Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Party Fit For the Crown prince

The last few weeks have been uneventful so Cora managed to summarize it with a list:

Etiquette lessons that Cora hated.

trying on frilly and cringy dresses for the Ball (aka: Toddler and Tiara's standards).

More etiquette lessons

Research on the history of Qwently(novel setting)

Ate fancy western cuisine (yum).

But today was the day of the ball everyone's been anticipating, except for the one and only reincarnated business woman.

Every maid in the house was hustling to get the young Miss ready to attend the grand ball, while Eclair on the other hand, was just sitting there on the stool, looking clueless as fuck. This was like the scene in 'Toddlers and Tiara's', where the parents and stylist were turning the "child-DIVA" into a "make-up covered MONSTROSITY", the only that was different was Eclair had 28 people crowding around her.

The process might've been a total chaos but the product wasn't as bad as she was expecting, But the dress, corset, and the heels were on a whole new level of PAIN! Eclair's dress was so puffy that when she was getting on the carriage, she seemed to be stuck in the doorway, and it took 4 people to stuff her into the carriage.

The ride was pretty bumpy, but Cora liked it, on the way, She saw a lot of old architecture. When they arrived at the huge palace, Cora couldn't help but be amazed by all the acient, yet fancy dresses, and the big jewels that hung at the necks of noblewomen.

It was finally her turn to enter, as someone called out her name, she knew that was her cue to descend down the marble staircase. She strutted like she was on the red carpet, owning the spotlight, and attention.

Even though she was only an 8 year old(on the outside).

The spotlight only paid attention to Cora for a quick second before she was left on the sidelines to fend for herself.

Noble society and modern society wasn't as different as she thought it was, but it was still a pain in the ass to have to answer there questions and what-not.

Soon, the ball dancing started, and a little boy went up to the our FL to ask for a dance. The boy had platinum blonde hair and Crystal-like blue eyes, something that only 2D characters had. He looked up at the lady he had offered a dance to, and out of pity, the maiden decided to take up on this young boy's offer. As he bowed, and she curtsied, they danced with rhythm and sync as they, without knowing, took up the whole dance floor. In the end, everyone was staring at the young pair.

At that moment Eclair wanted to say "what're y'all staring at!".

But the young boy didn't really care, and seemed at ease with the spotlight only on them. Eclair also stood her ground, in the end, others decided to look away. The dance ended and the pair dispersed. As the young Miss was headed to the food and drinks table, a group of young ladies had stopped her in her tracks. "How may I help you?" Eclair looked down, smiling at the one who she assumed was leading the group. "Rumors say that the-". Before they could talk smack about her, Eclair spoke up first, "Miss Galeiya, do you not know that I am a Duke's daughter?". "Of course I do" the young Miss bursted out in frustration. "Then why have you not bowed yet?" the young lady went red in the face, and seemed to be embarrassed, whispers erupted from a distance. She quickly bowed and retreated out of embarrassment.

Did you think a couple of little girls could face me!? Thought the prideful business woman. But even she knew not to become too cocky, never underestimate others. And she was glad she came prepared, meaning she had memorized every single noble in the system, and the etiquette lessons really did come in handy, because not knowing your place is sometimes even worse than every scenario when it comes to facing a "thot".

If Eclair had to be honest, she really overestimated the amount of drama and bitch-slapping she would be able to do. Though more or less, the jewels, the gossip, the attention, and the humongous palace was all fit for a prince's birthday party.
