the players like heading C-, Crossing C-, football Techniques C+ and agility C+ which had similar conditions of training together for specific minutes.

Assistant manager selected the 22 players that would be starting the training match for the day, as the other players were asked to stay on the benches and watch the match.

Tony and the other 4 new players where chosen to play in the same team with six other players.

They were given a black vest to where over there training kit. While the other team were given a white vest to wear, as they both took there respective position on the pitch in a 4-5-1 formation.

Tony was to play as the attacking midfielder, while his friend John was to play the left wing, Paul played as the striker,

Paul had a very good physique, as his stamina and strength were both B-. But Tony had decided to not copy any of his skill today, as he was checking for the best to copy first.

Before the training match began Tony and Rose had been using there scanner to check what skill he was to copy and had easy conditions from the players in the match.

They finally decided to go for a player that had football Skills B+. Football skills had a wider range of skills under it, as it could have different skills like rabona, dribblings, flip flaps, technique dribbling, etc.

Tony and Rose decided that was the best skill to copy, as the condition was to achieve an assist during the match.

Tony had already improved his passing to a C-, So it shouldn't be too difficult if he had the space and time to pick a pass.

The match began as both teams began to try and dominate possession.
